Incredible that every TLOU turns to shit every time. It's basically impossible to get a discussion about the Gameplay/Graphics/Animation because every fuckin Threads turn into this political mess.
It's because some people are trying to turn this into Gamergate PT2. Why does it seem like some people who hate this game or more obsessed with it than fans are. If people don't like it then move on to something else.

No spoilers here, but I wonder how well known it is that part of the "leaks" was a 10-15min chunk that appeared to be the entire start of TLOU2, credits and all.

It looked absolutely terrific, and yet nobody mentioned it. Even when the image quality of this chunk was easily the best of any of the leaked footage. It really looked to me like it was prepared as an official (albeit not publicly released) promo.

Recent quote from Jim Ryan about TLOU2 and PS5

"We hope this is a defining game for the generation," says Ryan, before confirming that the version launching next month "will run on the PS5 without issue". Even though there's been no reports of Naughty Dog or Sony working on updated visuals for The Last of Us 2 for the PS5, it looks like the game will still be compatible with the next-gen console.

meanwhile, I´m still waiting on your explanation of how his agenda (as he pointed out he wants to create female characters that are not oversexualized by men and are worthy of being an idol for his kids) is actually ruining this particular game for you or previous games.

You’re going to wait a lot, because I never said Cuckmann’s agenda ruined this game or any other game for me. Quite the contrary, the Nadine fights in Uncharted 4 gave me a sane good dose of laughs at the silly display of feminist fanservice.

You, like most the people like you, have made a very extremistic strawman in your head and you are responding to him, not actually having a discussion with me.

That’s the problem with all the lot of you. You are so triggered and in damage control mode that you aren’t capable of any nuance, neither actually listening what is being said.

You stated already numerous times that you are not gonna buy the game

See?

Not only I have never said that, quite the contrary. I said I will buy the game day one and I’m happy it launches on my birthday.

I’m dying to play the game and I’m sure it’s going to be amazing.

Are you having online meltdowns over every piece of fiction that you consider as agenda-driven and that you are actually not even gonna buy or consume? Why bother than

The funny thing is that the only people acting triggered and retorting to juvenile insults are the ones on your side. I just enjoy to argue and I’m a stubborn ass motherfucker.

But as I said to other random user who made the same question. Why you bother that I bother?

very piece of art/fiction (call it whatever you want it) has an agenda attached to it. Because they are made by humans. And humans have opinions on all kinds of stuff. Every character you ever saw/red is based on something. Do you disagree with the creator?. That happens. Does that automatically mean that you can´t enjoy the whole product? Let´s make an example. Have you seen a Mel Gibson movie? I hate the guy. He is an antisemitic piece of shit. But he makes good movies (at least he used to). Crazy huh?

Every piece of art has an agenda, but not every piece of art has a political agenda.

Which is nothing wrong, you can put the agenda you want in your art. It’s just funny to see how TRIGGERED people become when we point out that TLOU2 has a silly political agenda based on the likes of Anita Sarkeesian.

One last thing: I find it utterly disturbing that there are grown-ass dudes out there who feel threatened or triggered by a game because one of the characters in the game has smaller titts than the original actress portraying her. I mean WHAT THE FUCK my dude :D Do you sometimes listen to yourself?

Dude, I was laughing my ass off at the photo. The people triggered and trying to come up with silly excuses as to why the photo is “a lie” and retorting to insults just because I posted the photo are the people on your side. How can you have this lack of self-awareness? :messenger_grimmacing_

I´m done with you

Who where you again?

From the recent new gameplay footage, after Ellie kills the girl holding a Vita and then enters a dishevelled area with broken glass and two guards are walking by:

Man: 'Word is we're almost wrapped up'
Woman: 'Good, I got my girl waiting for me at the *something*'
man: 'Are you shitting me? They put you with Jordan'
Woman: 'Ah, we get the job done.'
Man: 'tss, I bet you do, ... Oh, this is not fair'
Woman: 'I'm telling you, man, date a soldier, it makes these shifts soooo much easier'
Man: (laughs) 'sure, I'll keep that in mind'.

I just wonder how many conversations like this are going to be in the game. So, we have Ellie, a lesbian, entering a new area, and the very first conversation she hears is a lesbian talking about her relationship and sex. You have to remember, these are written on purpose. They don't just happen. Too much of that and it will be clear the writer is making a point.

The game is more than some controversial story elements. I know that Neil tried to push his ideals or whatever but in the end so what? I read and watched many books and movies that I don't always agree with and I still enjoyed them. I'm not that weak that I have to agree 100% with media. I have my own opinions and no game will influence them.

The gameplay looks fantastic and it's a 20+ hours game so just roll your eyes when you see the Anita-approved content lol

And some people here have the nerve to claim there's no agenda in this game and Druckmann is a good writer.

The main character is a lesbian, her romantic interest is a bi, there's a trans boy Lev, half the soldiers a tough women and lesbian.

Completely realistic depiction of the apocalypse, nothing to see here, move along lol

Is it an assembly line that churns out people who participate in leftist group think? Just wondering what you mean by "NPC factory"? Honest query, friend.
Yeah

Yeah

Please don't mistake my point as an absolute. I'm still on the fence and only have concerns. Neil DOES have an agenda, without a doubt, but as I keep saying, I will only have a problem if (in context), it's overt.

Please, if you answer this post, do not indirectly verify yay or nay by mentioning the leaks, even if you think you're being ambiguous.

And? Is it really such a terrible point that same-sex relationships exist. What's the downside?

The problem is that you are fixating on something that in the context of the game has no bearing, The character you are talking about is basically cannon-fodder to be avoided or (more likely) eliminated by the player. Does it matter when you are shooting her in the face or stabbing her in the neck what her preferences are? Do you really care?

On the other hand how would all this feel with say Joel as the playable character. Would it be more acceptable if your avatar was a big strong white dude murdering the shit out of these same women, especially the lesbians? What message is that sending?

I mean once you start down the identitarian path (either in support of, or in opposition to) there's always fault to be found. Too many gays, too many straights, too many white protagonists, too many non-white antagonists... its a snake-pit! If the lefties don't get you, the right wingers will.

No it isn't a problem that there are same sex relationships in the game, as I keep saying ... It is however, another possible indicator that the agenda has pushed Neil to add some same sex relationships into the game for the sake of it. Surely I'm not the only person who can hold two viewpoints in their head at once and keep re-evaluating without the need for a conclusion? The conclusion will manifest after finishing the game. I'm not emotionally invested in either thought process, of which I'm merely offering the possible negative side in the point I'm making there, something I do when the majority of time spent following something has been from the positive perspective. Call it an in built devils advocate. Perhaps that may help with understanding how I like to approach things like this.

I don't have a set view point. Thought is a process and cannot exist if you only have one viewpoint, which is why I believe in freedom of speech.

Man: She escaped when no one was looking.
Man: We're searching the area just in case she's still around.

I think you're too focused on her saying "dating" and "my girl" because you believe the purpose of this conversation is to push an agenda.

They're giving you details about what's happening in the story. If this had no purpose, Ellie would have remained silent, but no, she says, "Who the fuck are they talking about?"

I saw the spoilers and after hearing them talk, I said to myself, "Oh, so that's what's going on."

I think people will see what I mean after playing the game.

Ellie wonders about that Isaac guy (or girl, maybe :messenger_grimmacing_).

The random character and it’s random insertion dialogue saying: “look, I’m a lesbian. Isn’t that cool!” I pretty much doubt it has anything to do with the plot and seems to be just more SJW fanservice.

It’s pretty much a given we were going to see stuff like this that makes SJW salivate with joy.

Go ahead bro, get it all out lol

Thank you. I couldn’t do it without people like you getting so triggered by the simple identification of an agenda.

That’s where things get really fun :messenger_smirking:

Reasons I cant take you or your arguments seriosuly is because your a grown man (I assume) and you're talking like a damn child. Seriously, people need to drop their own agenda bullshit and need to learn to have a discussion without using idiotic phrases

also Isacc is probably that African American man you see in anee screen shot, woudnt be surprised if he was Nora's dad

Then the story has an identity politics agenda, according to you.

Would Anita be okay with women being hung up on ropes & pinned to the ground with arrows? I’m asking because this game has plenty of violence “against women.” Would she be okay with that?

I don’t know, third wave feminism is a totally contradictory ideology in which anybody putting a little bit of thought, can claim that literally anything is misoginy.

One feminism can claim they are finally treating women as equal by not being only men the ones who receive the violence in the battlefield and therefore being the only ones being corageuous, brave and getting shit done.

And another feminism can infere what you were infering, that any violence against women is always misoginy and therefore it shouldn’t exist.

Both positions are feminist positions, both are contradictory and stupid, but that’s one of the reasons it’s so fun to make fun of feminists.

Interesting. GoT showed arrows to the face, but I guess that's different than blowing someone away with a shotty.

I would bet the game is still just as violent.

You = lesbian characters is bad and they're pushing identity politics.

You think it serves no purpose other than to show that these characters are lesbian.

I'll show you something that happens in another segment of the game.

Halley: And she hears over the radio that a male trespasser has been spotted. And she knows that the WLF are closing in on him."

Easy Allies played a demo of this game and they could also hear AI talking about this man if you listen to their conversations closely.

@19:00 "You know you're stealth you hear the enemies just talking freely about all sorts of stuff. The guy over there.. they're like, "What do we do? Do we go after him?" they're like no because she's here too, like she's around.

NOTE: This is a possible spoiler. It's not from the leaked content, but it comes directly from the journalist who played the demo during Outbreak day.

Gamergate never stopped, it's just part of the scene now. The problem is that some people (many?) to act like anything that has traces of SJWism is bad (kind of like in opposition to orange man bad)... I think neither are right or completely wrong, I mean, you can have great stories/actions in any context, and calling out racism should be done--just don't label everything racist, and don't act like only white people can be called the r word as well, and don't pre-judge people/products either.

This game isn’t pulling any punches. I’ve already seen plenty of SJW’s complain about the game already.

both sides are just mirrors of themselves and just as pathetic as one another. Neither side will be fully satisfied with this game.

I do agree that sometimes it seems like it's impossible to make anyone happy in gaming/entertainment. Seems like creative directors are damned if they do, damned if they don't, in SOME cases.

2. Do you really think the coronavirus is going to affect any of it sales?

Assuming they would have not had physical copies ready for a sufficient launch yesterday, no it would not have sold more than it will on June 19th.

I feel like a lot of people have forgotten about the virus right now in America. I don't know if it will hurt or help TLOU2 game sales.

It's the jump in fidelity, since ND's character models are never based on actual humans, they adapt the proportions to what it seems more natural in animation and fidelity wise. This has happened with every Uncharted for example.

I think both look better overall, Joel just looks older now and more tired.

I think you are missing my point which is that if you look at most anything in terms of "representation" (in the sense of IdPol) you are pretty much certain to find something problematic regardless of your personal standing on the issue.

The perspective, the process in itself, is the trap.

Which is why I'm trying to appeal to you not to look at it in those terms, because its a no-win situation. However the scenario is composed in terms of race, gender, sexcuality etc. Someone is always going to find fault. Too progressive, too traditional, there is no "just right" formulation!

I know all that. I'm just a rational person that can assess things without ever investing completely in them. At this point we're only in the speculative stage. I haven't seen the leaks and have no intention of doing so. That's why I've maintained the speculative state. This is my 'basic' thinking on this:

We know for certain Neil has an agenda. It's a given, so my options are:

1: TLOU2 will show that agenda overtly to a degree that will effect my enjoyment of it.
2: TLOU2 will be subtle and the agenda will be written cleverly enough to not spoil my enjoyment of it.
3: TLOU2 will not have any agenda at all

I have to discount 3 because it seems unlikely that Neil would go out of his way to mention an agenda only to not use it. He wouldn't appoint people who align with that agenda and he wouldn't follow someone who is at the forefront of that agenda. I would also not see members of his team interpreting others from the viewpoint of that agenda.

I'm merely pointing out things that 'could' (possibly, maybe, perhaps) demonstrate 1, although I'm hoping it's going to be 2. I cannot evaluate whether it's 1 or 2 for certain until I have context and have played the game. At that point I'll give my opinion based on context and decide whether it was 1 or 2.

My counter is simply that when there is no empirically correct formula for representation, its inevitable that the result of any observation on that criterion is going to be a false negative!

My counter is simply that when there is no empirically correct formula for representation, its inevitable that the result of any observation on that criterion is going to be a false negative!

That's a fair point. Remember though, I spent over 20 years pursuing a writing career so I'm looking at this from that perspective. That's the context I'm interested in. For instance, if there's a transvestite in the game (PLEASE SAY NOTHING IF THERE IS), even though that may be an indication they've been added because of the agenda, I won't give a damn if the writing is good and the context feels natural.

Look alright although I would like to just see a pure game-play segment. Even now what they show seems, not scripted, but very controlled. For me I imagine I'll enjoy it the same way I did TLOU 1. I didn't connect much with the game-play but the characters kept me invested enough to finish it in two sittings.

It's the jump in fidelity, since ND's character models are never based on actual humans, they adapt the proportions to what it seems more natural in animation and fidelity wise. This has happened with every Uncharted for example.

I think both look better overall, Joel just looks older now and more tired.
They also made her look more like Ashley Johnson.
