Microsoft says Xbox Series X will have ‘the largest launch line-up for any console ever’ | VGC

BC titles are being propped as launch titles? That is a very desperate stance tbh. New next gen or even cross gen games that you buy for $60 are what's considered launch titles.....That's like saying PS3 launched with the entire PS1 and PS2 library including the 20 launch games....

Sony could've done it, yes, but they didn't. But even if, I don't know if it would have any impact at all after 599 was announced.

What does that constitute, like 5 games? Buying any new console day one isn't very wise. A couple of half assed upgrades of previous gen games, maybe a couple of originals, an indie or 2, then nothing for a year. Better to wait a year until games start to release, prices come down, and any technical flaws have been addressed.

if you are going to drop >$800 for ps5 + 2 games + ps plus, then yeah wait. But if you can get an xss for $249 with 3 months of gamepass what is the point in waiting?

In that scenario, ruling out any potential technical issues, there's no point waiting. I was referring to the PS5 and XSX.

I already have a One X with GP, so an XSS is of no interest to me.

No matter what will be shown today, they will continue doing so. But who cares? The reality is, that the majority of the gamers are casuals and don't give a shit about exclusive games. Only core gamers + fanboys do and some of those are the noisy troublemakers that want to make you believe that EVERY gamer in the world buys a console JUST for exclusive games and of course that the competitor's system has no games or only shitty games.
If you don't think Exclusives games matter, you go you. But it implied that Xbox bought all those new studios for nothing, if exclusives are really that useless.
And if "exclusives don't matter" is the battle-cry of Xbox next gen, they are going to be in serious trouble.

I just said they don't matter to let's say 70-80% of the gamers called casuals. Microsoft bought all those studios to fill the Game Pass at reasonable costs and not to silence the Xbox has no games cry babies. If they would think exclusive games are that important, they wouldn't release them on Pc and on tablets/smartphones/tv via xCloud, because that actually makes them non exclusive.

Well MS sure have been saving them up /

Gaiden 4 would be exciting

I am looking at games that are being played as close to release, cinematic trailer means game is much further away....

If there's anything we've learned this past GEN, Microsoft lies. Or "bends the truth".

I'm still waiting on that killer game using "The Cloud" enabling the power of a 1000 Xbox Ones...

This is a step in the right direction, but you're still kind of basing it off nothing.
The "Future of Gaming" has a like-dislike ratio of 12:1 (Road to PS5 and May's Inside XBox have about 50:50 by comparison), and it was the most watched gaming presentation ever, so you'd bet a negative reaction would show.
"People I know" didn't like it is a pretty useless metric; people I know liked it, but I'm obviously not using that as a valid point.

Also, to underline the pointlessness of just using your subjective opinion, we've known about DeS for ages. It was the least surprising thing to show imo, though obviously very hype.
Literally the same thing for both. There was a poll on GameSpot and it got a 7/10 there as well. Your "incredibly well-received" has no more basis than mine. We both know it was well-rated. Whether it was a 7/10 or 10/10, no one can prove it besides using what we’ve seen as a general reaction.

Also no we haven’t known about Demon’s Souls for ages because it was merely a rumor and confirmed like 2-3 days before the event and even then by no official sources.

Even if this is counting BC titles, wasn’t the PS2 compatible with the entire PS1 library? And WiiU for the Wii? I would think those would beat it.

Its probably based on the number of old-titles on the storefront. The thing about the OG PS3 was that although it was compatible with practically every PS1 and PS2 title, you had to source the discs for yourself.

Go Go Neo Rangers!
False. My dick will have the largest launch line up in history.

OT: I think the numbers will be a bit inflated by stuff already out on PC like Gears Tactics and Flight SIm being launched on Series X. But I still hope they have some stuff hidden we dont know about. Like with Ryse and KI.

The two aren’t mutually exclusive m8

On topic, seems a bit overconfident? Like how would they know how many 1st party games Sony will launch with, unless they’re including BC or something. Would love it to be true but sounds not quite right.

He's almost assuredly counting XBone games that will play best on Series X or have full Series X versions, with Smart Delivery it becomes very easy to have them available on day one. So when the 360 launched and we had cross gen games and they were two skis, here we just need one, and it will count. Basically anything with the Lolo we saw on the FC6 box.

If they deliver Fable along with Halo then the first battle is won.

Eh. I don’t think that’ll do it.

They need to announce new stuff that’s exclusive to the Microsoft ecosystem. Fable and Halo have been great and all that, but Microsoft need to lure a lot of Sony fans over to their side of the fence, and if Halo and Fable haven’t done that in the past, not sure it’s going to do it now.

I am very much hoping to see either really interesting brand new IP, or big name, third party exclusivity. That’s what will get me to buy a Series X, or upgrade my graphics card again.

Number of total games is a completely meaningless statistic. Switch gets several new games every day and it still feels like it has no new games thos year.

That's because all three companies (and Steam, mobile too) are letting way too much garbage on their machines - games so bad, that they no one would actually enjoy them and a better quality assurance process should be done to protect gamers from being ripped off.

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
At least theres some hopes for Microsoft fans game launches are something to be excited about.

Yes, i prefer Xbox. So what? I think i hit a nerve with you. Very offended for some reason.

I'm not offended I'm just letting you know your assessment on how positive people were about Sony's show doesn't mean a lot to many of us. Striking a nerve would be when you replied "I don't care what you think!" like some teenage Slipknot fan or something.

I hear this about every console launch. I really doubt it. There's very likely going to be some great games but unless they drop constant megatons tonight I very seriously doubt it. I see it being more like Switch with some great third party stuff but a huge focus on Halo Infinite like Nintendo did with Breath of the Wild.

You’re underestimating the number of current gen games. The rapid acceleration of small downloadable titles means this past gen has far more available titles than physical releases. If you look at like the PS blog weekly drop, there’s like 10 games every week you’ve never heard of.

He probably only compared it to MS consoles (OG Xbox, 360, One) leaving it open for interpretation on purpose.
If you narrow it down to MS consoles only, it‘s not hard to be the „biggest launch“ ever.

Probably also includes BC titles.
all ms consoles, og xbox, 360 and xbox one have launched with double digit of exclusive games.
and I am pretty sure that Satya does not include BC titles.

If one was to include even 10% of the BC titles, the record would be unbreakable for some console generations

"A poll with less than 300 votes is more reliable than YT and social media analytics"
I see the statistics understander as logged on

Simple as it can be: when most events tend to get mauled by dislikes (see Nintendo, Ubisoft, and MS's most recent events), this was well-received, as you said. Arguing how much is frankly meaningless semantics.

PS: Schreier confirmed a remaster was coming in February 2019. Anyway, glad you got a surprise

Having a large launch line up dont mean shit unless the games are good, ill take two launch bangers over 40 mediocre games.

BC will be good only for people making the transition. The thing I want to see is the launch line-up without the BC games. I love being able to play older games, but generally when I jump to a new console I want to feel the taste of what's new on the system.

If you want to make a joke, at least make sure you spell properly. Can't even conjugate.

I told you in the very next sentence there is no way to prove my assessment or yours, hence why my GS example is as valid as your "12 to 1 like ration on youtube" defense which didn't prove jack but this didn't stop you from monkeying around implying it was indicative of the exact level of reception. The poll at least had a wider spectrum than "like or don't like".

Schreirer didn't "confirm" anything because he doesn't work for Sony. The rumor had been going around for a while and we had been told it was BluePoint games but once again, it was never officially announced.
