I think both of these machines use amd cpus and gpus coming from a similar time. the differences between them don't amount to a hill of beans imo :(

Makes sense to me. I think Xbox is a good place for people who like online competitive multiplayer stuff. Xbox Live is a good service, they've got Halo and Gears, and franchises like CoD etc. sell well there. If you don't like what Sony is offering, then it doesn't make sense to stick with them. Go where the games are that you like.

Console fan boys should be changed to "poor people".

Who doesn't buy all consoles. You can buy a ps4 have it for a few years then sell it go buy a xbox. Mix and match.

I just sold both my Xbox One.

I paid $300 for my xbox one x. Sold locally for $350.
My kids Xb1 S I paid $150. Sold for $250 locally.

If you really plan on ignoring every Sony first-party games all generation, go back to Xbox then.

You'll have Halo Infinite and multiplats for the next 2-3 years, which seems like you're fine with.

Congratz for the bronze medal, OP.

If you see console choice as a competition I feel sorry for you. And all the other pathetic responses in this thread. You’re all so delicate, it’s laughable.

Xbox has more to offer than GAF will give credit, OP. If you mostly play multiplats, it’s the console for you. If you care about Sony first party, stick with Playstation.

PS4 had great exclusive games but when all things considered, they made up about 2% of my playing time. Going with the most powerful console makes sense for some. Playing COD, rocket league, fifa, fortnite, BF etc. Makes sense to get the XSX. Most of Sony’s IPs are one and done experiences.

I’m getting both just not in this launch mess. Early in the new year where I don’t have to fight for one.

I'm too invested in Spider-Man, my library, and other Playstation exclusives to switch over. That said, I'm heavily considering skipping the first year of PS5, catching up on the X-Box One X library with a Series X, and returning down the line to reunite with my upgraded library and a handful of exclusive PS5 games.

Problem is... look at DMCV, they are both at the exact same performance. I don't think there is going to be much if any difference between them. Apart from faster loads and better exclusives and VR on PS5. Oh and more 3rd party exclusives and content.

Edit: Also look where WB, Crystal Dynamics and others are going... all GAAS, no story games from them anymore. So the value of those story focused games just went up IMO.

Wont get much support here on Sonygaf, but I imagine there will be a lot of people , especially those with kids looking at the game pass value proposition and moving to the xbox ecosystem.

I own all platforms so not moving anywhere :)

If you are primarily a 3rd party gamer than the more powerful console would be the way to lean. Same argument many made when jumping ship from the 360 to the PS4.
The way to lean would be to buy the console that lets you play these 3rd party games while having access to first party titles as well, but to each its own

I'll be happy with a pc, ps5 and switch, gonna have access to everything

Waiting on some game head to heads before deciding one way or the other.

The only thing that would have 100% guaranteed me getting an XSX day one was Halo, but can't see that coming out until at least Xmas next year.

That's one of the reasons he wants to switch - doesn't like Sony first party cinematic story games. Xbox is 1st party more to his taste.

I'm really only a multiplatform gamer. COD and Rocket League etc.

I went to PS4 last generation solely because of the power difference but always preferred the XBOX controller.

I'm not interested in RPG's, TLOU, Spiderman, GOW and all those run around hack slash games. I'll probably give Cyberpunk a go because of 1st person and that whole setting.
I think I just prefer competitive skill games over story driven. If I want a story I prefer watching movies.

So again probably just down to $ per Terraflop, I'm going back to XBOX. Am I the only one?
That's some next-level GAF Rambling™. Well done!

You do realize that both consoles have 1st party offerings, right? The OP said he wasn't a fan of the typical Sony 3rd person story driven game, so.... It's great you're happy with PS5, switch, ECT... But other people like different things.

Yep me too and we're both "poor" for the same reason. You don't like Xbox games and I don't like Sony games. Not sure how our taste in games makes us poor but there it is.

Guess I'm going to have to sell off about 20 of my cats :messenger_beaming:
If you need shelter, you are always welcome in my shack. I believe there is still a room in the east wing although the en-suit only has a shower (no bath) and the walk in wardrobe really isn't up to standards!

Totally makes sense especially if you aren't in awe of the sacred & holy Sony games . Personally after hearing how awesome they are constantly, I was totally underwhelmed when I finally got a PS4.

Xbox will likely have games more to your liking and you can play those and 3rd parties on the most powerful console for the same price as the weaker one.
Someone that shared my experience. People hyped the PS4 games so much I went bought one, purchased GoW/TLoU/Spiderman/HZD and so far, I've enjoyed them about as much as i enjoyed Gears of War, Halo 5, Sunset Over Drive, and Ryse... but nothing is as fun as Forza Horizon

I play the shit out of mlb the show, I hope Xbox people enjoy getting it in 2021. The Xbox gets a great baseball game for the first time since like mvp baseball 2005.

Different people have different consumption preference-most people don’t understand that. Sometimes people have different preferences than the majority. If Xbox will make you happier then buy one.

I do not feel any attachment to any one console. I buy all three each generation. There are plenty of games I’m excited to play on both consoles but nothing that can’t wait. I’m debating if I should trade in and upgrade this year to minimize the hit to my wallet. Regardless, a new PC build is in my immediate future.

I’m a huge Halo fan so that’s the game that can get me to choose to upgrade my Xbox before my PlayStation. That said even if 343 can fix Infinite graphically the gameplay and story will not return to former glory. Whenever I do upgrade my Pro and One X I’ll like get the PS5 first.

If 4K isn't super important, you could grab the Xss and the ps5 at a later date. Best of both worlds for under $750 w/taxes

Sony is the lb for lb king when it comes to exclusives. Get the Xbox if you only play multiplayer since those should play better on the world’s most powerful console.

XSX is almost guaranteed to have better looking or performing games. The ps5 will have slightly faster loading. It won’t be all games, but probably most.

Sold my PS4 a few years ago Xbox all the way

I didn't buy a PlayStation to play western games they've lost the plot

Since they want to out XBOX the XBOX might as well buy the real thing

Uncensored Japanese games are the only thing that could change my mind

SoyStation HQ is in cali now so that wont happen

Not so far anyway and from all the info and footage so far they are the same on multiplats and PS5 obviously has the edge in how good looking their exclusives are.

Like, Demons Souls demolishes pretty much anything.

All the first party holy games as someone has said seem all the same to me.

Uncharted, TLOU, GOW, Spiderman, Horizon. - They all seem exactly the same. Third person, run aroundthon hack shooter slashers.

I wish they would mix it up a little more. Driveclub was good.
It's hard to take you seriously when it's clear you haven't played of these games.

GoW is the same as Spiderman? Can you be more full of shit?

I mean, we should all just say nothing and let you find out for yourself. You don't need our approval or disapproval. Get back to us in a year or two about whether you are happy with your decision.

The Xbox oppression circus is hilarious.

I'll be getting both, and prefer my 3rd party games on Xbox as that's where most of my friends play. PS is still a great console though.

Care to share some of these side by side comparisons?

I haven’t seen any.

About that...

Astroturfing 101.
1. Make thread talking about how bad PlayStation service is.
2. Make thread pretending you are switching to the competition.
3. Profit.
