Spiderman Remastered Detailed | PS5

As someone who's mostly familiar with Spider-Man from the Marvel films, the new face is much less off-putting to me. I was never quite sure what the devs were going for with the other guy.

Wait, was the original actor replaced because he was cancelled for something he said on social media?

No:

In order to bring the best performances to players with our next-generation Marvel’s Spider-Man games, we have recast the face of Peter Parker. We loved working with John Bubniak on the original game; however, to get a better match to Peter Parker/Spider-Man actor Yuri Lowenthal’s facial capture, we have cast Ben Jordan to be the face model for Peter Parker on the PS5 console. He looks incredible in-game, and Yuri’s moving performances take on a new life.

It's really weird how Peter looks like a completely different person. They have already been established that this is not part of the same universe as the MCU, so why make him look kinda like Tom Holland?
I am going to guess they changed him for Miles Morales and now they're changing the old game for consistency. But it's weird, I'm glad it wasn't just me...

"As you can see the game itself is using ray traced reflections on shiny surfaces such as mirrors, window panes, car doors and such. But upon closer inspection magnified at 10000x, we are led to believe the ray tracing solution isn't the optimal solution here and something that the console is probably in it's early stages of delivering peak performance" -Mr Battaglia.

Lol did he legit say that? Can tell if he did or if it’s farcical?

That sounds like a lame excuse to recast an actor, the original actor probably demanded much more money because of the success of the first game.

we made him younger ....... now pay full price!

the reflections are sharper more contrastred than the actual game area? or maybe there is a DOF effect in the game not in the reflections?

Ray traced reflections are typically rendered without the post processing layer.

It actually looks a bit better than expected.

I’ve already preordered the ultimate launch edition, as I never played the PS4 game

but to my eyes it looks the very similar to PS4 pro? (Gameplay graphics)

It's the same game basically, just with better textures and ray tracing from what I can see. And obviously better performance. It's not on the same level as Miles Morales.

Great news, i didn't played the original as well now i've got a complete enhanced game + Miles Morales to play on PS5. They changed Peter's face to be closer of Tom Holland's i guess. I don't mind though the original was good and probably closer to the comics. No big deal.

This is like that soap opera moment when they suddenly replace the old actor with a new one after a few years. Gonna be jarring for those who jump from PS4 version straight into second game or MM.

We ain't outta here in ten minutes, we won't need no rocket to fly through space
"Why would they want to make the character look more like he does in those billion dollar grossing movies?"

We ask, while a thread about the Avengers game's dismal performance floats quietly by

Hmm, I only got like 3 hours into the first one and it just wasn't scratching the right itch at the time.

I had no plans on getting this for PS5, but maybe I will have to keep an eye on this one.

The 60fps isn't the one with ray tracing right? Ill play at the lower fps to see just how amazing the game will look.

The face change is fine with me. Funny hearing the criminal say I hate this crap. Almost like he got his butt kicked once before and never learned his lesson. I'm looking forward to playing this again. I'll probably finish Miles Morales first though.

They're changing the face model to a new one for better marketability with Tom Holland and passing the costs on to the players pretending this is a remaster when it's really just a slightly updated game. Especially when that work is already done for MM. Sony's playing its players for suckers! How many are just gonna take it?

So wait...is it me or does it look way more bland and ugly graphically than the PS4 Spider-Man? Not talking about the face but really, graphics looks disgusting in terms of colours, light, shading...

You got it man. Everything you said is 100% true. The FBI should hire you. They can fool the casual players, but not you!

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

That's my biggest gripe with this, that previous saves are incompatible. I dropped the PS4 game about 7 hours in, that was about 8 months ago - I liked it well enough but like you it just wasn't grabbing me at the time and I had more interesting things to play. I might be willing to pay $70 for this + Miles Morales, but not if it means I have to start over again from the beginning. And it's gonna be hard going back to the PS4 game knowing there is a version with better performance.

So... that's a pass from me. Might pick up the whole damn thing when it's on clearance Black Friday 2021.

The ‘actor’ swap is completely off-putting.

The original was honestly the best, coolest looking Peter Parker we’ve had in games or film (I like Tobey, but he’s a bit of a different interpretation). Now we get MCU Spider-Twerp.

Fucking retarded.

It's actually based off a new actor they brought in. Maybe he looks like Tom Holland as well?
