can anyone help me?
i'm having issues when opening apps other than games. like netflix or bluray player app. when i open it sometimes it comes up and then immediately my screen goes blank and the tv says "no signal", yet i can move the thumbstick and hear the audio sometimes. other times the apps completly crash and i have to restart my console. i spent 30 minutes the other night just trying to watch spectre bluray and finally it worked, but really for no rhyme or reason. one time i got it to work by unplugging hdmi cable and plugging back in.
any idea on what to try? i feel like i've messed with settings quite a bit but could be missing something.
tv - lg e6 oled - hdmi deep color on
avr - pioneer vsx45 (hdcp 2.2, hdr compliant) - upscaling off
amazon 18gbps hdmi cables (Meets the latest HDMI standards (4K Video at 60 Hz, 2160)
xbs - output at 4k, 10 bit, standard color setting

Have you tried bypassing the AVR?
Try connecting without the receiver to see if it works. This way we can see if it is a problem with the TV in general.

I got my Storm Gray S in yesterday. I also got my PS4 Pro yesterday as well. I was able to swap out my XB1 OG for the S and start playing my games before the old PS4 finished backing up less than 500GB of data. So thankful for external HD support.
Anyway, the system looks very nice and the controller feels good. Unfortunately, I did not get one of the "silent" ones. I have the worst luck with product variation, I always get the loud versions of consoles, the TVs with banding, DSE, etc. Or maybe I'm just sensitive to these issues. The S is a little louder than the OG but not by much. The fan has that same fluttery, chirpy noise to it that both of my Day 1 OG models had. My OG got a lot quieter over time, so I'm hopeful this will do the same. From a seating distance, you can't really hear it unless the game or movie is silent, like sitting at the dashboard, and even then you have to sorta be listening for it. Not a huge deal.
Maybe it's just placebo, but I swear BC games like Reach and RDR feel smoother and more responsive on the S. I know the S is supposed to be a tiny bit faster in some games but I wasn't sure if I would be able to tell.
I'm pretty happy with it overall. My only complaints are the chirpy fan and I kinda wish it were a bit darker. The gray color is very nice but I would have preferred black. Oh well, when the lights are out it disappears into the entertainment center so that's good enough.

Has anyone else's Hey Cortana to wake up the One S just stopped working? It seems to be the past week or so for me and I was on vacation before that week so there may have been an update auto installed, just not 100% sure so wondering if anyone else is having that issue of Cortana no longer waking the console (and subsequent components) up with a voice command. Voice commands do work once the console is on.

As soon as I received mine and saw what entailed I just hooked up my harmony remote to my amazon echo and set it as is. I refuse to set it up with that mess of wires.

So I bought a XBO S controller to replace my eight year old XB360 pad and I'm noticing response issues with the face buttons (A,B,X,Y) where light presses don't register or at least not consistently and only do after I press down more firmly. I haven't done a ton of testing of it wired since the only micro USB cable I have is relatively short so I'm not totally sure if it could be an issue with BT (which I'm using a USB dongle for) or just an issue with the controller itself either a flaw or a needs to be broken in.
Broke down and got the 2TB S today. I only have a 1080p TV but I got the PS4 Pro and I was sad that my Xbone was all old and big so I pulled the trigger.

Probably requires a software update so it decodes the correct video stream.
4K videos on Youtube come in three flavors
* H.264/AVC - basic compatibility option lowest bitrate, 30fps
* VP9 - higher bitrate 60fps
* VP9 Profile 2/10bit - higher bitrate, 60fps, HDR
The latest 4K stuff from Google & Netflix is using VP9 10-bit.

Interesting as mine still does that just no longer with voice. So I'd day there's issues with this feature for sure. Thanks for sharing.
Only if you are playing a BC game on X1 and use the old 360 UI. Otherwise no.

Not afaik. But you can have party crosschat with Windows 10 PCs if you use the Xbox application there. I tested it a while ago and it works.
Mine did too. After trying everything (including a full format), I returned it with another one and it has worked completely fine.

Mine's audible as well. There are some people earlier in the thread that swapped consoles until they got a "silent" one so there must be some variation in them. I'm not sure it's a defect though, as it's too widespread. I think MS just uses noisy fans. I had two launch day XB1s and they had similar noisy fans too.
Is the noise your console is making a rhythmic "fwip-fwip", almost chirpy kind of noise? I was listening to my new S this weekend and it's almost like a cricket that's way, way off in the distance and barely audible. That's how all of mine have been. My OG unit got quieter over time, and I think my S is already getting better though it's still audible if the game gets really quiet or silent.

Does the HDMI input port on the S support 4k? I was thinking about ordering the Chromecast Ultra to use with it if it does.

Sweet lord. I came here to ask how I can remove the banners in the middle of the homepage UI so I can get access to the pins more quickly but this will do.
Still interested in removing the banners though. They are kinda pointless to me.
Also is there a way to get notified about game and system updates with a popup or automatically start downloading when I turn it on? I don't use the console on a regular basis so I turn it off completly (hence no standby auto updates) but I can't seem to find an option to set it up like I want it to behave.
I think it is a Netflix APP issue where it auto-turns on HDR. IT shouldn't do that and i think there is a fix coming soon, but idk the timeline. I just know i heard about this issue across the board.
Might have to only turn on your Deep Colour/Hdmi colo Subsampling, or whatever option to enable hdr, when viewing netflix for the mean time
(With my Vizio 55p-c1 i have to enable hdmi color sub-sampling on for that input so hdr10 can work when i play 4k blurays with my xbox one s, i turn it off otherwise)
So, this is going to be just like black crush.
