PlayStation 5 [OT] Taking Over The World One SSD At A Time

Maybe Final Fantasy 7 part 2?

That's one possibility.
Recent rumors suggested that there is a big game that sony secured, so that could be it.
Also, i remember one of the earlier "leaks" (more like fanfiction pastebins) had GTA VI for 3 months, which could be the case if you look at some of the hints. GTA V was the opener for the PS5 reveal, Jim Ryan said that there partnership with rockstar is continuing. Plus I remember looking at the Xbox partners image and noticed that Rockstar was missing from that image. It is probably be a mistake but i would love to see that thread on era, just for the giggles. :D

FF7 was an exclusive so it wouldnt be a surprise to see that Part 2 is also exclusive.

I also think it's something bigger than a japanese game. We have already seen Project Athia announced as a PS5 game designed for the PS5. Thats Square Enix's big AAA game from the FF15 team. How can you get bigger than FF7 and a second big AAA JRPG from SE?

I think its a western game, and a big one like GTA or Rocksteady's game. I cant think of any other big AAA games that will trigger Microsoft to the point where they start leaking it to Jez.

Or it could be MGS. Maybe konami was making a reboot and sony picked it up, but MGS is no longer a big name and I dont see why Sony would need to spend money for it.

It is not a mistake. Xbox has lost a lot of 3rd party support becauae of gamepass. 3rd party do not want to be associated with that as it will lose them sales. Look at the xbox shows. Its been all these smaller pc focused studios & steam games.

They have lost a lot of 3rd party support this is clear.

whats weird is that MS showed many third party console exclusives. Stalker, Warhammer, Medium, Crossfire, and even PSO. It's like people forgot that MS literally has no first party exclusives ready for the first two years of next gen. what do they think those exclusives were? Phil litearlly called them console launch exclusives lol

The controller thread there is even more funny. People refusing to buy the PS5 because it doesnt support the PS4 controller with PS5 games. Well, the fucking console comes with a controller last I checked.

These people deserved to be locked away. they are mentally sick.

Hmm, the narrative at the moment is, Phil being the good guy that he is, is only locking down third-party console exclusives from devs who are struggling or in need of platform exposure. He is not locking out big boy stuff like Sony, which is anti-consumer!!!!!!!!!!

Why do you question the intention of the saint that Phil is? Everything he does is because for the greater good.

thats so ridiculous lol. Isnt crossfire THE biggest game in Asia? like 1 billion players iirc.

But yeah, these people will defend Phil even if he was caught on Epstein's island.

DS4 has been great, but count me in as excited it won't be usable for PS5. The new features would be ignored way too much otherwise.

The DS4 is needed for PSVR since the new duel sense has no lightbar in the front .

Also if you want you use your PSVR you have to get an adapter from sony. They will be free but there will be details later how to get them from Sony.

The controller thread was really funny. Its even funnier here, when you look at the 10-12 hour battery thread. People were complaining how the DS4 was dogshit and wouldnt even last a small game session and yet somehow they still want to use it on their PS5.

I'm going to list what I think could trigger Microsoft whether it's a western game or not.

1. Silent Hill
2. StarField
3. Another Kojima game
4. Final Fantasy 7 Part 2
5. Metal Gear Solid Remake
6. Superman

That's about all that I think is possible. Although I have to admit that StarField is probably the least likely of them all.

When it comes to Rockstar I think the most they can get is a marketing deal with an exclusive beta for the next GTA game.

lol haha.

btw, i need to see how long the ps4 controller lasts. i am playing ghost of tsushima in really long sessions and it hasnt required that many recharges. pretty sure im getting at least 8 hours of battery time.

Eh, I think you're overstating the impact of delaying the price. Apple roll out the prices of their products few weeks from launch, and they continue to sell. Sony obviously have many many metrics to work with, where they'd have considered the scenario you just laid out. MS always planned for a cheaper next-gen Xbox to shake up the market, Sony had a trump card of their own in form of PS5 DE which not many saw coming. That thing is extremely price-sensitive, if priced correctly, it could cut Lockharts' leg off and bury it even before launch. I can understand why they are playing chicken.

I still don't see MS budging first, they may reveal the price of Series X and possibly delay the launch of Lockhart till they have more info to work with. It's not officially acknowledged as of yet, so they can continue to play innocent. Imagine if they reveal the price at $299-$349 in mid-August, and later Sony price the DE at $399? I don't think MS are foolish enough to take that risk.

Sony should do the smart thing and price both of these consoles as aggressively as possible. Be confident in value proposition of your own product. If MS want to under-cut them and end up eating more losses, then let them.

The thing with Apple is that their hardware is on a much shorter cycle than Playstation - usually 1 year for a refresh and 2 tops. So if they announce new products and pricing 4 months before release they reduce the value and attractiveness of current stock significantly.

Sony have already announced the PS5 - what their customer base expects are the “normal” procedures leading up to release.

If Sony are changing those procedures purely out of competition concerns with MS, that would be a mistake.

Personally I don’t think competition with MS is the concern for Sony. I just don’t think Sony have anything to show or say in terms of games. Yeah insiders and rumours blah blah. We’ve heard all that before.

I think Sony aren’t sure about price yet because of Covid and that’s the delay to that announcement. I don’t think there’s anything more beyond that for Sony to do. We’ll probably get some kind of teardown tech piece maybe at the same time as the price announcement.

Oooh starfield could it be. Silent Hill is rumored to be made by Sony japan so i dont think that counts. Kojima is already a PS mascot so that likely doesnt count either. i think superman, MGS and Starfield could definitely cause some sleepless nights for MS execs enough to control leak it.

I had the DS4 die on me during a play session but I don't think I'll have an issue with the DualSense especially since I charge my controllers after in done using them.

Well the reason why I think StarField is the least likely is because Bethesda doesn't tend to favor Sony. I would be incredibly surprised if they secured it as a timed exclusive.

I do agree that something is bugging Microsoft alot if they gave that information to Jez.

I know that everyone that pixel counted the PS5 games shown at the conference said they were all native 4k, but this screen is showing some artifacts when zoomed in. I wouldnt be surprised if we are seeing some kind of DLSS/checkerboarding that is so good that even pixel counters cant tell the difference.

EaRI91YXgAI1I0z

horizon2.png

This will also all but negate Microsoft's tflops advantage because if both versions are native 4k and even DF cant tell the difference then whats the difference?

The most interesting part about next gen Face/offs is going to be the new features PS5 might have. 3D audio will make a huge difference, as will faster loading, new UI features and the new fancy controller features. Dictator was talking about how they would have to reevaluate how they do face/offs, and I think John will definitely take these features into account when recommending games.

I am fine with this console being $499. The new features sound extremely exciting and they make the PS5 a true next gen leap over the XSX which is using the same controller, and same UI. If they can incorporate this haptic feedback and 3d audio into cod games and other shooters, I am pretty sure most casual warzone players will pick the PS5 over the XSX even if it comes in a few pixels under the XSX version.

And that's if it's $499, I think pound for pound, PS5 simply has more next gen features than the xsx. If it's $399, it will be game over the moment people get their hands on that controller and try out the 3d audio.

Interesting, so those artifacts seem worst around aloy who in that scene is not only moving on the mount but bouncing up and down. So can this be explained?

Is that movement exposing the small flaws in the way its rendered, if as suggested its some sort of new checkerboard or whatever. Those artefacts don't seem to show on the background or even some other places so maybe as it builds each frame, with little change in a background scene frame to frame its hardly noticable?

Maybe someone really technical can tackle this. This is what I though DF would be doing questioning and finding these things but nope.

I also went over the horizon trailer and found a couple of interesting things.

We have been told by some its just cutscene so would a cutscene have these issues?

There is pop in or LOD switching whatever you want to call it), on one part, not huge but noticable.

zJPbcAq.jpg

Infact watching all those rock formations closely, the foliage, as the camera pans seems to alter ever so slightly. Anyone see? Maybe this is very subtle or maybe its nothing.

Also there seems to be something very slight happening round here which looks similar...

xjbb5ZX.jpg

Now its hard to spot and certainly not as obvious as the first which is easy to see.

I know our DF friend Alex said pop in can be casued by many things, this is early code and any issues probably ironed out in a year.

Now what implications does this have, for those who said its cgi if so why would this be in it? Maybe someone can explain. Does this tell us anything?

Does this support the argument that it will look like this in game seeing as small flaws are shown? Does this support it being gameplay with the camera moved and no hud?

pop-in is a good indication that its realtime and not pre-rendered since those things wouldnt happen in a game captured at a lower framerate and then rendered out as a 30 fps trailer.

And yeah, i wish DF had taken a better and deeper look at this trailer. they just counted the pixels and moved on with their day.

Neither MGS or Castlevania have any games in development according to the Silent Hill leakers. And about Sony's timed third-party exclusives, here's what Imran Khan had to say a couple of weeks ago:

Imran Khan said:
“Sony has been writing checks all over town. There are some timed exclusive pick-ups that seem designed just to pull titles Microsoft used to brag about having in their presentations and associate them with PlayStation instead.”
Titles that were associated with Microsoft in the past - GTA V, Arkham Knight and Arkham VR were marketed in partnership with PlayStation, so no GTA VI or Suicide Squad (Rocksteady).

I will give you an example that could fit that description (although I do not believe that it is one the games Imran is talking about): Battlefield 6 as Microsoft had marketing deals for BF4, BF1 and BFV.

At least I know am not mad.

Yes its maybe not complete pop in like halo infinite had who clouds popping in 😃

But its still something like you say maybe texture lod changing as it gets closer or maybe something else.

Either way its suble and tells us its not cgi which some claim.

Maybe some more in the know than us can analyse.

The problem is that no developer is taking advantage of Sony's controllers features. Even 1st parties don't take full advantage of them. I am not sure if Sony investment on dual sense is worth it.
Remember, most developers are still stuck with the medival technology of mouse and keyboard.

I actually think a lot of developers WILL use the haptics built into the DualSense controllers. Look at the support haptics have gotten in the mobile market. Rumble is widely supported and this will just be an evolution of rumble, at the least. If devs DON'T also take advantage of haptics for the triggers than I'm sure they will hear about it and then that will change. It's just way too cool to be able to have haptic feedback on the controller triggers for that MP5 you're shooting in Call of Duty, or feeling the smooth resistance of a trigger to your bow in FarCry. I think it will be used a lot more than a lot of people thing. CERTAINLY a ton more than something more esoteric like SIXAXIS was. Motion controls just weren't up to par, but this...at least from what little we've seen so far...looks impressive.

Time will tell!

Some of tht is definitely gameplay just like when she is walking in the sand. Most of these haters/bozos said same shit when Uncharted 2 was shown and Horizon one. It's same narrative when insecurities pop up, like a game cant look tht good bcus then it makes their favorite console look bad lol guess what? Uncharted 2 had a live game play floor demo tht shut everyone the fuck up and Horizon came out looking as good or better than what ppl thought were cutscenes.

Gameplay is out of the picture. Real-time cutscenes use high quality hero assets which is what they seem to be using here for every shot in the trailer.

But the game should look pretty close to gameplay and who knows the ssd might even let them use these hero assets during gameplay.

I don't know then. Battlefield or COD as a timed exclusive seems really unlikely to me. Also can't be COD because they already had deals with Sony in the past.

I'm running out of ideas.
Yeah, same here. Starfield used to be my best guess but now I don't know anymore. We should wait and see what happens.

I'm not sure its out the picture for certain scenes I've posted gifs of it before and what I think is gameplay, bgs seemed to say some bits were too. They look possible to me.

Also was it not hero lighting? The assets should be the same. DF (very not in depth video) did point the hero lighting out. Cant really grumble at them adding it in the cinematic bits for extra effect.

But would really love an in depth analysis from someone who really knows what they are looking at.
