I know Novak's hurt, but his head just isn't in it either. Its been like this since he won the French really. Almost as if there is no hunger left in him any more after completing all 4 grand slam wins.

Alison Riske is executing her gameplan to perfection atm. The best way to beat Madison keys is jut to use her pace and get balls back until she hits the error. Riske is up a set and a break in the 2nd set atm

And of course Riske lost in the end :( Too bad, as she played great tennis up until the last point of the second-set tiebreaker. Completely fell apart in the third, though, while Keys hit winners from practically everywhere and cut down her errors at the same time.

You know, I could really get behind Keys if she could play that way all the time (especially against other top players), but the fact is, she can't. She's like Kvitova--looks great for stretches, but rarely can keep it going for more than a set at a time, let alone for multiple matches.

correct about everything
what's going on with nishikori? last time i checked he had won the first two sets 6-1, but now i come back to see he lost the third and is down a break in the fourth.

edit: on serve now in the fourth. but still, glass samurai strikes again i bet.

Wants to improve his deciding set record.

Is Adidas trying to create the ugliest kit ever or what? First the Zebra shits in Roland Garros and not this bright pink monstrosity lol

i'm sure i've asked this before, but i don't care enough to actually remember the answer: what happened to bouchard after 2014? going from two semis and a final to struggling to get out of the first two rounds.

Pressure, her debacle in Montreal against Shelby Rodgers...2015 started ok in Australia but she strained an abdominal at India Wells against Tsurenko and played injured with it for almost the rest of the year...then the US Open concussion in the locker room.

She is playing better this year but too many unforced errors still, like today where she will probably lose.

Donaldson playing well against Goffin so far. It would be nice to see one of the US rising teens come through on the mens side. Fritz and Tiafoe of course both lost in 5 sets

Thanks for the thread, nice recap of the chances of everyone.
Solid match from Stan. I really hope for a clash with Delpo later in the draw.

Bouchard with another first round exit. Those US Open locker room demons will haunt her in NYC forever.

american men continue to bring great shame to the union.

I dont care that old man scrubs like Kudla, Querry, and Ram lost. A win by Donaldson would more than make up for those losses. Donaldson and Fritz are the future of US tennis.

She just showed no emotion at all, barely a fist pump when she won the second set, something is bothering her still and she is not saying...

Not sure who to root for on the women side now, besides Serena for her 23rd Slam that is...maybe a dark horse like Garcia, but she has Radwanska in her way with her million dollar extra incentive lol.

Serious fight from young Ukrainian Kateryna Kozlova to force a deciding set after being blasted for a set and a half. Venus' expression after she hit a desperate forehand pass at 15-15 was a picture of disbelief.

Siniakova can defend the court really well on the stretch and has some skill at net (pretty rare among the young women players, to be honest). Bouchard needed to be steadier to see her off, but didn't match her intensity.

Wawrinka was solid against Verdasco. Good straight sets win to start off his campaign.

It's the first GAME and Kyrgios already got a warning for almost hitting a line judge with the ball. New record?

Edit: It was a code violation. He argued with the umpire and I think the crowd called Kyrgios a baby? And it's just 1:0 in the first set lol.

Go Struff go! It's Young, he'll lose it eventually.

Bummer. Struff didn't take his chances and Young had yet to Young his way out of the match.

Hahahahaha did anyone see what just happened during the ESPN main broadcast of Serena vs Makarova? It was about to go to commercial break and the camera was scanning the crowd outside the stadium and it focused on a girl buying a beer and just as she was about to grab it she noticed the camera and yanked her hand away and made a face. I guess she was underage or pregnant but either way she's going to jail* hahahaha!

* Jail part is a joke but it was seriously funny.

The US Open website could use more recent photos.

Fognini complaining about Gabashvili's grunts:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChfxdqiCsYc

He is saying in Italian:
"Not even Azarenka makes so much noise"
"Not even Azarenka yells this way"
"I wonder in the sack what you are like"
"Not even Azarenka yells like this"

He is right, I watched the match and he was like this basically the whole time.
Never heard a man tennis player being so constantly loud.
I think it was really too much and the umpire should have done something.

By the way the match was very entertaining, whit usual Fabio crazyness, and he went on to win on the fifth set, despite Gabashvili serving for the match on the third set and the fourth set.

Thanks for the translation. Classic Fabio.
Reminded me another good one.

Poor Lauren Davis. She was up 3-0 in the 3rd then let Svitolina win 6 straight games. She didn't shake the chair umpires hand after the match and was arguing something with her. Clearly she was rattled by something and it effected her play. She needs to work on that.

Watching Wozniacki vs. Kuznetsova... that's like tennis nostalgia. They both feel like from another generation.
