Spider-Man remaster won't be free even if you own Spider-Man PS4

What about Boost mode? What will that give for free?
If not free resolution and FPS upgrade like PS4 Pro and Xbox Series X than thats awful

Now this is arrogant Sony.

Fuck off with this shit.

Someone light a fire up their arse. Xbox I wish for a moment you'd get your shit together and actually be competitive so that Jim Ryan would actually feel the heat internally at Sony.

Why would they get it for free? If Insomniac put in the time and effort to give it a facelift for PS5 then they should be compensated for thier work, if you want it that bad. Im so sick of these cheap ass entitled gamers, get over yourself.
If someone spends £60 (or even £70)on something, I think it's fair to expect a level of support. That's doubly true for someone who then pays extra for DLC.

"We've added pretty lights and upped the resolution so pay for it again as if it's new" just isn't right. It's not that their work doesn't have value, it's that 15m people have already paid them for it.

Now can you see why people are against a one console market? This is sony when there on top. We need Microsoft/Nintendo to take some of the wind from there sail because the direction there heading ain't so great. £70 games aswell, can't still quite believe that one's happening.

I think a cheaper upgrade model would be fair. Free is a bit of a stretch, the original will work on PS5. But if you own that, a reduced upgrade price for just the additions would've been ideal.

Nobody seems to have an issue with DMC5 charging for a remaster

Let's see what's actually in it. If its just a resolution and lighting update then yeah it should be free, maybe they will be adding more though

Spiderman was my top 3 this gen. Would have liked to experience it remastered on PS5. Not paying for an upgrade to a game I paid for, digital delux price, on a console I’m paying 550 for (after tax), because they didnt make hardly any of their “399” version. They are in full anti consumer mode.

A new challenger should come. Having two bullshitters fight for our money like this just won't cut it.

The problem is the only companies capable of making a wave in this market (amazon and Google) are equally full of bullshit and incompetence.

If you could merge PlayStation and Xbox's strengths at the moment we'd actually have a very good platform. But instead they seem to be intent on cancelling out each others bullshit at the moment.

I think a gesture of good will by Sony wouldn’t hurt their pockets, it would be a kind of gift for returning costumers, after all.

But I guess not all companies are like CDPR.

MS may have a lot of flaws, but at least they’re not trying to squeeze money out of last gen games upgrades

You can play your PS4 Spider-Man on PS5,use boost mode, no problem. And it’s FREE!

This version is more of a remaster, new trophy list, etc. includes all DLC, and it’s only $20.

I’m fine with laying $20 to get a substantial upgrade.

Why would it be free?
I’ll have a shot at this one;

Free because the upgrade’s are not remasters, they are tweaks for last gen games taking advantage of more powerful hardware. Similar situation to Pro/X patches this gen. No new gameplay or levels are created. These sorts of upgrades do not require creative input, and can be achieved by a small skeleton crew, certainly nothing compared to the original investment and can even be nothing more than an R&D exercise for future games.

Furthermore, it’s a goodwill exercise by a platform holder to their user base. Even many 3rd parties are providing free patches.

From a business perspective, updates can reinvigorate interest and spur existing owners to revisit games by purchasing dlc they passed on previously. It’s not all a 0 sum game.

It’s bad optics and PR forcing loyal users to re-buy an update. The sour taste builds up overtime with fans and will cost more out the other end in due time.

I've been buying PS4 games over the last year or so in anticipation of playing them on the PS5.

Haven't played it yet. Haven't even downloaded it yet.

I assumed it would be a free update seeing as it's an important Sony game. My mistake.

I'm not mad, but Sony can go fuck themselves on this. If true.

That source is sketchy as hell. Word from any Insomniac dev or Sony proper is better.

But if this rumor pushes for clarification from Sony there is value to it.

This is the real source: Supposed conversation some random guy had with Eric Monacelli (Director of Production at Marvel Games).

Hopefully it's free but if it's getting a Ray-tracing upgrade etc......this goes beyond the normal of upping framerate and resolution for backwards-compatibility boost mode enhancement and thus they're free to charge. A goodwill gesture :messenger_smirking: is always preferred however.

YOu get the remastered Spider-Man if you buy the Miles Morales Ultimate edition for $70 or you can just buy MM for $50. There's no upgrade path, just BC otherwise. But I bet it will come to PS+ within the year.

Features
  • Ultimate Edition includes:
  • Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  • Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered

Std edition
