A lot of people in this thread actually got the game already. Probably won't see them for a couple days.

I guess that makes sense, if you're a huge fan you'll find a way to get it early even if that means importing a Japanese 3DS just for one game (My friend actually did that, haha)

Heh, a bunch of people in this thread did too. A few years ago, I would have done the same. I'm more cynical now though, so it seemed best not to overdo it.

Caving is complete. Will have a 3DS grip tomorrow thanks to my free Amazon Prime trial and I'll probably grab the game tonight just because I can.

Off topic question, but can you order something with release day shipping with the Prime trial even if it comes out after the trial expired?

After Brawl and FFXIII, I will never do anything like that. The potential for disappointment is always there.

Brawl was actually the first time I went to a midnight release, too.

So I've decided that I want to get the game digital, but I want to upgrade my SD card since Smash would take up most of the space (if not all of it if the 2.1gig size turns out to be true, either at launch or eventually with DLC) and I'll want to also get ORAS digitally when it comes out. But if I go and buy a new SD card, how do I transfer my existing data onto the new card? Are my save games on the SD card, or is it just my eshop downloads which I could just re-download?

My copy didn't arrive today. D:

Oh well, I started playing Super Metroid recently and it's really good. I'll just play that all day instead!

So multiplayer uses the 3DS Friendlist for games with friends, Does that mean it's still friend code based and not NNID?

Nintendo everything said there is I think it goes live when the shop updates

According to the press release, it would be available after 0900. Being that it is now after that time, I checked and didn't see it, but I neglected to recall that nintendo operates on Pacific Time. I guess it'll be just under another hour and a half!

Man, this threads moving awfully slow considering that a new installment of super smash bros is releasing for most of the western world in less than 24 hours.

It's moving decently fast. In relation to the PoTD thread when some leak happens, no. But you have to realize right now either a) people have the game and are already playing or b) people are waiting to get the game and really don't have anything to talk about till they do.

Once we get our hands on the game this thread is going to be pretty active, many (including myself) are going to want to exchange friend codes and set up matches with each other. That, and there will be basically round 2 of Smash Bros mechanic/technique/easteregg/fanservice/bug/glitch discovery. Surely, there's more stuff to find.

2 and a half hours. You can't beat that.

You weren't feeling the demo characters, eh?

midnight release here in Mexico.

I pretty much jumped on the hype train two weeks ago, forgive me. lol And that's dumb. Oh well, I guess my friend and I will have to make some new friends to play with.
Yeah it's really stupid, I was so annoyed when I found out, I'm just hoping the Wii U version has it in.

Asking for a co-worker:

He wants to digitally download it.

What time can he expect to be able to start downloading? Is it midnight in our time zone (EST) ??

Smash Bros was closer to 1.2 GB than 2.1GB. Pokemon is 99% going to be 1.7 GB though (XY were about that) so a new SD card is a good idea.
Saves are on the SD card with the game data. There is a save backup tool that can be used for most games if you want to use the eShop download*

As for changing SD card. Copy files from one SD to and paste to another using a PC. It's easy, Nintendo even have a guide:
https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Support/...ransferring-data-between-SD-Cards-826530.html
There is a similar one up on the NOA website...

*-Games like Pokemon and Animal Crossing are exceptions. In fact they have booby trapped saves in the sense that you have to load the last save you made.

Forgive my question, but does is EST the official eShop update timezone for NA? Or since I'm in CST, 12am CST is my release time?
Yep, I'm pretty sure it's 12 AM EST no matter where in North America you are. If I'm wrong on that, I'm sure someone will correct me.

Make sure you guys download the day 0 patch at 12pm EDT before servers get bogged down tonight.

That's awesome that nintendo did this so we can start playing right away.

Well everyone it's been a pleasure riding the hype train with you all. I'm off for a weekend Smashfest with the homies that will result in us playing every Smash before obtaining 3DS tomorrow morning and playing the hell out of it for the next couple of days.

See you on the other side.

Is there a reliable character unlock guide out there somewhere? I'm seeing some but they seem to be missing some methods I've also seen floating around GAF.

midnight downloading: is it slow as molasses in winter?

also, ill quote this question again cause id love to know... not like i wont find out myself in about 12 hours!... but still,

heres a question for people that have played the game or have watched enough to get a sense of the answer, haha:

How does Samus compare to her Melee / Brawl counterparts?

Because Melee Samus was great and Brawl Samus was not so great. Kinda bad, actually.

Have fun dude! Captain falcon looks fun!

Good to know, thanks.
