Not anytime soon I guess, they have to fix the online part of the game and, after that, they should be absolutely sure the amount of PS+ free edition player will not kill the servers again. They can't fail once more so I guess the PS+ edition will only be available once everything is sorted out, tested out and safe. That could take some time and I wonder if they shouldn't bite the bullet and scrap the free edition if there's a risk to hurt the players who paid for the game...

Thanks for the reply. Too bad about all the server issues being the overall topic as opposed to the game itself. Hopefully they can get it all sorted out and avoid the whole thing happening again when the PS+ version rolls out.

Then it's going to go to another level once we start racing in the rain/snow at night....whew.

Actually completely forgot about the weather patch since the game launched. Man, it's going to be so amazing once it drops. Never thought I'd pay for the season pass since the new tracks are free but now I can't wait to do all those new events. Definitely want to support Evo as much as possible for this product.

Driving the BAC MONO with the t500 from the in-car, or should I say in-helmet view is almost gaming heaven. An F1 game with these graphics would be amazing.

I went into this not expecting much, but god damn. The graphics and core mechanics make this so damn gooooooooooood. It's a shame about the online being a mess cos I think that's put quite a lot of people off it, but it really is worth picking up.

Sure, they fucked up, but all they're really saying by that is that they didn't intentionally release a game with broken online, they thought it would work.

Doesn't make it less of a fuck-up, but in my eyes there's a difference between releasing a game you know won't work until you fix it and releasing a game that ends up not working because you screwed up with the testing methodology.
Sure, I agree Evo never intended to release the game in that state. They are not guilty of having critical bugs, they are guilty of not having made what's necessary to detect them. Their test couldn't see it coming, an open beta would have made the problem obvious. Sure that would also have produce some bad buzz around the game but, at least, they would have time to fix everything before launch.

I'm not calling for anyone's head, I just hope this unfortunate experience will make everyone at Evo and even at Sony better. Some serious lessons have to be learnt from that mess.

gave in to temptation, bought the game.

its so fucking good o__o

the only, only thing i have a negative view about, is that a driving/racing game in 2014 should not be releasing without local mutliplayer available :(

I just spent almost an hour fucking with my club badge/paint scheme....

....and I only have the default creation tools.

I think I'm gonna have a problem when this online shit gets sorted out.

The Bac is a blast to drive.
Much, much easier to tame than that Atom. Jesus. You get the feeling the Mono actually *wants* you to survive bends at high speed, which is nice in comparison to its evil brother.

Its good to see that each car really does have it owns character and strengths and weaknesses though. First impressions of the handling might make it seem so arcady that differences might get lost, but that'd be anything but the truth.

On that note, I'm spending quality time with the Pagani to break it in and its finally starting to purr.

I played a few multiplayer matches last night using the BAC MONO for the first time. Having the helmet view with all that screen real estates is glorious. Absolute blast! The servers are slowly coming alive lol.

Couldn't get online all of yesterday so I made my custom paint jobs then went back to Destiny. Really wish the servers would work so I could at least try one online race.

Try closing Driveclub, then re-opening and see if you connect. Sometimes for me the multiplayer stuff on the Home screen is greyed out and even when I press onto "Drive" the Multiplayer is also greyed out but it randomly becomes visible and connects if you stay on that screen for a little longer. Worth a shot I guess.

Or play at a ridiculous time of day. I woke up at 3am a few days ago and I had a near flawless 5 multiplayer matches for the first time (I'm guessing the regional servers weren't getting hammered when everyone's supposed to be asleep!)

For me the connection always is up after playing a few races.

It's never up straight away after booting up the game.

Considering they have had a week since the US launch and considering that DC emphasises the online asynchronous competitive aspect the problems they are having with the servers fast becoming unacceptable. This is really going to hurt the long term community of the game which is a disaster for this kind of experience.

That would be a great shame because the core aspects of the game are there and even when using the challenge thread to look at peoples times and try to compete there the just one more lap/go bug strikes hard. They have a fantastic engine here and the car handling is pretty damn good and varied between the various classes and cars within each class.

I just hope they can get the servers in fully working order ASAP and start getting people really invested in that competitive aspect as once they do I can see a lot of people being drawn in but the longer these issues persist the more that door closes.

Thanks for the advice, I've tried closing Driveclub and reopening it with no luck. I'd never thought of playing at a random time of the day. I'll give this a shot at the weekend when I'm not working.

No worries. Also a guy posted above about playing a few matches and then going back to the menu and see if you have connected is another good one. I'm guessing the one in one out policy takes place there when you might be in a sort of queue. It sucks that the servers are like this but when it works, it's works really well. For me at least.

Last night after getting connected I could race online without problems.

The only thing that does not work yet for me is that I'm nowhere to be seen in the leaderboards, none of my friends either.

Had an awesome race today in the career. 3 lap race that started in darkness and I was struggling to follow the track and spent the best part of the first 2 laps around 7th place. By the last lap the sun had come up enough that I could now see clearly and powered my way to 2nd place.

So good.

If reviewers said the car sticks to the road, why the fuck do I keep losing grip going through the S curve along the straight on the Norway race track?

Lot of the reviews are full of inconsistent or outright inaccurate information, such as the complaints of being unable to customize the cars paint for example or the game having 2D / Cardboard Trees.

Pay them no mind.

I'm liking the game but honestly the whole server issue has left a bad taste in the mouth. I feel like I've paid for an unfinished product. It's really not good enough!!!

Hasn't this always been a rendering issue? I think we're see this feature slowly evaporate in AAA titles as they become more ambitious.

Those color statements are ridiculous, I want names, how could they miss/misunderstand such a simple thing like that?

From Giant Bomb :

There are no tuning or upgrade options and, aside from a loosely customizable "club" paint job set by the leader of your current car club, even the paint options are extremely limited. Even the "factory" paint job option only offers one color.

Exactly my feelings when I first drove that car. I also want private lobbies and 30 lap races with GAF using the BAC Mono. Fix this shit GG.

Holy shit. I just did my first Hyper race. That shit is INSANE!

The Venom...oh the Venom...

Makes me wonder if people were playing The Crew beta when they said you could easily brake and turn at the same time in this game...

For me the connection always is up after playing a few races.

It's never up straight away after booting up the game.

It happened to me yesterday. Connected from the start and was greeted with a "Update" alert on screen. At first I thought it was a server info but it was a "Since the last time you were online, your club has done this" kind of message.

Logged on early this morning and was connected online and had access to my Club.

Did the Scotland Open Tour. Just before I cross the finish line and get the points for my Club, I get disconnected.

Turn the console off in frustration. Turn it back and I'm back online with Club access again.

Losing connectivity isn't my problem, it's the fact the connection decides to just drop denying me points for my Club when it's evidently a hiccup because I got back online immediately afterwards.

This shit is fucking dumb.

if you've already joined your club it should add points to it from when you were offline.

For you.
Not for everyone.
there is a group, I don't know what percentage, that have a different experience. Persistent no connection at any time of day, after any duration of waiting, in menu, or in race. Or rather I should say it connects for a second, then immediately drops.

So no there isn't a server queue, something else is going on and has been for days.

It's just a long ass way to get to a colour option, I agree that there should be an option under choosing factory for a colour swap.
This. And if possible, limited to colours that are actually from the car maker's catalogue, leaving the whole palette and paint finishes to the customisation options.

Ah so my 10 levels before joining my club don't count, but anything I earn now even when disconnected will level up the club once I connect?

Also something I noticed the other day, remote play on the Vita has a small border around the screen, anyone know why?
