I guess that is one way to discourage low lvl players from playing half the a game. thanks bungie.

Damage is equal in the crucible. Higher levels will just get the little bonuses their weapons have over lower level ones. But you can still kill just as fast as they can. I've been in many lobbies where lower levels get the highest scores.

So honest question guys

Is it actually worth farming treasure cave? I've been debating it but I'm not sure if its actually worth the time or not.

yes, if nothing else it will raise your cryptarch level just from the blues alone, I got 5 blues in about 25 mins doing pcps moon spot last night.

29 I believe, just short of 30 until you get the raid gear which is legendary but with slightly higher def and light.

I have some titan legs from the vault and the def difference is about 35, light difference is I think 2 or 3 total.

I got some gauntlets from the raid but their special effects seem to really only be for the raid specifically so I'm not sure I'd want to use them outside of the raid. Are they what is considered "raid gear"?

I got a purple engram that turned into an Exotic chestpiece after 20 minutes. Your mileage may vary given the shitty/amazing RNG.

It's a dumb assed way to "enjoy" a game IMO but to each their own.

I don't "enjoy" getting AFK people in Vanguard Tiger three times in a row.

Related, the vendors in the Tower are a missed opportunity. There are potentially a lot of different characters to sketch out there, but they are stripped down to serve their basic function and no more; they're dispensers of stuff, not vendors. There are no strong personalities, they don't comment on the story as it progresses, they don't have histories or offer missions of their own. They just stand in one spot and dispense gear or bounties. (Some of my favorite characters in Skyrim were vendors; the general store dude in Whiterun was hilarious.) Another window for story telling, stripped down and not utilized.

I was going to mention Skyrim in response to this, but you've got it under control ;)

Even the chatter from just standing by the vendors or even the nameless NPCs is boring and doesn't add anything interesting. I thought the tower would be a great place to hear about current events, from both players and NPCs, but basically it's just a place to turn in your bounties, and buy stuff. :(

It will be interesting to see what Bungie's philosophy is regarding common farming locations and techniques. Any time something like the Treasure Cave has been discovered in Diablo III, for instance, it seems like Blizzard nerfs it less than a day later.

I guess Bungie doesn't mind people having their fun for now.

If you listen to the majority, it's less efficient than farming marks and rep. If that's true, then it's not so lucrative that it needs to be patched.

It does illustrate a design problem though, which is that level 1 mobs can drop the best gear in the game. Everything I've seen suggests that they've done this so as not to fragment the playerbase into high levels and low level players, and give high level people the incentive to play with lower level people. For example, the fact that a swarm of level 1 enemies can still kill a level 25+ player if they're not careful is further evidence of this. They want high and low level people to be able to play together.

I'm not sure if they achieved the right balance, but having worked on a major AAA game, I can definitely say for sure that they've thought about this. And if you find yourself saying "Why don't they just do X, it solves everything", then you are almost definitely wrong. I hope they continue thinking about this problem though, because obviously a robust loot system is the core of any loot game.

I bet you're trying to pick the middle defense upgrade aren't you... ;) You have to pick the far left one first, and work your way down.

If this is the case, I'm an idiot, hahaha. I have upgraded all of my other gear, so I don't know why I would miss this one, but I'll check.

I had a scout rifle that did that. When I switched weapons and did not have it equipped it let me do the upgrade.

Yeah, a buddy of mine (who is level 20) asked "how do I upgrade blue gear?"

I thought he was insane, but after he explained that he couldn't pick any of the upgrades and he had this gear for a WHILE now, I thought maybe it was bugged like mine.

Sort of one of the reasons I picked Pocket Infinity as my exotic bounty. It’s a fully automatic fusion rifle. I need to see how OP it is in Crucible. Just one more rare fusion rifle to dismantle and it’s a cakewalk from there.

200 Nightfall kills with fusion rifles say otherwise, that part was a lot more annoying than the 10 fusion rifle dismantles.

Hey now, no need to be judgemental. It's not just sitting there going R2. I hit the cave after a long session to unwind with friends. Getting head shots is like therapy for me. Plus, you have the events every 30 min and the all out war at sunrise and sunset. I sit and count blue and purple drops as I talk strategy with my friends. We plan our builds, guns and talk about life and the great beyond. It's the most social spot in destiny.

Oh right, I haven't ever seen them respawning though. Is there like a specific time or trigger for it?

It seems random. I've had it happen at least 3 times while at the cave. A ton of guys will spawn from there, the cave, and fallen will come down the hill. It's pretty crazy.

Good rule of thumb for life when looking at any job that you don't do every day.

Every sunrise and sunset. It will say above your super bar,, "the enemy has turned on each other".

Why is it called "cheesing?"

Are people just too uncomfortable with calling it "cheating?"

And hey, I've done it more than once to take care of the Phogoth strike. I'm just asking why it's called that.

You need one exotic and the rest raid gear to become level 30. I need one more piece....

And all the raid gear you got so far was from the raid itself? No random drops in Crucible or elsewhere?

Did you get at least one piece the first time beating it? We're going to beat the last boss tonight and I hope I get one.

Wouldn't you get kicked for inactivity for sitting there too long? I've always wondered that, but didn't want to find out myself lol

I was "playing" on the Vita while watching football. Fire a couple shots every now and then. move a bit. 1 football game (3hrs-ish) yielded 3 purple engrams, lots of blues and countless greens. Final take was upgrading 2 blue armors for versions with more light, a purple helmet and countless weapon and wire parts.

I also received 3 more purple engrams for through leveling up the cryptarch. One turned into a legendary fusion rifle. Here is a caveat, without a Vita this would have turned from no big deal into monotony. The most time spent there other than this way is probably 15 minutes or so.

The moon has some really weird chest spawn points.

Has anyone had bugged gear that won't upgrade? My blue gauntlets have a full progress bar and it LOOKS like I should be able to select the extra unlocks, but I can't in-game:

Don't take this the wrong way, but did you select the first upgrade? I made a bonehead move when I first started upgrading gear and thought I selected the first upgrade but did not. Then when I tried to open/purchase subsequent unlocks I thought it was broken when it didn't work. It looks like your first upgrade is in white, meaning it's available to unlock.

Level advantages are disabled, but your weapon damage still matters. A level 10 is going to have a lower damage weapon than a level 25 or 26.

No it doesn't. Weapon damage is normalized.

However, the extra abilities aren't normalized such as reload speed, extra ammo, etc. Also fully leveled subclasses will be better off than a subclass that isn't fully leveled, as those abilities are still in play.

So honest question guys

It's not. It's a complete waste of time.

Play the mode(s) you enjoy and you'll eventually reap the rewards.

Thorn. And as a heads up, you aren't on the last part of that bounty. You'll need to defeat Xyor the Unwed in the Level 26 Epic Strike (aka the Summoning Pits on hard as hell mode) to get the gun afterwards. Better start saving Arc/Solar weapons now..

Haha wow. Thanks.

I wonder if I should even bother...

I am level 22 so it would take some serious effort, and I have heard Thorn is a bit meh.

Quick question as I've never done it.

Do the drops dissappear? Like do I have to go pick them up every so often or can I just kill for an hour and then go grab everything that dropped.

The big question will be if Destiny has enough staying power to warrant the constant tweaking and experimenting required to get it right. Heck, it took D3 over two years to finally get their loot system to a good spot, and some would argue that even now it's not balanced. Will anyone still be playing Destiny in two years?

bungie plz.

I love the companion app but my bad ass guy that looks like this in game:

ends up like this:

in the app.

1st world problems but damn. Just give me a render jpg of how he looks.

I'm just a bit miffed that the website pretends the 3d render doesn't work on IE 11, when you can spoof the Chrome useragent and get it fully functional.

Keep telling yourself that while I get Exotics and Legendaries for little time investment.

I couldn't care less about how much free time you waste doing activities that barely require your brain to be working.

Exotics and Legendaries don't do anything against me on the Crucible either, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
