So, even Godfall is $69... what if that's what most games cost on PS5? ...But not on XSX?

I have to imagine games from MGS will be $60 since they are cross gen? Then when the cut support it'll jump to $70

Ps5 is really becoming A premium experience, before the next gen even started. It will be funny if multiplatform games are more expensive on ps5 and work worse compared with xbsex versions

Don't think they'd be able to get away with that for long. It'll course correct fairly fast

You guys really think that just Sony are putting their prices up? Its going to be across the board or they wouldn't do it at all.

Plenty of games from third party publishers are not increasing next gen games at the moment. Ubisoft for example.

But you can also buy Assassins Creed Valhalla for the same price (PS5/XBSX) on Best Buy, for instance (60 bucks for both). And you can also buy NBA 2k21 for the same price too (both 70 bucks).

The key is to wait till a discount comes. If you don't agree with a price... do not buy at that time. That is how they learn.

The only games that will stay at those high prices are Fifa and other sports games and maybe COD.... cause those people will buy nomatter what. We have the control everywhere else. Stick it to em.

Not all Sony games are going to be full price, see Sackboy. However, most of them clearly will be 70 bucks at launch this gen. Other publishers already did that and those who didn't will do, too. Like Bryank75 Bryank75 said, just wait for the inevitable discount. The come fast.

What time is it?
I think they have one that's $110, and one that's $150. Their base game somehow is still $60.

I'm more talking about 2021 holiday: Far Cry and Valhalla or $119.99 on PS4 store front. I'm sure their base prices of $59.99 will follow suit of industry trends so it will be interesting to see what their other tiers of pricing end up at.

We're probably gonna have to get used to it.

Meanwhile, consumers come from a more justified place arguing against microtransactions now. This is the trade-off: higher initial entrance fee in exchange for ridding games of obtrusive recurring transactional opportunities. We riot, otherwise.

Long answer : Because Sony can get away with it.
Thankfully many people are against it here, but se are saying that they gladly pay for Greatness.

I think it's unlikely but I'd like to see Microsoft draw a line in the sand on price and promise to keep their (and their partner's) releases at $60 max.

Even if they made that pledge though, 2K and Activision are still gonna go $70 on both consoles, for some publishers this will be an inescapable reality.

They kinda went well beyond that already by putting them on Gamepass day one.

This is going to be a standard guys. I used to pay $89 for SNES games back in the day. We are lucky they've stayed consistent all these years.
To be fair, those were cartridges. It also contributes to physical Switch games being more expensive.

I don’t think so.
The medium is a next gen only game, not coming to Xbox one, and it’s $49.99:

That's a pretty fair point, as a GP subscriber the price hike will affect me significantly less than a non-subscriber, as long as the price of GP Ultimate doesn't go up anytime soon this only makes the service that much more attractive.

imagine sony pulling a scumbag move just like nintendo did with a "limited production" Mario 3d all-stars. and with their digital games.

just to have their cake and eat it too.

well, you can buy up to 3 years in advance. I bought 3 years of Xbox live gold and just upgrade to ultimate for $1, so the price will not change for me for 3 years at least.

I don't think Sony wouldn't let them do it. Maybe they had to sign that they cannot put the release price for the games cheaper on Xbox Series X/S or so, so we'll most probably see this repeat on all fronts. I'm still doubting about PC btw, but I've seen Ubisoft games at $70 for years already on Steam "pre-purchase" ads.

69$ is cheap, dont be upset ;)

Current gen have had 69€ launch games since 2013 and that is over 81$.

Kind of funny from outside perspective.

Same as gasoline, USA folks think 1$ gallon is expensive when on many places it is around 4-7$ gallon :( that is why we drive smaller cars

Just saying, it could be worse. 79€ is around 94$

Lucky xboxers if they still get 69€ games
