Doesn’t help that there’s an overwhelming sense of hopelessness, anger, and frustration that permeates every thread. Mostly because everything must be tied back to IDPol somehow. I'm not sure I'd describe it as in the other direction, at least from what I've witnessed Era is heavily moderated especially from a leftward political perspective while GAF is just lightly moderated and lets a lot more stuff slide? I still kinda prefer the gaming discussion on Era but it's like peak GAF in 2016 where you had to be careful what you said since you can get banned for the silliest reasons which is the exact opposite of what Era promised when they started it

also as far as I can tell there's no way to change your threads per a page/posts per a page settings on GAF? and I really prefer having 100

It is fair to generalize about a forum based on the moderation team and how they run the place. And adults can have conversations and use generalizations in those conversations without spouting a disclaimer that not everyone is the same. It is just understood.

Get off forums dude. I mean that sincerely. Era is just as bad if not worse than here because they pretend to be better than they are.

Find some communities related to things you like. Not just "video games", that's way too broad. If possible, an offline support network will always trump an online one, but if that's not possible, there's a ton of specialized places out there.

I can't speak for anyone else here, but I'll never mess with someone openly dealing with mental health issues. There are a lot of people out there like that and I'm sure there's even some on Era, but the environment itself is unhealthy and should be cut off as soon as possible.
