Witcher 3 is my favorite game of all time, but yea the combat is not its strong suit. I'm not sure when you dipped out but they did later add an option where you can change the movement type of Geralt.

Also approach the combat more methodical than hack and slash. Take your time, get your parries,weak attack strong attack, etc. The game doesn't lend itself well to a quick paced hack and slash style.

The game only scored well because it's a Sony exclusive.
They love SJW propaganda and that's why the game scored well.
Journalist are damage controlling just how bad the game is.
Look at Star Wars and Captain Marvel. Journalist gave it high scores, but the movie sucked.

Dropped it after I hit yo skelige maybe like a few weeks after release. I did buy it day one though. I also hated all the dialogue. But thnks for the info. I did think the world was beautiful and well done.

This always seemed like a strange complaint about the first game. I thought the gameplay was pretty fantastic with a few exceptions. Im playing back through TLOU right now for probably the 4th time and Im surprised at how tense the combat encounters still are even after I know pretty much how they all shake out.

We can safely say that the game is good or even great. It would be irrational to draw any other conclusions from all the incredible reviews. That is not to say though that 'personally' everyone is going to like it or think it's a masterpiece. Reviews ARE subjective but when so many come to the same conclusion, it becomes more objective, at least in terms of judging it bad/fair/good. Only when you actually get to play it yourself will you be able to draw any genuinely objective views.

I don't think anyone ever said that he's the "most important reviewer", I mean, reviews and reviewers are subjective. So it really doesn't matter. That being said the guy really does do quality content. It'd be a shame if people shat all over him just because of an opinion he has that others don't agree with.

Like, I get the whole "OH THERE'S 1 NEGATIVE IN A PILE OF POSITIVES" thing, it's always questionable. But considering he put out a TLOU review recently, it really makes sense with his reaction to TLOU2. Not to mention he goes into enough detail to bring about his conclusion. Again, it's subjective, and not everyone will agree. But I do, because the feelings he brings up with the original TLOU were the same I shared while playing and completing TLOU. Honestly, I was shocked at all the praise it got. I thought it was a solid game, sure, and I'd recommend it to others. But I never ever thought it was one of the best video games ever made. Some of the best story telling and characters? Definitely! But, this was a video game, not a movie. The core gameplay was overshadowed by the amazing story telling and writing, and IMO there were so many other games out there that played better.

Also, just my opinion, don't shoot I'm unarmed! Lmao.

2 Things:
1. First time I heard of this guy was today and that was through him being a massive contrarian. Even if this is just his honest opinion, it doesn't really change much to the fact that the people now propping up his review as the "only true, honest one" are just doing it because it plays into their confirmation bias. I don't have any issue with the reviewer, but the people using his review are being dicks.

2. He's a YT gaming channel. I said this already but imo the whole "YT will save us from the shill pro journos" has been an utter failure. Gaming sites get paid through advertisers and yes, in the past some of them were publishers but gaming sites have actually moved to change things and advertisers can be nearly anyone now. Youtubers on the other hand are paid mostly through views and Patreon. This means that they have an incentive to do whatever it takes to get views and being a contrarian or playing into a certain demographic (in this case it would be the anti SJW crowd, a very lucratif one on YT) is a good way to get views. With Patreon if you've gathered an audience of reactionaries, going against their confirmation bias could mean people getting angry and no longer paying you monthly. Unfortunately grifting has become a very common thing and it's made a total fool out of the concept of freelance YT gaming media.

I'm not saying this is the case for this guy, in fact I get the impression he's very honest here. But Youtubers just raise an instant red flag for me now and the idea that some guy's opinion on YT is more valid than a gaming site because he's not a "shill pro journo" is utterly laughable.

The best thing about that review is he's very upfront about his leanings going in from the first game. It gives his criticisms context and makes deciding whether to take his complaints onboard or set them aside much easier.

In short its the sort of review I may not necessarily agree with, but I can respect as a well articulated opinion. Good stuff.

Generally reactions are pretty much precisely what I expected though, I knew the violence would alienate some as would the more nihilistic and downbeat approach make it less easy to like as an experience.

Not taking into account no game has the same amount of reviews from reviewers or same reviewers. You have one of the highest rated games of all time with only like 15 reviews calculated but for many tht doesn't matter but of course tht matters.

Once you hit 90 plus realm all those games are excellent 95 and up masterpieces and 97 really isn't quantiably better than a 95 bcus there's other factors.

'Game journalists' heap praise on a story driven game with one of the worst endings in the history of the medium? Gamers are understandably pissed and the 'game journalists' call them entitled.

I think the comparison is pretty apt.

I have no intention of getting the game since I have no interest in the series, but if the leaks are true (and I have reason to beleive they are) gamers will react the same way and the audience metacritic score will reflect that. And I'm pretty the 'game journalists' will react to the backlash in the same manner.

I'm curious to see if this all plays out the same way once the game is released.

Could be wrong, though. The Infamous 2 one back in the day (that I still use to this day) was full sized.
