Looks like more of a movie than a game. When I saw Refn, I laughed.
Isn't this game coming out too quickly for a kojima game?
Nice, yeah that was the impression I got but, you know, information about this game hasn't exactly been plentiful. You wont actually meet anyone else but like in Dark Souls, you can follow traces of other players or leave things for each other.
Kojima hit a turn on his career with MGS4, btw hasn't gameplay always been ripped apart from reviewers?Looks like more of a movie than a game. When I saw Refn, I laughed.
Extended jap version !
New gameplay boss from 6:05.
So the official website actually explains things a lot more clearly. It's interesting how specific Sony marketing will have to be in its messaging for this game considering the obscure concepts involved. I feel a heavy Dark Souls influence already:
What is Death Stranding?
From legendary game creator Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear Solid) comes an all-new, genre-defying open world action adventure for PS4, starring Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux and Lindsay Wagner.
In the near future, mysterious explosions have rocked the globe, setting off a series of supernatural events known as the Death Stranding. With otherworldly creatures plaguing the landscape, and mass extinction imminent, it’s up to Sam Porter Bridges to travel across the ravaged wasteland and save humanity from impending annihilation.
Face unique challenges
Arm yourself and take aim at a variety of objectives in your mission to reunite a broken nation, while balancing under the weight of your cargo as you travel. Protect your supplies from wild bandits, and stay safe from the terrifying Beached Things… or face failing those who depend on you.
Death is not the end
There is no traditional ‘game over’ state in Death Stranding. Lose your life during combat and you’ll find yourself in an upside-down realm, searching for a way back to the living. Choose your combat methods carefully, as killing your foe is almost never the solution – and every death carries a consequence
Assist other players
Help other travellers without ever crossing paths via asynchronous online gameplay. Send supplies, share safe houses and walk in the footsteps of fellow couriers to reunite civilization.
Do you play Kojima games? Cause gameplay is the main draw but the story is always great too. MGSV was heavily praised for it's gameplay and systems, particularly the freedom it granted players with mechs, partners, fulton and arm mods. Kojima also creates the most amazing characters and boss battles that challenge you mentally well beyond just shooting weak spots...Kojima hit a turn on his career with MGS4, btw hasn't gameplay always been ripped apart from reviewers?

There's going to be an entire generation of young gamers going to Gamestop to pick this up because of word of mouth, that will never in their lives saw a game with creativity and imagination like this. It's going to blow their minds and create a new demand for fresh experiences. This is good for gaming.
Much like when I played MGS1.That's the way it was with Metal Gear Solid 2, I was still a kid when I played it, it totally blew my mind in a way nothing had before, game or otherwise.
I mean it was basically a life changing event, got me to look at the world in a different way.
Yoji Shinkawa the GOAT!Whether this game succeeds is left to be seen, but as an artist myself, The visual majesty Kojima has created here should not be ignored. At its current state, it's already visually and creatively a masterpiece IMO.

Agree 100%. I would be happy if there was no shooting at all in a game this visually intriguingI sincerely hope there is much less focus on gunplay and more focus given towards traversal and non-comabtive gameplay. Those tool mechanics have got me the most excited tbh. Next-gen, I would love to see more AAA games give players more agency beyond shoot/kill/defeat. It can potentially lead to a new means to tell stories, at least imo.
My screenshot folder for Death Stranding will definitely end up being in the gigabytes haha.
Of course. I should pay my respect. Without him, this game wouldn't be possible.Yoji Shinkawa the GOAT!
If you go to their official website there is a description of the game.Jus watched the trailer and I still don't know what it's about.
No. MGS2 took 3 years, MGS3 took 3 years and MGS4 took 4 years. MGSV released on 2015 and Death Stranding coming 2019 so that’s 4 years. Seems his time innit?Isn't this game coming out too quickly for a kojima game?

But still, working a new engine for the first time. This counts tooShould also note that with MGSV he built the Fox Engine from nothing. In this case, the Decima engine was handed to him, no doubt saving a ton of time and resources.
