This game is going to be good I can tell.

The atmosphere in this game is insane. I wonder if it has day and night cycle.

OK guys, let's back to the real debate: which machine is more powerful? It's Matt on Ree. The Resident Evil 8 contreversy (supposedly it runs bad PS5) forced him to share an interesting fact:

If I would have to guess why, it's the Direct X which is an inefficient thick layer of abstraction. This is what the rendering engineer from Crytek said.

Okay, I had an entire day to process yesterday's news ... so here I go:

The time of true exclusives is coming to an end. Sony and Microsoft want your money, and it seems they both decided that selling you consoles isn't the best way. They decided to sell you games and services to increase their revenue. MS is going for a subscription model (and just barely supporting the notion of you actually buying their games), while Sony is double-dipping on subscriptions as well as you actually buying their games and owning them (only digitally eventually).

Both will be giving you a choice: Do you wish to spend a thousand bucks and then some to play their games on a PC, or will you pay a mere 400$-600$ fee in order to buy a gaming platform which will give you access to said games but will restrict you to their eco-system? Choice is yours.

While for the time being it sucks that PS5 and XSX games have to run on PC HDDs, eventually they'll stop using them for games altogether and all games will require SSDs to play.

PlayStation and X-Box fans will eventually evolve into Sony and Microsoft fans, becoming loyal to the company logo and the developing teams behind them, rather than the boxes themselves (which will merely devolve into a means to an end). 'I love PlayStation' will turn into 'I love Sony games'.

Sony's PR was shady and suspicious. For the life of me I cannot imagine that someone fucked up so bad in the Demon's Souls trailer editing. Human error my ass - this isn't butterfingers or mismanaging your words ... someone at Sony actually made a picture of the Demon's Souls logo and then typed that the game is coming to PC and eventually to 'other consoles'. Whether that was the initial plan, Sony changed their mind and decided to end up making it a PS5-only game, or whether Jim Ryan and Herman Hultz are slowing and cautiously trying to make the PS owners more accustomed to the idea that the PS exclusives will all end up being console exclusives until they finally and bluntly admit it will be just that ... I don't know yet.

What I do know is that while I love games and I love most of the stuff Sony, MS and Nintendo are selling us, I cannot take their word at face value any more. Sony, you gave your fans the impression that SM Miles Morales is a PS5 exclusive until it was tweeted at the last second that it's a cross-gen title. Same thing will Horizon FW. The mere fact that you did it in a 'didn't you read the fine print, son?' kind of way is infuriating, dishonest and makes you no better than Spencer. While I do not think that Sony is on the same level of game quality with MS (my bias exists for a reason), I no longer trust the company to keep their word and I no longer take anything they post at face value until the game is released and reviewed.

And yeah, I think that DS will eventually come to PC. I don't mind it - the game wasn't made with an SSD in mind and it's made in a way to perfectly create loading screens when need be.

Ironically, I don't think that it'll be Sony who will show what the SSD can do - I think it'll a third party developer who will consciously make a PS5 exclusive, ignoring the PC market altogether.

I leave the conference happier than ever with the gameplay that I've seen, but I am really disappointed with Sony's dishonesty and cowardliness in being transparent with what they intended to do with their new console's launch window. I do not question the reasons they decided to make SM MM and H FW PS4-PS5 cross gen titles, but I do know that the games won't be near as impressive as we thought they would be. It won't be Craig levels of incompetence, but it will be a narrow, constrained vision.

Well, patience for a couple of years until both Sony and MS roll out the true next-gen games.

Why did I decide to be a responsible husband/father, spend time with my family after Sony's show, and completely miss this preorder fiasco that wasn't supposed to start until today. Sigh.

Hopefully there will be more waves of stock before launch. I've had the next-gen itch so bad I started setting up alerts for 3080/90s. Ugh why do we do this to ourselves lol.

Oh, Demon’s Souls is DEFINITELY coming to PC at some point. They just saw the instant backlash last night, and acted accordingly. But you watch it drop six months after the console version is out 😂

As for the rest.... these console and games manufacturers are all cut from the same cloth, and they always have been. Best not to take it to heart too much. Just enjoy the games you want, and ignore the rest, that’s my motto. I’m happy I’ll have DsS to play at launch, that’ll do me for now. The rest can take care of itself 🤷🏻‍♂️

Dat PS5 remake is sure something else, eh?

It genuinely looks like what From Software would showcase at Tokyo Game Show for the PS3. What I mean by that is From Software are known for their CG intros and trailers. The PS5 remake genuinely looks like a conceptual CG "gameplay" trailer that From Software would make to announce Demon Souls on PS3.

People would look at it and go "oh, neat, wonder what the actual game will look like." This time it looks and plays like that. Gonna be my first PS5 game. Also gonna be the first time my girlfriend and my dog see me really fucking pissed off at a game. Good times ahead, boys.

IIRC Amazon had bundles go up for PS4 a few weeks/months after initial preorders. Between that and Sony's direct sales there should still be a shot for most people who want it day 1.

I don't understand why people are freaking out over Horizon Zero Dawn 2. You now believe it was all CG? There certainly is a possibility that the PS4 and PS5 contain massive differences. After all, HZD2 ain't coming out this year. If that was the case, than I'd be worried about the original footage. Some of you need to chill before you commit seppuku. I almost feel like creating a Twitter account just so I can bother the creators of these games on GAF's behalf. I'll say, "HEY! Heads are exploding here! Is this footage actual gameplay on PS5 or not!"
No, I don't think it's CGI, it's in-engine but I no longer know for sure the underwater scene is about to seemlessly transition to gameplay by fixing the camera behind Alloy and control her with thousands of fish swimming around her.

I ... just don't know anymore and won't judge the game's potential and vision until I see actual gameplay.

So do I cancel that pre-order for a PS5 I was getting you for Christmas?

Elden Ring is going to look like a PS3 game in comparison to this.

Yea I'm remaining hopeful that is the case this time as well. Fingers crossed I get a golden ticket from Sony.

You gotta be kidding me.... :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Oh. my. God.

This video is actually a day old, I wonder why no one created a thread to flex about it? Or everyone was too busy concern trolling.

Jfc, I appreciate they’re giving options but where do you draw a line? It legit looks like PS3/360 era game. You pause the video and it looks like the textures haven’t loaded but actually its a trade off for higher frames.
