It was the most trivial thing in the world. My mom basically signed me up to the gym. When I noticed the monthly fee being deducted from my card, I couldn't let the money go to waste.

Then in time I started reading about fitness and learning everything along the way. Tweaking my habits and seeing what worked.

Wow, lol, so basically thanks mom and cheers to being a cheapass! ;) j/k

Any comments on your strategies of eliminating bad habits and starting good ones?

Unreal!
OP could you also tell us how you're feeling.

Well right around the time of the picture I was almost passing out, since I insisted on fasting for 20 hours to look my leanest.

In general though this past year has been a great boost in confidence. Men and women come up to me all the time and compliment me. I get to wear really nice form fitting clothes and look stylish. :D

Grats. You've been extremely lucky with regard to loose skin (and stretch marks).

Unless you had it removed via surgery, but all good either way.

How many hours per week do (did) you devote to this as in including measuring food, going out of your way to shop for stuff, working out including pre and post mucking around?
Do you find socializing the toughest, as in limiting alcohol and mysterious restaurant meals or that time when everyone is over and someone is like, let's order 6 large pizzas..

If you don't mind me asking, how old are you?

29 in October.

OP

Good job and please tell us the difference with the ladies as a comparison?

If you don't mind sharing

I've always been really confident so I never had problems engaging women before. Now it is actually more of a problem because women and men randomly approach me. I get cat called all the time but I take it all very humorously.

So honest question here, because I keep wanting to get in shape.

As far as the skin issue after you lost weight, did everything tighten up or did you have to get surgery to remove the extra skin?

Either way, great job OP.

Good lord man!!! Alright, you have inspired me to completely give up red meat. I already bike 6 miles everyday, but I will increase free hand weight lifting exercises, as well as as reduce my carb intake.

Congrats. I'm working on losing weight right now, hoping to hit 190, then I plan on working out to gain muscle definition over the long haul. I think I've got a great body shape for it, I've just never really done it.

How much are you eating now? I am the same age, height but started off very skinny so need to eat 3k calories a day and around 150g of protein.

That's awesome man! I'm in the middle of a similar transition, went from just around 200lb to 165lb this year, also 6ft. Now I'm trying to add some structure to my routine an get some clearer goals for myself. I only have the beginnings of abs, I know I'll need to really pay attention to what I'm doing to get the exact body I want.

Thanks for this post though, it's the exact motivation I needed right now.

Look under my belly, that's what loose skin looks like. When I sit down my stomach gets a lot of skinfolds sort of like a dog. When I go prone my skin literally hangs.

You can take some Collagen to help you out with the tightening but in the grand scheme of things this is nothing but a slight inconvenience in comparison to being obese.

Amazing transformation! I've also lost about 80-85 pounds of fat over the past couple of years (from 310 to ~240, but I put on at least 10-15 pounds of muscle in that time, so a net loss of 80+ pounds of actual fat), but I still have a ways to go to approach your results there.

You said you were sticking to 1800 calories/day on MFP basically the entire time? Even when you were in the 270-295 pound range? Man, that's tough. I stick to 2050 calories (even on gym days), and it is simply NOT a lot of food for a guy my size (6'1'/240 lbs). It's difficult some days - I can't even imagine cutting 250 MORE calories on top of that lol.

That's a really good way to look at it. Thanks for the response!

I've just seen some really weird stories about this before, so that's why I thought I'd ask, but yours is barely noticeable in that picture.

Whats your current routine now man, I know you gave us a bit of it in the OP but I'd like to know the fully fleshed out routine. Insane results btw!

What is the timing on your fasting?

Also what were your calorie deficit in the first six months?

My first meal is always around noon or a bit after so I try to eat dinner by 8pm to do a 16 hour fast. On workout days I have a shake after my workout around 11pm so for the next day I end fasting a few hours less.

Great work man. As someone else who went through a similar journey it definitely feels amazing to see other people to do the same. Keep at it.
