The Steam equivalent of the drunk friend who keeps offering to pay your tab all night.
man I missed the claymore, I knew I had a good ass sword early on the first time I played the game. For some reason, I didnt go up those stairs to that dragon area at all this time around.

Well I know exactly the reason, its because I'm kinda, not rushing per se, because I'm still collecting every item I find and shit, but I'm deffinately playing more fast and loose than the first time around, as all I really want is to get back to the end game to do the dlc.

I should go back and get it tho, its a STR sword right? Probably better than the broadsword which I'm STILL using.

it's great, i just imbued it with fire and didn't put points into str and used that for the entire game

a few enemies are strong against fire so against those i used the dark axe you get in that first dungeon too

but claymore is the best

I didnt even realize Disney's Castle of Illusion is back in the steam store.

I remember those 85-90% deals that Indie Gala and Humble Store had because the game was being taken down few months back (I think Jan of this year?).

Glad its back but I'm also glad got it for cheap lol.

Yes, it started as a Vita game so it has much smaller maps. It is surprisingly deep though, with its own costume system where dressing as a slave/socialite/assassin gives you different abilities. It also has a full trading/shipping mini game similar to the one in AC3 where you try to make money buying goods from one area and selling them elsewhere.

It's a neat idea, but -- and this is a big but -- Ubi cut it off at the knees by having missions force the use of a particular outfit, which is precisely where the mechanic could have been used to inject some player agency. To be fair, though, a Hitmanesque approach wasn't going to happen in a modestly-budgeted handheld title.

Edit: It just occurred to me that I never got around to playing the Aveline DLC in Black Flag. I was saving it until after I was done with Liberation, but for some reason the game was listed as supported by GameSave Manager even though, at the time, all it backed up was the config file -- a fact I didn't become aware of until after I'd reinstalled Windows.

i really like the world map element, really reminds me of fallout 1 and 2

slower combat is also really good since rtwp is impossible to really follow at fast speeds and if they just can make it slow enough that it's sort of turn based but still action-y then that would make everyone happy

i should play the dlc and tyranny some day

maybe when i'm dead and have more free time than now

can't remember exactly how i played it but i feel like it was still too chaotic for me, as all rtwp games are

i always feel like rtwp is lame cos it's a lot about micromanaging which feels really unsatisfying compared to the higher impact actions of turn based games

like it feels really menial and tedious to have to use the same abilities over and over and repath people and such

it's generally not an issue cos most fights are resolved with little input but it never quite feels fun to me

turn based has its problems too, but i like it a lot more

i'm bad at micromanaging, probably part of the reason why i like league so much while i've never been into rtses

Sounds like what you need is FFXII's gambit system. It allows you to create your own Ai for party members so you don't have to manage them on a micro level.

It's honestly very unfortunate that this system never took off for rwtp games, even tho dragon age tried.

Seems like my G400 mouse has gone kaput. I can tolerate the mouse scroll not working, but now even the right click is unresponsive. Is G402 a good replacement?

I would say so. I like my G402, but it often has sales (at least here in Germany). Its usually available for around 30-38€ during amazon sales.

You can just have it so it goes into slow mode whenever the combat starts. That was fine for me at least.
Personally I never used slow mode. I just pause when I need to make an adjustment.

And yes, in very challenging fight this can mean pausing every few seconds, but I have absolutely no issue with that.
In fact, I consider the ability to vary the pausing intervals and adjust them to the level of challenge of a fight (and even different phases in a single fight) the greatest asset of RTwP.

I paused a lot too, but I found that slow mode, along with proper auto pause settings, let me keep control of the situation in fights. The flexibility is certainly the best asset of RTwP, as you say.

Ready for the Steam sale, by beating Thimbleweed Park that I've had going since the release, in short bursts.

It was ok, some of the locations were great, with awesome art, and I liked a lot of the animations and Ransome's dialogues. But it was quite rough in it's places, teased a lot mysteries only to ditch them completely, didn't utilize the different characters, had red herrings all over the place, and I did not like the ending at all. Of the kickstarter adventure games, Broken Age was far superior imho (which of course can be explained by the much higher budget).

Hoping for a good sale on Obduction now, for my next adventure game fix.

Anyone knows if I can remove the account restriction (card drops) by buying sth. for 5€ and directly gifting it?

I activated a lot of bundle stuff on my wives Steam account, but she cant drop the cards, so I thought "Well. Just buy something for 5€ and then gift it to me."

You can. Any $5 store purchase lifts the restrictions, including adding $5 to your wallet (be it via the store or with a code).

Edit: Oh, wait, I misread your post. That wouldn't lift the restrictions on her account as she didn't activate/spend the $5.

Oh? I mean she is spending 5€ with her paypal account and Steam account to buy a game, then gifts it to me.

I expect to complete Assassin's Creed today, at the latest tomorrow, but I am left to wonder what the outskirts were even for. I used fast traveling (thank goodness it came up after the first few missions), so haven't ridden through the outskirts much. I did back when I played it on Xbox 360 but that's many years ago. Aren't they outskirts just for collectathon's anyway?

ready for the sale with 18,46€ made solely from card sales (thanks valve). although its about 3 times less than what i had for winter sale. all cards are cheap now it seems.

i probably had more last time also thanks to payday stuff though, which btw grew on price for some reason since i last checked. even the sputnik safe is €0,39! if you have those still sitting around ever since it wasn't even worth to list them (for €0,04), now it may be worth it

it doesn't feel like sale in here, no hype or anything

steam exploded with anime too, anybody here have seen Chaos;Child?
it has nothing to do with Chaos;Head and Steins;Gate, right? just double checking

It's a sequel to Chaos;Head which was referenced in Steins;Gate. Just going to wait for the VN to release going by how terribly Chaos;Head translated to anime.

Yeah, there's nothing out there but some flags, which are pointless in the PC and PS3 versions of the game as neither support achievements and your health bar/sync rate maxes out through normal play.

Oh rock of ages, do not crumble, love is breathing still. Oh lady moon shine down, a little people magic if you will.

Don't forget the 60 Templars who are just standing there, looking into oblivion, waiting for death's sweet embrace.

I've added a section for the Steam Sale thread regarding gifting:
'Gifting has changed; cross region gifting of ROW copies of games can't be done through Steam now.

Any items bought on Steam must be gifted upon purchase & you can't gift to someone in a different region, e.g. someone in Spain can't gift through Steam to someone in China.

As such, if you wish to gift Steam games, buy keys instead.'

I'm miffed that it didn't allow you to use fast mode during combat to "skip" easy fights, or just fast forward when you know you the fight is essentially over. Maybe make it a toggle in the options, so that people don' get themselves easily killed.

Deadfire will have an AI scripting UI inspired by those two games.

It can provided the price difference is <10%.

Got to get those sick backgrounds for all the people who don't look at my profile.

It's the one, utterly pointless whale esqe thing I've been sucked into. All the games I could have bought by selling thousands of cards sigh.

Yeah, I like crafting badges, but I only do it for games I really like. I even crafted a level 5 badges for the Sega Genesis Collection. It's stupid, but it makes me happy :)
