just got Patience and Time from Atheon. One more reason to ditch the painful Bad Juju grind!

How does match making in the crucible work? I keep getting thrown into matches with players way above my level. Then when I lose or don't do well, I don't get rewarded.

Also, how come match making takes place again after every match? Finding it hard to believe that 11 other players are quitting the matchmaking lobby to sit in queue again.

There doesn't appear to be any level based matchmaking at all. The drops are completely random. It doesn't matter how well you do at all.

Anyone know if the stats on exotic armor are set in stone, or are they variable?

Obviously max light and defense should stay the same, but I'm wondering about secondary stats like strength and intelligence.

well it happened guys, i cant bring myself to play Destiny anymore, i think ive had my fill. i am with out a doubt burnt out, im going on a months long hiatus for Destiny, if the expansions are decent then ill see about jumping back in but i generally have no real interest or excitement for the DLC. (also i really dont feel right investing more money into Destiny after my disappointments on it)

maybe ill be back around that time

keep fighting the good fight guardians!!!!

Yup. That's why it took me one crucible match to find out that gear/level is everything. I'm a level 9 going against level 25s.

Gee game, I guess I'll take a free Dustwalker helmet instead of scrounging up marks to buy it instead.

Sometimes, those Vanguard rank up bonuses do pay off.

What's the best way to beat the Nightfall strike with a 27 Titan. 25 Warlock and 25 Hunter?

Cheese it. For the rune decoding, drag monsters back to the first hallway, they won't follow you through the second door. The wizards will follow you through the first door, and you can slowly pick them off from there. Just make sure you have void damage for their shields.

For Phogoth, supposedly there's a magic rock in the main room, but I haven't used it. Instead, I camp in the second room before the entrance to Phogoth. Run into the doorway, shoot him for about 5-6 seconds, run back. When the shrieker spawns in the first room, wait for him to despawn.

Also bring a few ammo synthesis.

Just my opinion, but I think the heroic strikes are overtuned. I don't care if you have 3 level 30s, nobody is beating Summoning Pits on Nightfall legit by running around the room killing adds. Just not happening. Defense, as it stands, seems to be a completely useless stat. Does nothing. You can't get "less 1-shotted"

It will be interesting to see what Bungie's philosophy is regarding common farming locations and techniques. Any time something like the Treasure Cave has been discovered in Diablo III, for instance, it seems like Blizzard nerfs it less than a day later.

I guess Bungie doesn't mind people having their fun for now.

Has anyone had bugged gear that won't upgrade? My blue gauntlets have a full progress bar and it LOOKS like I should be able to select the extra unlocks, but I can't in-game:

I had a scout rifle that did that. When I switched weapons and did not have it equipped it let me do the upgrade.

The storytelling is bad in the game. The literal story is told poorly (as in the writing/dialog), and the use of gameplay to help tell story is quite literally non-existent. The lore and idea of the story is fascinating, sure. I enjoy the environments, and like being in the world, but they don't tell story. Looking up and seeing an old space shuttle rusting in Old Russia and inferring that humanity has abandoned much of its civilization isn't really telling a story, it's providing a setting. An interesting setting even, but a setting where a crappy, under-baked story is told through uninspired and lazy mission design.

Half Life 2 tells a story through its environments when you get off the train and walk through City 17 for the first time. Portal and its sequel tell a story through their environments as you progress and slowly see the pristine testing chambers peeled away to the decay underneath. Even going back to the WoW comparison, what modern WoW is doing with phasing to alter the geography or state of a zone as you progress through a quest-line to see a clear progression of story.

There's no way to sugar coat it. The story told in the video game Destiny is piss poor.

Related, the vendors in the Tower are a missed opportunity. There are potentially a lot of different characters to sketch out there, but they are stripped down to serve their basic function and no more; they're dispensers of stuff, not vendors. There are no strong personalities, they don't comment on the story as it progresses, they don't have histories or offer missions of their own. They just stand in one spot and dispense gear or bounties. (Some of my favorite characters in Skyrim were vendors; the general store dude in Whiterun was hilarious.) Another window for story telling, not utilized.

Fusion is way way worst.

Sort of one of the reasons I picked Pocket Infinity as my exotic bounty. It’s a fully automatic fusion rifle. I need to see how OP it is in Crucible. Just one more rare fusion rifle to dismantle and it’s a cakewalk from there.

One of my biggest gripes with the vendors is no ability to chat with them about ANYTHING. Let them tell us shit about what's going on. Build up the world. Such a terrible missed opportunity.

Or they realize as soon as they take it out a majority of players would stop playing. ok, maybe not but still.

Doing raids are useless.

That's a matter of opinion, I guess. I watched the 10 hour one online and it looked like a lot of fun. I'm a 25 3/4 so I'm so close to being able to do them. I need better weapons, though.

Cave, you and me have a date after work. Please wear that purple dress.

So I can only have one exotic armour equipped at a time? So if I wanted a Helmet from Xur on the weekend, will I have to wait until he has the item again? I assume his equipment cycles every week?

I just know Bungie are up to something. Either tuning the drops down or tuning them up and loosening the grips on the trolling by the Cryptarch.

So honest question guys

Is it actually worth farming treasure cave? I've been debating it but I'm not sure if its actually worth the time or not.

I found it boring. You can check it out for 20 min. Like others said, you could just stand there if other people are farming it already and get the drops.

I bet you're trying to pick the middle defense upgrade aren't you... ;) You have to pick the far left one first, and work your way down.
