The L.A. Daily News posted a piece on DC's move to Burbank - and DC Entertainment in general - with comments from Dan Didio and Jim Lee. Most notably, they talk about the Bleeding Cool DC You rumors:

Not all of the experiments succeed, of course, but the co-publishers said, despite rumors to the contrary, the company’s not backing down from the “DC You” approach.

“If you’re trying to build a fan base, a new audience, you’ve got to nurture it. You’ve got to take your time. You’ve got to take your losses,” DiDio said. “Sooner or later, it’s going to take hold and hopefully be a leader in the business. Right now, our goal is to try and feed out as much product that’s as different as possible to try and attract the widest audience possible.”

The company will start “adjusting a little bit, and start to focus,” he said, looking at what’s working with the new “DC You” initiative and what has not.

“We had some hits, we have some things that are under-performing,” Lee said. “What we (did) in June is definitely step one towards this sort of transformation of the (comics) line. And I think that story is still being written.”

Like, seriously
You introduce a freaking mummified tetraplegic old lady as a character and in the span of 8 ishs i already wanna hug her. Arcunolla plz. Standards being set too freaking high.

That new 1st issue of Bloodstrike contains everything bad good about comics.

Indeed.

Howard is Relaunching in October with the post Secret Wars books. Plus a new hat.

Yeah, I know. I just wish I had a DC series that I thought was worth reading to fill in the time. All of my other normal reads are taking ages to get new issues out, so at least my wallet gets a break.

So I finished the Humdinger and Bubs' Shop hardcovers, along with the Humdinger Tours TPB at the end. It was all pretty great. I think I have to agree with Lunchpod in saying Humdinger was my favourite. Pity the second hardcover is delayed and the current bundle doesn't include past the third TPB for it. But I can go forward with XO Mango Ward and Zune It Tea into Armbar Haunters.

I still need to catch up on Howard because the one story I read was hilarious.

He didn't even try to deny the money issues at all which was the biggest part of the BC rumor and depending on the adjustments being made BC could still be right.

I... almost understood some of that.

Glad you're enjoying it. :D

Harbinger just gets better and better. Hopefully the second OHC isn't out too late.

Thor #356 - #360: There are so many things to love about this series. The way Simonson can move seamlessly between the telling of the epic feats of the Gods to humour

to writing an issue that reads like a Spanish soap opera.

And now Thor rides into Hel. With M-16s.
I guess Willingham wasn't the first to use this idea.

I also love how he uses the positioning of speech bubbles to completely change the flow of reading a page without it affecting the readability one bit.

Sin City "To Hell and Back" is a really great story so far.
Big Damn Sin City is SUCH good value.

This is an amazing and terrifying level of commitment.
What is Bubs' Shop supposed to be?

"BC could still be right."

And Kipp is all about value. Even with that FroYo manager money.

I did buy a Martian Manhunter New Frontier figure for $12.99 with my FroYo tip money today! I needed to go back to a different store since my trip yesterday was mostly unsuccessful.

But really, even disregarding the value, Sin City is good stuff. Definitely doesn't have much depth to it or anything, but it's some solid noir storytelling with great Miller art.

Received my Hellblazer Vol 4 from Amazon today. Of course it arrived with a bent corner. Chatted with Amazon customer service and they're sending me a new one and letting me keep the old one. Such an incredibly nice customer service representative.

I also told the person about how this is a consistent issue and she said she would inform the Warehouse about the issue. Doubtful it'll make a difference, but oh well. If enough people complain or ask for refunds/returns/credit, maybe they'll ship books better eventually.

Edit: DAMN! The order confirmation for the new book says it'll come TOMORROW! It's already 5pm! Talk about MEGA FAST SHIPMENT. Amazon has top-tier customer service.

Also, does anyone want a Volume 4 of Hellblazer with a slightly bent corner by the way? Just toss a few bucks my way for shipping and we'll call it good.

DCBS!

These are basically the same book aren't they?

Can't believe how fast these Sunstone books are coming out.

should have waited for the OHC

They are coming out quickly as he has already done most of the legwork on deviant art. The next volume will be the last quick one.

I'll be stunned if we ever get an OHC and if we do you are talking years down the line. He is constantly struggling to promote and get big sales for his books.

Manhattan Projects Sun Beyond the Stars #2: I thought about switching over to trades every page of the book, i need to reread #1 because all i remember is
the dog getting humanoided and the judge a little bit
Good stuff but the schedule kills it. Random 8/10 for quality despite that.

Wait, when did the second issue come out? I completely missed that. Just picked it up off Comixology, but like you I'm going to have to read the first issue again because I barely remember what happened.

Finished Justice League Origins (New 52) last night. Pretty good. Nothing incredible but I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Also started Volume One of Nightwing (New 52) and I really like it. My first real foray into the character.

So I finally got caught up on Supergirl today, and I'm really fucking confused.

At the very end of Issue 40, the last panel shows that for some reason she's human now... and then the comic ends. Like it never explains this or anything, and as far as I can tell the line also ended. But then in convergence, she's floating in space alongside Kal El again...?

Like did the creative team plan more for her but then the line was cancelled without them being able to finish it or what? Or was the turning into human thing supposed to signify the end of Supergirl altogether and the Convergence team not know that was happening?

I mean, Superboy was confusing as all hell and a mess narritive wise but at least it bothered to explain how Kon came back.

Also, having read Teen Titans finally, it's refreshing to read something that manages to top itself over and over with insane shit happening while still being fun. Superman, Action Comics, Detective Comics, and to a very small extent Batman all kind of fall flat in that regard.

Until Dawn still seems like a lot of walking for not a lot of input and i'm responding how i would ideally instead of how the characters would. I'm going to change you Mike, you will be a better person.

Nu52 is actually pretty bad compared to the pre-52 stuff...if you are able to I highly recommend you read the old stuff, reading all of it would be best but if 150 issues is too much then issues 50-117 is where it's at.

The Convergence books don't tie into the regular books. They are versions of the characters from different worlds. That's not the same Kara.
