I had fairly loud coil whine and a lot of crashes. Probably 6-7 in the first two days. Once it wouldnt turn back on after for a bit. I ended up returning it because of the coil whine. It was actually getting louder as days went on.

Currently no problem with hardware or software, just I had to restore licenses the first time I configured the console.

Hardware seems fine. I've had times where demons souls wouldn't load (just stays on zoom in splash screen), crashes (maybe 3), and no audio from time to time. Nothing that isn't worth playing demons souls after a long day at work.

I’ve seen Valhalla stutter occasionally but I don’t know if that’s Ubisoft at work or hardware related. Voted “no”.

Happy to hear that my non scalper customers are very happy even they make a small bunch of consoles sold and I'm appreciate your positive word of mouth thanks guys

Pretty silent for me. Only one game glitch in Fallout 76 where UI vanished mid game. But to be honest the whole engine falls like it's about to keel over.

No issues so far.

I was worried at first that I may have had coil whine but I now think the noise I heard was just the disc spinning as it's completely silent 99% of the time.

The console has crashed on me once.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Day one console, runs great when it's running.

Several times though I've had it outright refuse to leave rest mode. The console turns on and the light starts flashing blue... and just stays that way. This morning I let it "try" to boot up for nearly 30 minutes. This is the third time it's happened, and I've had to completely pull the power cable and let it repair the storage/etc. before it would turn on again.

The only problem I'm having at the moment is incredibly slow download speeds for some reasons, 5MB/s max.

Just a reminder that the 3 red lights issues on 360 didnt happen in the first week.
Lies

I was manager at Future Shop when the 360 launched. And people were already coming back an hour after their purchase with that issue
I remember it clear as day, as I had no stock to exchange, and people were lashing out like crazy

The only thing is that, at that time, the RROD term was not coined

Just a reminder that the 3 red lights issues on 360 didnt happen in the first week. Gotta wait and see for both consoles. This shit doesnt necessarily occur on day one
Rrod report showed they knew after one week of launch they needed to put aside 3 billion for repairs

only played astro and ps4 games so far (and not that much) but no problem for me
i just got my hand on demon's souls with acceptable condition and will try that.

one thing for now is console noise is horrible when copying from disk (like always) and during copy process the UI was slow as fuck (playing astro at the same time)

Mine has been great so far, no issues.

The voices in Spider-man were inaudible at first but I just changed the settings in the menu and that fixed it.

My unit is absolutely silent. I avoided using the LAN cable to transfer, so maybe that helped avoid issues.

Zero hardware issues.
Only problem in 6 days was an installation bug with Spiderman (installation datas disappeared after a reboot?!).

I should have included that I did no transfers and set everything up fresh on both consoles. I also have been avoiding sleep mode (which is normal for me to shutdown instead of sleep). I wonder what difference it makes.

As for powering off the console. Damn Sony. Why did you reverse it? I still can't get used to tapping the button when I want to get to the power menu. I hold it down every time.

Nope, nothing that I noticed anyway. The disc drive is the only thing I can hear, but I'm also a foot from the damn thing LOL A couple crashes, but that's software for you. Just make sure to send those crash reports it really does help them correct software issues. It's been pretty smooth sailing otherwise.

I agree, I always hold down the button to turn off too.... it's muscle memory.

Ask me about my wife's perfect butthole
I have 2; both have experienced various crashes.. and games have been locking up.

Is it a hardware issue?

Probably not. But.. there's no 100% way to tell at this point.

I started to have some issues with rest mode yesterday, I guess I have to turn it off.

The issues I had:
1.- Very slow console after coming back from rest mode, had to turn it off.
2.-Controller not charging during rest mode (front usb port).
3.-Controller not recognized, had to turn it off holding the power button.
4.- HDR colors not showing correctly after coming back from rest mode (maybe an issue with the screen?) had to change HDR settings from auto to disabled and then auto and it corrected.

Not hardware . Demon's Souls can be wonky though , a couple of crashes and a couple of times where it wouldn't start at all

I occasionally get a minor coil whine that can only be heard if room is quiet and very close to console. Otherwise I've had 2 crashes with Demon's Souls that get stuck on the error status screen. It required me to hold the power button and restart, but started right back up.

I did get the external hard drive error and unplugged it.

I was worried about it and used the system to remove external drive, then said screw it and plugged it back in. Day later it said it was corrupted or something like that. It fixed it though. It will remain unplugged until sony says there is a fix.

The console that I bought for my brother has required him to reinstall the OS 5 times. He had rest mode turned on. I told him to turn it off. I hope that fixes it for him until they patch it.

Just a crash here and there. Hardware is good.
Multiple issues here Craig:
Rubber on sticks worn away similar to launch ps4.
Coil whine thats really loud.
Discolouration spot on outer shell.
Multiple crashes while warping in demons souls.
External hard drives needing rebuilt twice now.
X button got stuck in the controller when i press it down in a certain angle.
Other than that all good

Oh wow, it's kinda rare to see no global hardware issues at launch. Kinda interested to see what the longer-term situation will be.

Well my BD drive is defective ffs, 0 problems watching blurays but playing Spiderman and it vibrates with a very audible noise and sometimes doesn't even read the disc. I could return it but fuck... How long would that take to have it repaired. I don't want to spend holidays without my console.

My PS5 has very loud coil whine and it drives me nuts. Because it’s high-pitched, it’s difficult for me me to ignore. My PS3 was like a jet engine, and I actually never had too many noise problems with my PS4 launch unit and then my Pro. Aside from the coil whine, I’ve had no other hardware issues. Right now, I just feel fortunate to have one.
