I can't claim to have had one. I got really damn lucky when someone posted a tweet with backdoor links to the Amazon listings that first night. Amazon sold out through backdoor links before the thing was ever officially listed...insane.

The 3rd one came from getting lucky that my brother's PSN ID was selected for that invite thing and I spent the 2 hours being ready and waiting in the queue to buy one through his account.

No. When you go the link provided, you are placed in a queue. Refreshing the page resets your position, so don't do that. Once you are admitted to the page, you may place an order for the PS5 unit of your choice plus for games and accessories. The invite likely expires after 24 hours and Sony could theoretically run out of units before you are permitted to purchase, so be punctual and you should be fine.

Surprisingly, it went quite smooth for me when I did it in the first batch.

That was only from Amazon and it was related to the potential to have shipping issues due to the high volume that Amazon is handling. It had no implication on if the consoles were actually ready for release day.

However, there are rumors that the GameStop preorders might not be the release date consoles, but available the week after. I'm not sure if this has been debunked. But the two situations aren't related.

Yeah I never never never get marketing emails from Sony. I've even tried to uncheck the emails box, save, then re-activate them a week or so later. But no luck. One of the only companies I actually want to send me marketing emails and they don't. Oh well.
