Pretty much this. I asked for my account to get nuked after my last ban just expired, but I'm not like holding a grudge or anything. The moderation over there is just asinine to me, and they clearly don't want me around either so whatever. I'm not gonna act like some bitter jilted ex though.

This all seems very standard stuff? If I were managing/owner of a web forum I'd want all of these things in the user agreement. The problem is their management philosophy seems to encourage being thought police and incredibly heavy handed over stupid shit. So meh, I moved on (meaning moved back to here I guess), y'all should too.

That's not what the agreement says. They're establishing in very broad terms that they reserve the right to report your ass to law enforcement or sue your ass if you post something that a) is illegal or b) causes them damages in some way that's actionable, they can take legal action. That doesn't mean I expect a visit from the FBI or to get sued because I had the audacity to say the Ghostbusters remake sucked ass; they just banned me for 30 days for being dismissive of representation concerns. But considering what happened to this site after Evilore got #MeToo'd, it's not out of the realm of possibilities that someone could post something that's incredibly damaging to a site's viability, maliciously and without merit, just to fuck with it. Or post something heinously illegal that needs to be reported. The agreement basically sets out that you don't get the "it's just a prank bro!" excuse for shitposting something like that. You do something bad enough, they can do something about it...and that seems entirely fair for a private forum providing a service for free.

If they report you to the feds for thinking gender is binary, they'll just be ruining their credibility anyway.

I fully understand but still don't trust the moderation on Era with ANY sort of realized/actual power. Like if I posted an OT about guns, I can guarantee I would be put on some sort of list. That scares me.

I don't disagree, I did tell them to just nuke my account after this latest run in I had with the moderation. As far as the user agreement goes, however, there's nothing particularly troubling to me in it, it seems like standard CYA shit I'd want to have if I were running a forum too. The problem is the philosophy that the people running the show seem to have.

Assuming my son/daughter was like me but was given a better life, I can't see them using forums at all. If they went on Resetera, first thing they would notice is all the brain dead hot takes and mod corruption. They would switch off the computer and find something more productive to do.

I've been at least lurking on "GAF" pre-NeoGAF since 2001. I'd imagine someone in their late 20's online then has a kid in their late teens to mid-20's now.
