So far "insane fan theories involving something supernatural or Marty/Rust as the killer" are 0-7.

Yeah, but I never would have suspected them to return to the lawnmower guy or deal with Tuttles demise off-screen. Both have been surprising to me and I have no idea what to expect on Sunday.

Maggie's dad the Yellow King isn't out of question, or we never even see Maggie again. No idea.

But yeah, there have been some dumb ones.

A friend at school thinks maggie is in on it. Why did she meet rust in 2012? I assumed she was gonna apologize. Maybe she is part of cult that her dad is in. Why else didn't she lash out at Audrey when she came home after having sex with two older men? Why else did you think Maggie fuckd Rust? to get him off the case. maggie knows that marty would lash out on rust and that would sever their relationship.

But did anyone notice When Marty went to visit his wife there was a picture of Audrey standing next to one of her paintings...

It looks like a picture of a girl with stars on her face.
 
Rewatched episode 6. Trying to understand why Maggie would lie during the interview. Up to that point she hasn't talked to Marty in 2 years. So is it just guilt? Embarrassment? It's just sticking out at me, and I'm curious to hear reasons. She's moved on, why hide something?

They set it up before that with the "detective's wife" routine. She knows something's up, and she doesn't want to incriminate either Rust or Marty.

Possibly. She's smart enough to realize something is up, and she cares enough about Marty to seek out Rust about Marty's well being.

Maggie's in on it now? We've almost reached our saturation point for shitty twist theories.

Maybe Pizzolatto himself is the yellow king. At the end he'll emerge from a pool of blood, cloaked in a stained yellow "I'm with stupid" T-shirt and burger king crown. He'll pull back a curtain to reveal M. Night Shyamalan, secret co-writer of this season. He'll reveal that the entire show was a dream inside of Marty's head and Rust was dead the whole time. *roll credits*

Your friend reads too much fan fiction.

The creator has been upfront from the start that the series is about the detectives, and the case is only a vehicle for their development. It'll be straightforward.
 
Rewatching the episodes one more time before finale. Still finding little comments I missed the first go around.
