anyone else have their PSVR pre-order cancelled by Amazon?

Just got an email off them

yup
We're contacting you about order #701. We recently discovered an error that caused the following item(s) to be displayed at an incorrect price:

PlayStation VR - PlayStation 4

In this case, we’re unable to offer this item for the incorrectly posted price(s). Therefore, we’ve cancelled your order for the item(s), and you haven’t been charged.

At any given time, despite our best efforts, a small number of the millions of items on our site may be mispriced. We're very sorry for any disappointment this may cause.

We hope to see you again soon.

Amazon gonna start fixing pricing errors now? I know the $1200 price is crazy but I thought it would be easier to just update the price whenever they get the correct amount and everyone's orders would auto correct.

Brehs.

$84.99 is only the beginning, I'm predicting we will see $94.99 before the end of the year

It could be that they are setting up preorders for the near future and it went live by accident, placeholder price and such.

I think that sometime in February or maybe during GDC will be the big information blowout for PS VR and at that point it will go live for real this time.

Still, boo that some can't take advantage of potential price errors.

I'm holding on to my E3 preorders like grim death.

Yeah, I'm at the point where games that I was considering cancelling I'm going to keep anyway, since if I'm interested a little later on they'll still be fairly higher in price.

So my book I ordered with the PS VR was left alone in the order but because it was under $25 they still felt the need to charge for shipping. Guess i'll be cancelling that order for now.

Man at these prices it's worth keeping the E3 games I don't really want and selling them on Craigslist. I could sell under a new MSRP and still make money.

Like I said in the other thread, it's most likely a bundle price.

$399 USD - PS4
$399 USD - PSVR

$798 USD

$798 USD = $1123 CAD

Amazon had it for $1125 CAD

I am calling it. PSVR is $399 USD.

Solid thinking there. Only other reason I could see them cancelling is if it were a stock issue.

Well not to scare you, but when I was a kid, FF3 was 129.99. Chrono Trigger was 134.99.

That's before you add in taxes.

The puddle of sorrow is deep.

Should've bought it day 1. I remember buying for $79 on release day.

What a day it was.

Back to deals...time to load up on Xbox live and PSN subs, still below $50 depending where you look...

$99 problems but the backlog ain't one. :(

Outside of a few things that I think are must-haves, I'll probably be hitting the backlog as well.

There was no way ff3 was $79 on release. You must've got it on sale. I distinctly remember paying over $100 for it at consumers. :p

Yeah, it's a minor miracle that those haven't jumped in price too. Should renew my PSN while I can.

The real crime was Shadowgate 64 being $99.99 when it released.

But yeah, if $84.99 is the new price, that's the end of (retail) game purchases apart from E3 preorders (games would be $67.23 in Ontario, even with that 30%...).

This still the place to bitch about gaming-related shipping?

UPS left a parcel on my deck today. Rock Band 4 cymbal pack. Which was in its original box and not in another box, or bag, or anything. This would normally be fine, except we are getting a wicked fucking storm here today. Basically had freezing rain and ice pellets all morning, then started getting buried in snow a couple of hours ago. Parcel was apparently left at 8:45 AM or so.

Got home, box is sitting in my deck, exposed (not against my door, behind a wall, or even tucked behind my garbage can or anything), and is soaked through (snow in the box, even). I have no way to test them right now to see if they even work.

Fortunately Amazon has got me covered (sending a replacement, no questions asked) but, what the shit, UPS.

Edit: Cracked the box open and took out the contents. Scooped out some snow that got in some of the other boxes inside, but everything might be fine - HMX has shit in (tape-sealed) plastic bags and it looks like nothing vital took water damage (just some of the how-tos and shit).

Hey so fun update on this.

I tried the original set out, and it didn't work, so I junked it.

Today I got an e-mail reminder from Amazon reminding me that I was supposed to return the damaged product and that I had a week to do so or I would be getting billed. At no point in my convo with the original CSR did they mention they wanted the damaged goods back or that they were just basically doing up an RMA for me rather than getting me to do it myself. They didn't mention this to me, none of the correspondence indicated there was a return, I saw nothing on my original order indicating that (but it's on there now), never got an e-mail until today, etc.

So now I'm chatting with a CSR who is basically saying "yeah, you have to send the broken one back, that's how RMAs work" when I'm saying "but that's not what I was told we were doing". I went back through my log and the CSR did say they could set me up with a "replacement order" free of charge, which I have since found out is actually codified as an exchange on their end. The CSR is checking with their supervisor so now I need to find out if I'm paying $140 for cymbals, $70 for nothing, or something in the middle. Fun times.

Edit: k, got a response after waiting for like 30m in a chat - waive the fee as a one time exception, no need to return, etc. At least I will know for next time (I hope there isn't a next time) that they just want me to do an RMA and that they're not writing it off...

I don't want to sound like a dick, but did you really think you wouldn't have to return the defective item (which you yourself even said probably isn't defective)?

Don't worry - you don't. :)

My conversation with Amazon took place before I took all the pieces out (when water was basically dripping out of the box and when I cracked it open and saw a bunch of snow inside, I immediately popped on to contact them to see how to proceed). Based on the conversation with the CSR, yes, I assumed they didn't want the defective item back. If they'd said "yeah, we'll set up a refund/exchange", no problem, but the fact that the CSR said they were shipping me a replacement at no charge and that they would be recouping the cost from the courier told me otherwise.

I've done a number of online purchases (Amazon or otherwise) over many years and it's not my first time reporting problems with a courier. I've had companies tell me they were sending me a replacement, and I've had companies ask me to do an exchange. Many times, when the cost of the item is not worth them getting it replaced, or when the fault has been with the courier and they're filing a claim with them, they've told me to keep or dispose of the broken product (which is usually when I saw the term 'replacement' or 'free' used). Yes, I made a mistake in assuming they didn't, but none of the correspondence mentioned it, my original order didn't have any RMA notation on it when I checked that night (after concluding my conversation with the CSR), the new order didn't mention it, and the replacement was created as a new order under my account with a $0 cost. I had no idea they were expecting it back until the e-mail landed in my inbox today. I mean, I told the CSR what happened, and their response was "would you like me to create a replacement order for you free of charge?", which I didn't think was "would you like to set up an exchange".

As I told the CSR, at least I know going forward. I did tell them I still had the replacement order, unopened (hadn't had time to use it), and could ship that back, as I would rather not be out $140 and have cymbals that I haven't really used (I still have my RB3 ones, in a pinch), so I was willing to eat the loss. I just wasn't happy about it.
