[Rumour] Microsoft to bring 'Xbox First' Ori and the Blind Forest to Switch

So, if these rumors turn out valid, it sounds like Microsoft is once again turning to the Nintendo Switch in order to sell one of their (console) exclusive games.

Chances are it will be Ori and the Blind Forest, which is an excellent 2D Metroidvania.

I loved this game personally, and I'll gladly double-dip to have this on the hybrid console.

This isn’t too surprising. They’ve had success in the past with the Nintendo Switch so I can see many titles moving there.

What a silly wording for that title.

Does MS owns the IP? If so, more money for them anyways. Switch is selling like hotcakes as well as their software.

They own distribution of both Ori and Cuphead. Cuphead at least I believe MDHR still owns the IP, if they means either company can produce sequels on other systems who knows. Surprised Microsoft hasn't thrown the bank at both of them. I guess having exclusivity of the two best 2D platformers of the generation is enough.

I paid good money for this Dynex!
Wouldn't be surprising. Microsoft's been pretty open with this game, seeing as how it's been on Steam and GOG for a looooong time - even before they became a bit more willing to play ball with other platforms.

Isn't every Xbox game on PC?

I adore Ori, but I dread playing through certain sections on a handheld screen...

OK.

So when are we Xbox gamers getting something in return, perhaps Pokemon on Xbox?

Because surely in a deal you both give something and take something, not just give give give but never take, right?

They're getting a) Access to a lot of kid's wallets for Minecraft crap and b) PR points for being "Those guys who'll play ball on cross play"

If this ends up being true which I believe it is, Ori will sell millions on Switch. Easily. It's an excellent game and the sequel is coming out in six months. This makes me wonder if the sequel will be day one on Switch or later on. I would imagine that it can't be that hard to port it over from Xbox One/PC to Switch.

It’s not how this gonna work. They take the game and they’ll give money

Nintendo doesn’t need to give money for games that’s for sure

Absolutely zero chance of Nintendo exclusives on Xbox.

Have you seen the sales of Nintendo first party games for the Switch? All of their tentpole franchises have sold 15 million copies so far. With sales like that we will never see Nintendo games on any other consoles ever.

Yes but Pokémon and MARIO is on mobile, so add them on Xbox One then.

Lower the resolution enough and you can play anything on switch. I dont see Ori being comprimised though. It was in development for 360 so switch should be fine.

Not really bud, MS needs this more then Nintendo. By that logic Sony should be "give" to MS because of Minecraft Dungeons.... What is Nintendo giving to Ubisoft for Ubisoft making that Mario RPG game? So MS isn't giving them anything, MS is making money from the games sales.

No one put a gun to MS head and told them to go 3rd party, that is a choice they made all their own from losing several generations in a row.

Are there seriously people expecting Mario and Zelda on Xbox? Wow.

Microsoft needs Nintendo - not the other way around. Microsoft isn't doing this as a means to get Nintendo games on Xbox, they're well aware that will never happen. They're doing this simply to find an audience to buy their games.

Totally. There will be no equivalent exchange for games on Xbox unfortunately. I would like to see it though.

If Switch can handle The Witcher 3 it sure as hell can do Sunset Overdrive.
It ran at a pretty low res on the Xbox One tho. And the Witcher looks like ass on Switch.

On topic, great news for Switch owners getting our sloppy seconds. It’s been on Xbox for 4 years, so Big Papa Phil can spread the love a little.

I bet he wouldn't call Odyssey or Smash "sloppy seconds" if it was announced for Xbox.

I think he probably knows that's not happening.

But, speaking of "Odyssey", I would live to see Lost Odyssey make it's way to Switch. I'd love to replay that and on the handheld/console hybrid Switch would be perfect.

They can keep Blue Dragon though. Once was enough for that one.

There's a few 360 jrpgs I would like to see ported to the Switch:
-Cross Edge
-Magna Carta 2
-Lost Odyssey
-Infinite Undiscovery
-Eternal Sonata
Just a few among others that I would like to play on a portable.

Just confirmed on Nintendo Indie Gamescom show

Awesome!

Of course, I've always said I purchased my $500 Xbox One for two great exclusives - Cuphead and Ori. I guess I'll just have to swallow my pride and admit I wasted half a grand. Oh well.

Yeah, Xbox Live users on Switch.

Now let me tell you something!

I have no problem with Xbox games coming to other platforms. Why?
Because it doesn't mean that a game is removed from a platform, just the opposite, another platform is added so this means even more players.
So more platforms = more gamers = good thing. But this is not the issue here.

What I am referring to is the same thing with PC.
PC platform is getting a bunch of Xbox games, thats fine.
Halo, Gears and so on.

But why cant we see PC games on Xbox?
Why not Age of Empires, Flight Simulator or Dota2 on Xbox One?

Surely the same thinking should be applied here, right?

Because when I'm talking about give something and take something.
I'm not referring that MS should "capture" an exclusive and just release it on Xbox.
I ALSO want the Xbox to get these games. Another gaming platform = more gamers!

Isn't that a reasonable way of thinking?

And reason is that i dont have a PC or other consoles. Im satisfied with one console so I want to have one console for most games.

First off, Age Of Empires and Flight Simulator are MS titles, you'll likely see it on XB down the road, but DoTa2? Like I said "Not really bud, MS needs this more then Nintendo" as in MS needs this more then Valve.... soooooo MS is the one that needs this, not Sony, not Nintendo, not Valve. So when you have Nintendo breaking records, Sony breaking records and Valve is a beast all on its own, they have no ode to devalue their brand with some of their IP, MS on the other hand is coming across selling the least units for the 3rd generation in a row. Clearly what they are doing isn't working and putting games on all platforms makes more sense for MS, then Sony, Nintendo, Valve etc.

Sooooo stop arguing for everyone else to be as bad as MS to do such moves, that is a MS situation, Valve has no ode to put Dota2 anywhere else right now, they could never do that and still make mega millions, thats an option for them, thats mandatory for MS...

Nintendo will move millions with Pokemon
Sony will move millions with The Last Of Us 2
Valve will still make millions with the IP they have and Steam

Neither has much reason to need to put games on all devices as some hail mary move, that is what MS needs atm.

Because when I'm talking about give something and take something.

I mean....thats nice and all but beggars can't be choosers. MS is in this situation because of how poorly they've done this entire generation, they have literally changed their messaging to state they are seeking to put their content on all devices. That is MS move, not Sony's, Nintendo's or Valves.... Take that up with MS, but stop assuming that MS being this desperate suddenly means Sony, Nintendo and Valve must all put their games on XB or something, MS is the one that needs to spread their IP even on devices they don't own to get by, that isn't an issue for Sony, Nintendo or Valve, those are simply nice options, not mandatory.

Im satisfied with one console so I want to have one console for most games.

For someone that wants those other publishers games, you backed the wrong platform. I'd argue you are better off actually getting a PC or another system as look at it like this, MS is the one that is putting their titles on lots of devices, not Sony, Valve or Nintendo.......as in, it makes more sense to get a different platform if you seek to only have 1, why would you want the one platform that basically is putting titles on all other platforms when it would make more sense to just get one of those other platforms if you are getting MS titles AND the ones you want that won't come to XB?

Thats like saying you'd buy a EA console and EA is putting games on all other devices, BUT those other publishers are not putting games on EA's console, then you beg and say stuff like "Isn't that a reasonable way of thinking?" or "But why cant we see Ubisoft games on EA Box?" or "Surely the same thinking should be applied here, right?" So...."should" is irrelevant.

Its not happening, thats the point. Let this generation teach you that what you think "should" happen based on some strange moral concept is just irrelevant to business. MS is going multiplatform because of their issues as of late, getting their platform will only net you titles you will already be able to buy else where anyway.... you legit only gain the ablity to play a multiplatform game, you lose the ability to play God Of War, Pokemon, Smash Bros, Horizon Zero Dawn, Dota2 etc.

Maybe you are better off with a PC, its why I have zero interest in getting a XB, I already own a PC, why would I then buy a platform to receive the same titles by MS and even less content overall? You can have all of MS titles AND Dota2 bud.
