I'd def play MGS1 and MGS3 again with shinier Bluepoint graphics.
I doubt it's gonna happen though because Konami gonna Konami.

I care not for MGS2 or MGS4 though.

I wanna believe. But I also can't help but think we're just gonna get ridiculous rumors from people trying to compete with the latest Microsoft acquisition news.

Sony can't announce new things now, everything will be a reaction to Zenimax.

Besides, rumor doesn't say PS5 exclusive, it's going to be console ex so PC later too.

My favourite game of all time and I love faithful remakes with all the latest tech, so give it to me. :)
All of our favourite series from the past will be remade, the only question is when. This is how consumerism works, in cycles of nostalgia. lol
The success of the Resident Evil remakes probably got Konami/Sony all wet.

Would love.
TBH these last 7 years we’ve had Final Fantasy 7 Remade, Crash and Spyro, Shadow of Collosus remade, Shen Mue 3, Final Fantasy 8 HD ( finally) Resident Evil 2 Remake. All these titles were never expected especially FF7.

I wouldn't be surprised if it happens, we’ve had more dream remakes this gen than any other.

Maybe timed exclusive but not full exclusive.
Is there any non first party full exclusive game that is only coming to PS5 and not to PC/Xbox/Switch?

Doesn't even need to be a remake or remaster in my opinion. Just let me buy a cheapo collection of MGS 1-4 that I can play conveniently on a PS4 or whatever console you might have.

Bring MG and MG2's storylines forward, even if they are only the length of Ground Zeros. Remake MGS1 (again) for the modern generation. Don't need to remake 2, 3, and 4, just use the HD versions. Remake Peace Walker and put it in the Decima engine.

That would be my dream wishlist.

It’s kind of insane that you can’t even play any of the earlier games on ps4. Konami fucking sucks In the era of collections, remasters, and remakes.

A bit off topic but it's kinda crazy to me that MGS4 never got a rerelease on other platforms by now, not even a PS4 release.
It would probably look really nice at 1440p on PS4pro

Xbox can buy whole studios and it’s great. But Sony remaking a beloved IP is embarrassing, desperate joke.

Can’t you xboys just get your overlord Phil to make some new ips for you instead of being erect that’s fallout is now exclusive to Xbox, when fallout etc would have been coming to Xbox regardless..

There was a discussion a few months ago on Twitter. People say the PS3 code is difficult to implement into the PS4 matrix. It would have to be a complete Remake like FF7 or Demon Souls. Most think that Konami/Sony (special contract) will not invest so much money. Also Kojima spoke about a Directors Cut a few years ago. He basically had to cut some parts of the game, because of issues with Konami.

I would celebrate my life if a Remaster would happen.

The MGS4 engine was already running on Windows for Metal Gear Arcade, so I don't think it's the Cell Architecture holding MGS4 to the PS3, it's most likely licensing issues (Snake using a PS3 controller to move the MK .II, the iPod, Hal's macbook etc).
And I don't know of any reason why Konami had anything to do with "cut content" for MGS4. MGS4 was supposed to come out in 06, then 07, and finally in 08. Most of Act 3 was cut because of time constraints and certain sections not being "fun".

Some things will need to be changed in MGS1. Although it's a classic & one of my own personal greatest games of all time, it has a quasi fixed camera style which suited its era & tech it was played on. You just can't do a game where Snake runs around passed Genome soldiers with a limited vision cone in front of them in 2020. It'll look retarded with modern graphics.

If it's done, they'll need to conceptually remake it it entirely & add a whole load of stealth/action mechanisms from MGS5. The levels will also need to be rethought entirely as well (& the boss fights).

Thanks for the insight pal. So it's indeed possible!

lmao why would anyone believe that. Microsoft announced buying Bethesda and the next day there are rumors about one of the best gaming franchises of all time that is beloved by many enthusiast around the globe to a cult level is getting a remake exclusive for the competing console that just bought a gigantic amount of studios/company.

Very clear case of some troll exploiting gullible fans dreams.

Chance of actual remakes ? Super small
Chance of pachinko ? gigantic
Chance of bad remastered ports for MGS games on PS5 ? slim but not zero

The industry is so creatively bankrupt the only way people get excited now is if there's a remake of some old classic game. What about creating something new on the level of MGS? No? Ok

Bring about a MetalGear 6 I say, with the vibe of the first 2 games, not so bothered about the sandbox side of things...if it means we get a highly engaging story...

After playing V I wouldn't wanna go back to the gameplay in 1-4, it would feel very dated.

I would be much more interested in remakes for metal gear 1 and 2.

This would be the second remake :messenger_grinning_smiling:

How about porting MGS4 to PS5 instead. It's still locked to PS3.
The rumor mentions that, in addition to the Metal Gear Solid remake, remastered versions of Sons of Liberty, Snake Eater and Guns of the Patriots are also in the works.

Well there was a rumor that there was a MGS1/2 for PC, and then this one. I believe they're both different, well, maybe.

Apparently listings for the ratings of the ones on PC had been posted, so who knows? I assume we'll find out in due time.

As someone who only played MGS2 and MGS4 Prologue (or whatever it was called), I'm down with this. I watched my friends play and beat MGS1 in uni. I played for about 5 minutes, but wasn't into the whole stealth thing back then. I preferred run-n-gun action games. Now I would be willing to replay the entire series. Some of those games are long though, from what I understand. Given what Bluepoint is doing with DS, I think they're a good candidate for this task.

Because it comes from a source who apparently - I don't follow him, but that's what I've heard - has been accurately reporting tech stuff recently? And also because the timing of it makes sense:
  • Since the rumor mentions that the Metal Gear Solid remake would be a PlayStation 5 and PC release, I have to assume that Sony is involved to some extent - and what would Sony do if that were to be the case? Give the project to Bluepoint Games.
  • Demon's Souls is right around the corner, which means that Bluepoint has had a new project in planning/preproduction stages for a couple of months now - as Demon's Souls was already in development by the time that the Shadow of the Colossus remake released in february 2018.
  • Castlevania: Requiem (2018) for PS4 was developed in partnership with SIE Worldwide Studios. Right now, a new Silent Hill title is being worked on at Japan Studio. It is clear that there's a close relationship between Sony and Konami nowadays, so it wouldn't be far fetched to think that Sony has been given the keys to Metal Gear as well.

I think your points are valid, but the timing of the rumors is just too coincidental for me and I honestly have given up on Konami.

Awesome remakes are always welcomed, and a MGS remake would be amazing, but who has the talent to direct such game. They would have to re envision the whole game, all fights, it would be a massive endeavor. Yes, David Hayter must be there not kieffer.
