AC:O was fantastic which means this game will be AC:O with new skins. I've long since learned to skip at least one iteration in between for there to be some actual progression in the mechanics.

Copy/Paste the review for AC:O and just include the word "vikings" a lot

Doubt it. The environment and storyline will be completely different, obviously. Gameplay, sure, but that hasn't really changed much since AC2. I play AC games mostly for the environment and story.

Let's see tomorrow how they turn Vikings into woke people and pretend they never raped or abducted any women from other lands.

I assume they'll portray the protagonist as a hero of sorts, defending the good (or what's left of "good" in viking culture), while rightfully portraying their leaders and war clans as savages.

The last two games were both AC:O, are you referring to Origins or Odyssey? :pie_thinking:

As for myself, I hear this game is made by Ashraf Ismail and Ubisoft Montreal who made Origins, and I thought that was a great entry so this should be too. The world of Egypt was fantastic, best open-world I've experienced.

Good point, was referring to Odyssey and likewise I had skipped Origins and greatly enjoyed Odyssey

odds there is next gen gameplay? I’m going with zero % chance

Yeah it will be interesting to see. Maybe a cross-gen release with some patch upgrade since usually their release dates fall in the same window as next-gen Consoles.

Full blown next-gen game? I think I'd have to say doubtful. Loved to be proven wrong though.

I never played Origins, and I’m still working through Odyssey.

Gonna definitely play Valhalla on either XsX or PS5 (I’m assuming it’s gonna be cross gen). Looking forward to it.

Storming castles as a Viking will be cool

Brilliant. I love AC Odyssey, it’s my highest single player game in playing hours, beat the long time record held by Final Fantasy 12.
And I’m still playing it.

This will be day 1.

thanks, that was my first question.. I saw “Valhalla” and wondered if they’d bring in some of what they did with the Curse of the Pharaohs dlc, the environment design there was outstanding

Somehow I thought they had more than two AC teams..

wonder how much it’ll be like Black Flag - no Viking pyramids to climb, or Viking Rome..

I mean I'd say worst announcement method ever, but a fuckton of people watched the stream and we're all talking about it (for better or worse) so I guess they got what they wanted.

Incoming memes of "The Earth has rotated 365 days on it's axis and the Ubisoft guy is still painting".

If that Cinematic CGI shit is real, It's going to be the shittiest presentation of recent times. Even their last game, Odyssey was introduced with an in-game engine.

I expect Sony to do something similar. 10h of watching paint dry and then have someone push the PS5 with a broomstick into frame!

Fu## you ubisoft for wasting everyones time.

I was never really an AC fan until I played the last one. That one really clicked with me and I loved every bit of it. Looking forward to seeing where they go with this one tomorrow.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
I mean, the concept art looks pretty cool. Interested to see the reveal trailer and/or gameplay. I loved the last two games a lot.

Just curious as I haven’t played assassins creed since 2. Is the story still about the animus (I think that was the name?!) and what happened to the cool assassins creed wear? Where’s the white robe? It was already gone in the Egypt one?

The idea looks interesting to me...although the character from the artwork seems kinda familiar and generic to me. Gonna see and wait how it ends.

The new games are 99.9% happening in the past, and 0.01% happening in the present day.

thats .. good I think?! Heard only good things about the last game. But is the present story still progressing, I mean that’s what it was all about in the beginning.

I’m excited for the trailer, though most probably won’t play it as the franchise for whatever reason doesn’t appeal to me anymore. Maybe because they dished out so many games in such a short amount of time back then.

The overall "present day" story more or less stopped with Assassin's Creed 3 or 4 and has kind of stagnated since. Not to give away too many spoilers, but Origins and Odyssey actually give us more insight into the original creation of the Assassins and Templars and do almost nothing for the modern day story (you're a very minor side character and the plot goes almost nowhere).

I have to assume at some point we'll get an actual Assassin's Creed 5 that furthers the modern story in a significant way.

Hopefully the combat isn't as janky and amateurish as the previous two games. And I also hope that the cities feel like actual cities as it was in Unity and Syndicate.

LOL the entire stream was to announce the info that already leaked a long time ago?

Anyway, Odyssey was decent if not quite great so I'm in for a similar game with Vikings. Hopefully they improve the combat and the story isn't crap, though I doubt it.

Amazing. Cant wait for trailer. Still playing origins pharaon dlc and oddysey is not done yet. But i wanna see now whats new awaits.
More analog combat like in unity would be great, slower but better.

From what I can gather about the Artist Boss Logic he is just a online Digital Artist/Manipulation Artist (as stated on his ArtStation) who has managed to get his photoshops/digital artwork noticed by entertainment industry, Kind of like a Social Media artist I think. He has managed as far as I know to design exclusive Blu-Ray packaging from Spider-Man far from home in america.

It’s probably just a hype stunt by Ubisoft in conjunction with a Artist/Fan who could turn around a piece within one day & have the ability stream it to an audience, rather than them getting an official box Artist who could potentially cost more & possibly take longer especially in our current climate.

Though i could be completely wrong & this will end up the official art for the game, I just hope he got paid as well as the free social media promotion.

I remember the days I wouldn't be able to sleep with anticipation for an Assassin's Creed game, but not I feel sadness because I don't care for the franchise anymore. What happened? :(

No idea... Other than Unity (and Syndicate, since it followed Unity), I've been pretty hyped for them all. Origins and Odyssey represented a fantastic change in direction for the gameplay systems that had gotten quite stale by Syndicate.
