Five Nights at Freddy's 4 arrives next month

That's possible, but I don't think it would make sense in this scenario. I guess if we're having a nightmare or dealing with paranormal stuff in general, I guess it's possible then. :p

I've always wanted there to be a FNAF game that takes place in Fredbear's Family Diner, or the first Freddy Fazbear's Pizza (the one where the murders of the first five children happen). It doesn't look like that's really happening, so I'm hoping that what you said is true. I just hope we finally get to learn what in the hell happened in those first two locations.

I think we'll still get another game. After all, he didn't use the "Final Chapter" subtitle in the trailer ;)

Yeah, I noticed that as well.

And I kinda hope you're right. More FNAF games is fine by me! But he did use the "Final Chapter" subtitle in the teasers and in the IndieDB page of the game, so I'm not sure. I just hope he doesn't make too many of them. It would oversaturate the series, and I think the quality of the games would suffer if that was the case.

I think he's done a fine job of not over complicating the story line so far, so I wouldn't say no to more games. This could just be the Final Chapter to this story, and we'll get a whole new mystery altogether. I think he'd definitely back off for a bit if he feels like he can't evolve it any further after this, he's more than earned a rest as it is, releasing 4 games in a year!

I'm just wondering if Scott will be upping the ante on how things will play out if you're caught. Especially with these "monsters" looking a bit more violent than usual.

While the story is very interesting and intriguing, I feel that the quality of the games themselves have gone down a bit with each release. I'd say the last two games haven't been really as good gameplay-wise as the first one.

FNAF 2 just had too much stuff going on. There was the music box you had to worry about, and you had more than 10 animatronics to deal with! It was just too convoluted. FNAF 3 just felt empty. There was only one real animatronic, and the rest were just phantoms.

I just hope FNAF 4 will find the right balance in terms of gameplay just like the first game had. Although I'm not too worried since the game looks to be possibly the best game in the series yet. :p

You play as a kid too, so if there's a Game Over screen like the first two.. It's gonna be dark as hell.

Just realized the Mask's avatar reminds me of the Puppets......

Im afraid to see how freddy looks in motion this time around......that teaser image was 2spooky4me.

Cant believe this might actually be my first FNAF game(playing instead of watching that is). Feels like a death wish.

Hehe, that's intentional. I couldn't use my original Splatterhouse 3 avatar for my YouTube channel, so I made my own mix of Splatterhouse and the Puppet's mask.

I just figured something out. The viewpoint in the plush Springtrap hallway is low because you're looking through a vent that's in your room. The high window would make sense if it's an old house with a big attic.

I think you picked the wrong time to play FNAF for the first time. Looks like FNAF 4 will be the scariest yet! I feel sorry for you. :p

I've got all three games free from Amazon, but even after reading some faqs I have no bloody idea how to actually play these in practice. I just click stuff until the lights go out, a jumpscare occurs, and I pee myself.

I've always wished I could play these games, but jumpscares actually really terrify me, especially when there's a tension build around them.

I don't own any of these games, but I'm obsessed with the series.

It's not the jumpscares that mess with me, it's the tension and atmosphere. Even just WATCHING people play them scares the shit out of me. It's like I'm really being stalked.

The trailer had me looking over my shoulders a few times. I should buy them just to support Scott even if I don't play them.

I'm super nervous all the time and hate loud noises but I can still play these, but this one looks like it's going to be a difficult one, thanks to the fact that it's in a house, like mine. At least the restaurants were so different to anything in real life that it didn't mess with you subtly like this one probably will! I'm obligated to stream this one on release now, thanks to a few friends holding me to it..

I've never thought about that before actually. This game does seem like it will "hit" more closer to home than the other ones since it's in a house. This will be like one of those games that will make it hard to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom or something. :p

This one is definitely going for a pure horror vibe. The trailer plays on all the fears a child would have, monster in the closet, something trying to open your door in the night, that pure terror of seeing your door handle start rattling in the middle of the night... I'm fully expecting one of the animatronics to be hiding under the bed!

Yeah, this game will definitely be more horrifying than ever before. Just compare this trailer to the trailers of the first three games. This feels like a trailer for a horror movie in comparison! :p

And yeah, I bet there's something under the bed too. Maybe Freddy and that's why we haven't seen him yet? Oh man, I can only imagine how that would be like. :p

Honestly, I'm far more excited to see the Markiplier play through than anything else.

Fixed for me :P

This is the reason I think we are seeing these so quick. Some games are being made with youtubers and live streamers in mind. But that's a far bigger subject matter that I would love to see more discussion about at some point.

I do think this would have have been more palatable had it been titled as episodic, but then again the dev likely had no initial plan to make this many.

Yeah, I think I'll have nightmares if we have to look under the bed as well! It's worth noting that we also haven't seen Fredbear/Purple Freddy and due to the constant 1987 references, there's a pretty good chance of maybe seeing Mangle too. Also, there WAS hidden references to 1982 on the website, as well as the 1987 references, so maybe that will be around the time of the sister location? Might be a chance of seeing both the Shadow animatronics too.

People claim to have seen Mangle's face in one of the teaser images for the game, but they're not sure if it's really him.

And yeah, there's a lot of 1987 references in there, probably referring to the infamous bite of '87. I think the 1982 references could be talking about the pizzeria that came before the FNAF 2 restaurant. It did have a sister location as well apparently, so you might be right. :p

'Final Chapter' subtitles were used in various 80s horror franchises that were not really the last ones, as money dictated more sequels following.
Maybe Scott is playing off of that? :p

Agreed, I feel this trailer was trying to sell the atmosphere more than the others, with those Westminster chimes in the background. Was a good effect, and a haunting homage to the series in general.

Plus, I feel this game is harkening back to the first in a way with its format, despite being able to move a bit more. Bonnie trailing down the left hall, Chica on the right, Foxy on his perch (the closet) that you may have to check frequently to keep him at bay, and Freddy being the one to truly watch out for in the final days (maybe the minis are his watchdogs, idk). Thus showing us again why HIS name's in the title despite not being at the pizzeria this time. =P

Of course, that's not taking into account, Plushtrap, who may be a Puppet kind of thing from the sequel. I assume Fredbear will be the wildcard, like Golden Freddy.

Either way, this is looking to be the most interesting, and creepiest entry thus far.

Yeah, this looks like it might be the best and scariest FNAF game yet. Part of the reason why I say that is because it seems like Scott has found the right balance in terms of gameplay in this game.

I think FNAF 2 and 3 weren't as good as the first game in terms of gameplay. FNAF 2 had way too many animatronics for its own good that you had to worry about. Trying to keep the music box wound up was a bit stressful, especially in the later nights.

I was a bit underwhelmed with FNAF 3 when it came out. The game just felt so empty compared to the others because there was only one real animatronic and the rest were phantoms who didn't even kill you. Plus, there was no Custom Night mode, which I found disappointing. I know there's the Aggressive Nightmare mode in the cheats, but that's not exactly the same thing. :p

Also, I felt that the last two games weren't as scary as the first one was. FNAF 4 seems to be fixing that problem as well, as it looks more horrifying than ever. :p

I've noticed something in the trailer. During the part where you can see Chica in the hallway, you can actually see her reflection in the windows if you look carefully. Could this mean these animatronics are actually real and not just nightmares?

This raises another question: If these animatronics are real, then what are they doing in your house? :/

If they are real, there could only be a certain number of time periods this takes place in.

If the animatronics are real, this could be between Fredbear's Diner and the first Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, or these are the pre-upgrade animatronics from the Second Location. But, if they're just nightmares/hallucinations/ghosts, then it could be at any time.

Yeah, I was thinking if these are real and you're playing as the Purple Guy's son, then maybe he built these animatronics and stored them somewhere in his house. And when he's not at home, they haunt his son in the middle of the night.

Because think about it. If these are real, then it looks like someone built them to look as horrifying as they look. These particular animatronics were obviously not built to entertain children. They look like they're freaking killing machines or something. :/

Somebody did say that
maybe these belong to the Phone Dude? The guy who built Fazbear's Fright. Maybe he's trying to reopen it again, but decided to make his own animatronics instead.

I was thinking, maybe Purple Guy didn't even kill any victims past the first one. Maybe he's been making his own animatronics and tampering with the others and making them kill for him.

I think the theory that the Phone Dude built these animatronics sounds implausible. The Phone Dude wasn't really an important character anyway, and remember that this game takes place in a house, and not another horror attraction type place.

I was actually thinking about the other theory. You could be right. Maybe the Purple Guy didn't kill any children directly, but rather he made the animatronics kill them. Except the first victim, of course.

Could just be where he's storing them until he sets it all up. After all, he's stupid enough to install a killer robot with a murderer's still-living corpse inside into a fright attraction.

If it was Purple Guy building them, surely he wouldn't be stupid enough to stand outside the Pirate Cove in the FNAF2 mini-game? Maybe purple skin is just how Scott draws any security guards in the mini-games. That could have been Phone Guy on his first day at the FNAF1 location, visiting the animatronic he liked so much. He does sound pretty nervous in the first call in FNAF1, maybe he just discovered that his favorite is a killing machine? Maybe he doesn't even know that they kill guards until FNAF1?

Some people have the theory that this could be a sequel to FNAF 3 because we know that some toys and other items that survived the fire were sold at a public auction. So maybe a child got these plushies at some auction and that's why these animatronics are haunting him at night? That's a possibility.

Game Theory actually had an interesting theory about the Foxy mini-game in FNAF 2. He thinks that maybe the FNAF 1 location and the first Freddy Fazbear's Pizza could actually be the same location. Which means that Foxy mini-game could've been a flashback to the first pizzeria rather than a flash forward to FNAF 1. That's also something interesting to think about.

If the Phone Guy isn't the killer, and I still don't think he is because it's too obvious, and Scott likes to get complex with his story, he could have been quite young when Fredbear's Diner was first open. If he first started liking Foxy there, it makes sense that he would still like him when he was working there. If the mini-game scene is in the first Fazbear restaurant, that would make sense if it was just the Phone Guy there for his first day. If I remember correctly, he wasn't on the night shift at first, so he wouldn't have known about the animatronics trying to kill guards.

If there's more of a gap between Fredbear's and the first Fazbear's than we think, maybe these are the unseen originals from the Diner? Maybe Phone Guy took his son to see the new and improved version of his favorite restaurant, the kid swipes something, and accidentally brings them to his house. Or his dad finds an old Golden Bonnie plush and brings it home for his kid or just for nostalgic reasons. We still don't know how long it was between Fredbear's opening and closing, could be far earlier than we thought.

I've always thought that maybe Fredbear's Diner was opened somewhere in the early 70s because Phone Guy states in FNAF 1 that the animatronics have been "singing songs" for twenty years. And we know that FNAF 1 takes place somewhere in the early 90s (most people speculate it to be 1993). And I've always thought that the first Fazbear restaurant was maybe opened somewhere in the mid-late 70s or early 80s and maybe closed down in the early-mid 80s. In FNAF 2 the Phone Guy states that the first Fazbear restaurant was "left to rot for quite awhile" so I assume he means it's been closed for several years at that point?

And I don't think that the four animatronics (Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy) existed in Fredbear's Diner yet. We know that the diner only had one animatronic (Fredbear) based on the minigame in FNAF 2. So I guess Fredbear is sort of like the "godfather" of all the other animatronics. He came before anyone else. :p

"In this last chapter of the Five Nights at Freddy's original story, you must once again defend yourself against Freddy Fazbear, Chica, Bonnie, Foxy, and even worse things that lurk in the shadows. Playing as a child whose role is yet unknown, you must safeguard yourself until 6am by watching the doors, as well as warding off unwanted creatures that may venture into your closet or onto the bed behind you.

You have only a flashlight to protect yourself. It will scare away things that may be creeping at the far end of the hallways, but be careful, and listen. If something has crept too close, then shining lights in its eyes will be your end."

I can take Scott's word for it that this is the final chapter. He doesn't seem to be the kind of guy who would go against it. Either way, this has been one hell of a series whether you like it, or not. Also yep. You are confirmed to be playing as a child. Holy hell the lore for this series has been all kinds of interesting, and I can't wait to see how this one goes.

Interesting. So that's the official description for the game then?

The screenshots there are mostly stuff we saw in the trailer, but this one is interesting. I'm guessing the stuffed Freddy on the bed is always there, but then I'm guessing sometimes the chattering Freddy things show up there in front of it.

I honestly don't blame Scott for milking the franchise, especially since there was still some questions left unanswered in FNAF3.

He is clearly doing something right, even my small nephew came to me talking about this game, like "Uncle do you like scary games? Oh you do? Heard about FNAF?"
Totally anecdotal, but even then!

Interesting how this is the only new image we have of the game. The rest are just stuff we saw in the trailer.

I guess Scott doesn't want us to see how the rest of the game will be like and wants it to be a surprise. :p

"The Five Nights at Freddy's original story?" I guess Scott's leaving room for a reboot after this game. I mean, with a possible movie coming, I doubt this franchise is going away anytime soon.

We've seen this shot already in the trailer.

Notice the Fazbear plush is still present behind the Nightmare Mini-Freddie.

This was something that did pop in my mind when I thought more about it. Spinoff, or something maybe?

I know that we saw this in the trailer, but this is the first time we're seeing the Freddy plushie by itself on the bed. So this is sorta new, in a way. :p

Looks like some people have found the numbers 8 and 3 in the source code of the teaser image on Scott's website. Apparently, he just added it in.

There's a theory going around that this could mean the game will take place in 1983.
This means that it will take place before FNAF 2.

Looks like we'll be finding out what happened in the beginning. Can't wait for this game!

So do you move around the game in 3D, or is it point and click like Myst? Or do we not even know that?
Honestly this looks really interesting to me, I like how it's a huge change of pace.
