so they're limiting canadians to only episodes that have aired within a 13 week period, and locking them out of everything else including completed series, unless they pay for a sub?

hahahaha. wow. they could have just increased the price of a membership for cdns, but whatever i guess.

that would make some people cancel their subscriptions
its probably more like the amount of ad revenue they are getting from Canadians is not enough to justify allowing older episodes to be free

This will pretty much stop me from using CR. For new shows I just go to Daisuki which is free and I can watch in 1080p, as opposed to CRs crappy 480p for free users.

Why would it make people cancel their subscription? Premium subscribers are not affected. The older than 13 week shows being removed are for free users.

higher sub price would make some people cancel

Are they increasing the sub price? The changes doesn't seem to affect premium users.

Canadian Free User Changes

What are the changes?

Older titles will be available exclusively to Premium subscribers. Non-premium users, will still have access to all currently airing titles, so the newest anime can still be enjoyed for free. Each new episode of a currently airing title will be available for a full 13-week period, after which it will be available to Premium subscribers only.

Why are we making changes?

Over the past 5 years we have adding many library titles while simulcasting 50 shows every season. We’ve also expanded the free streaming service across mobile and living room devices, including Apple TV, PlayStation and Xbox consoles. We want to be be able to continue building the best collection of anime, even with the increasing cost of content and fluctuations in the Canadian exchange rates.

Who will the changes effect?

These changes only effect non-Premium members in the Canadian region. Premium members will see no changes.

When will the changes take effect?

I'd cancel immediately.
CR pricing is pretty decent, especially since it is in CAD and relatively low price.

Netflix on the other hand charges in USD, so my current $7.99/mo is over $11... Once the sub goes up to $9.99/mo this May... I'm out.
Edit: Oh, I see they added a single screen basic package that remains $7.99 with NO HD... wow

And they're tying to block proxy too.

Dumb question for ya'll

Based on recommendation I got the Netgear Nighthawk router. Will I have to purchase/tell Rogers to give me a new modem? My current one is a modem+router in one type of thing. I was hoping that maybe I could somehow override the router part with the Nighthawk because I really hate dealing with Rogers.

Google the model number of the modem/router to see how to put it into bridge mode

You should just be able to put the Rogers modem/router in bridge mode and then use your Netgear router for the Wi-Fi.

Wait, what? The pricing in Netflix is in USD? Damn, I thought it was on CAD. I guess I'll cancel it after my trial end.

Just torrent your anime like everyone else. Why bother using CR if you're only watching the free stuff anyway?

No thanks, I'd rather they cut out the freeloaders than punish the paying customers. Crunchyroll is priced extremely reasonably at like $5 CAD a month if you get the $12 month sub

normally yes, but they just changed the price to $70 intead of giving it a 30% off promo, so it doesn't adjust automatically

Yep, it worked! Amazon CS is great as usual. As long as you're reasonable I feel like they tend to help you out.

Zelda: Twilight Princess HD + Wolf Link amiibo - Wii U
Sold by: Amazon.com.ca, Inc.
CDN$ 55.99

Hmmm. So what was it originally listed at? $100? Then they gave you the 30% off for a subtotal of $70? So the price drop didn't affect your order because it was already lower correct?

I initially bought mine for $70. Then the 30% came off of that. Chances of me getting a further discount on it's own isn't likely. And since my original price was $70, I'm already lower then the lowest listed price.

I'll stick with what I got and not risk anything.

There is no point in keeping a netflix sub just for Canada. The selection is awful. You pretty much have to factor in the cost of whatever VPN you use to get the catalog from other countries.

Sweet mother of Joseph I price protected that xonc game down to 97 cents. What a great day!

Thank you person who posted that price!

You're wrong. Netflix Canada has the best selection of recent movies. They've been on a roll lately.

Plus we get most of the BBC dramas.

I use a proxy too but I find myself watching stuff on Netflix Canada more than ever before.

I don't use a screen protector but I highly recommend this case over the generic Chinese website ones:

http://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B00JH87ZSQ

It basically feels like a first party case. I love it. Super thin, looks good, stops lens from hitting the surface when placed down, and helps with grip.
Oh. I'm quite aware of this Spigen cases. This is what I planned to get at first but just went to a generic one at mall (big mistake for paying $10 for it lol). That's why I'm just tempted with the knockoff apple cases since it is cheap. Also, you don't use a screen protector, how's your phone? Any scratches?

Alright I spoke to Netflix, if I resub it'll be in Canadian.

They also refunded me this past month, so I'll take that as close enough to getting back what I've overspent.

Did they you why you were paying in USD?

Apparently because when I resubbed last time (which was April) it was from a US location (dunno if proxy, or if maybe I was visiting the US which is possible). So... odds are I've been paying USD since April 2014, but I can't prove anything beyond six months ago due to my CC statement only going back that far.

Get around it by having Amazon deliver everything to your nearest CP outlet?

I just started doing this, and it's been going well so far. There's a drop off location 2 blocks away from where I live luckily.

Fuck dealing with the delivery truck

I have a feeling that Far Cry game had zero stock to begin with and maybe one retailer here and there had a banged all the hell one sitting under a forklift in the back or something.

LOL $80 Vita Game
Probably a mistake but still by the time that game comes out it won't be :(

Agreed. They've been really good with recent releases. Anyone still complaining, isn't watching. Besides...Canada gets Star Wars before the States!

I have to say I never really understood why handheld versions of multiplats should cost less. Does anyone think they're cheaper to license? To manufacture? To develop?

It makes absolutely no sense that games like Odin Sphere and World of Final Fantasy are cheaper on the Vita. "Tradition" maybe but we pay the same for indie games on handhelds. Probably a good reason why no one wants to make handheld retail games anymore.
