I really think the idea of up and coming actors or previous tv actors moving into films is an unrealistic scenario. JGL, Idris Elba, Tom Hardy or Tom Hanks seem unrealistic IMO because it just doesn't seem like their current career path right now.

I think more realistic is a Dustin Hoffman type scenario where a older star actor might want to flex his muscle in a new format or take the chance to work with a great writer/director to elevate his status or have a chance at a late life defining role. Or more open minded supporting film actors who want a defining role or medium to big actors that's careers have been up and down. I'm thinking along the lines of Sam Rockwell, Mark Ruffalo, guy Pearce, Chris Cooper, Josh Brolin, Nick Nolte, Alec Baldwin or even a Bruce Willis if he's back in his wanting to be taken serious mode again. Then again I also think a female will be a featured star of the show so I don't know on that front....

I think those are the ceilings of star power to be thinking about realistically though.

....Personally Ian Mcshane would be a dream casting for me. I think he's criminally underrated and Al Swearengen was one of the greatest characters in tv or film in history IMO. Though it doesn't fit what I think are realistic casting choices since he's at this point very low profile and not a name the series can hang their hat on marketing wise.

Thought maybe it was a hallucination. Just kidding.

The cast here set the bar so high. I don't care who signs on for season 2 as long as it's good. I got tired of AHS, although I'm not sure if it's because of the same actors or the writing.

Jennifer Lawrence on HBO? That means only one thing. We see her boobs.

God, I try really hard not to catch a glimpse of a Jennifer Lawrence picture online because it's really hard for me to just not stare for a couple minutes. Thanks.

I wonder if more famous actors are going to be interested in starring in the series after seeing how good this season turned out. Although, different director next season right? So who knows :[

I heard they're already getting Inquiries.

I'd like to see like Method Man do something in the show. His acting in the Wire was underrated.

Dolph and Arnold are Interpol agents working to uncover the truth about horse meat in Europoean microwave meals (WHICH WE ALREADY SAW MARTY EATING!!!).

Idris Elba playing the two detectives, one them channeling Peter Sellers all the time.Y̛̏҉̴͚̠̼̯̦̠̦͎o̟͓͎͉̻͛̽ͩ̄ͅu̜͓͈̳͔̘̰̘̅̈́̔ͧ͐́̀͜ ̬͓̠̮̩̳̉͢͡ḁ̢͇͎͕̭̞̏̃́ͅṙ̟̒͗̊̀͞ͅe̝̹͙͊́͠ ̌ͩ̾̾̒͏͉̪̞̩̣̥̬́͡i̬̫̻̬̟͈͖ͥ̈́͂̚ņ̯̫̈̅͊͌̍̅͞ ̟͖̤̝ͣͮͤ͑̊͌̚C̽ͧ̆̓͛͑ͫ̕͏̬͓ͅä̦̝̣̥͇̖́̍͢r͖̰̯͚̤̺͍̠ͨ̑ͬ͟c̈҉̬̝̞͖͡o̟ͫ̔̇ͩͨ̓̈̑̀͘s̴̯͈̝̘ͧ͑̈́ͯ͞͝ą̵͔͔͙͇͇̻͉ͧ̓͋ͯ̄̈ ̬͙̳̄́̅͛̉͝n̰̠̜̱̱̤͓̈́̽͟͟ͅo̦̳̖̥͚͙̜̔̓̎ͥͭ̍ͥ͝w̡̞̯͑̊̓ͭ.̶ͮ̉͋̃҉̝̬̝

real talk: why the fuck is GAF so obsessed with Idris Elba? Every other post seems to be about him.

BUT GAF IS NOT A MONOLITHIC ENTITY!!!

The daughter conspiracy just keeps on picking up steam with every episode that does nothing to perpetuate it. Do you even see that it's a grown woman in that drawing?
So what exactly is the "conspiracy" youre talking about? I havent seen anything that elaborate beside people asking questions.

There has been some curious shit surrounding Audrey. What that actually means (if anything) is unknown obviously. People just wonder if there will be an explanation or connection for any of it in the finale. That's it. If you wanted to speak up in the name of logic and rational thinking, "Marty: the King in Yellow" would have been the time to make a stand

Isnt Audrey living in New Orleans now? Theres a lot of Santeria over there too.

I still think Viggo and Naomi watts would be the best

Either her or cate Blanchett (or even both) and set it in the seedy underbelly of.....North Dakota

There's a shadow on you son.

The murder in 2012 at the lake happened only a few days before Rust was interviewed. If Maggie makes it apparent that she doesn't talk to Audrey much but that she trusts her boyfriend who takes care of her. Meanwhile, the murder has been kept off the press and the only one who's seen the pictures are the investigators plus Rust and Marty.

Given these circumstances and the fact that Audrey's story is clearly leading somewhere, I think there's a good chance the girl in the 2012 murder is in fact Audrey.

Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell for TD S2.

I should have made my use of that word more clear, well in fact legible at all since conspiracy by itself... Anyway, I was getting at the conspiracy theory tone that some of these screen caps and theories of ever more elaborate and obscure set ups on the director/writer's behalf for the supposed eventual reveal seem to be making a mountain out of a molehill. It's idle banter during the downtime anyway(on my part).

I must have missed the Marty Yellow King stuff, was that related to those shots of Rust standing behind some sort of sign where the perspective made it seem as if he was wearing a yellow crown?

Stuff like this. And this.

You can go all the way down the rabbit hole, if you want

We haven't heard from movie_club since. Carcosa has him now

Regarding Audrey, I can see it being something much more subtle and ultimately inconsequential to the case. She might not be a direct victim nor would anything end badly for her in the story. Rather, if Marty just discovers along the way at the end that she has been somewhat involved with this dark subculture in the region since she was young, possibly due to peer influence and lack of direct parental supervision, and might still be part of it now, it would conclude the character arcs in a thematic way where on one hand it shows that there are survivors among children who were influenced by these events, not everyone disappears or dies, and so it's actually far wider than people think. On the other hand, it shows that Marty has ultimately truly failed as a father, and there is no total redemption, because even if he stops one thing, he cannot stop everything. The world moves on.

It would also fit with the pattern of abuse society inflicts on women and children, especially institutionalized abuse. Not victim is going to come forward, not every victim becomes a narrative in the media. Thus making serious problems in society harder to notice and account for as long as people don't care to take a serious look at what could be happening around them.

No it didn't. It was MONTHS before the interview. Why is it that people who come up with the strangest theories are the ones who seem to pay attention the least to actual details in the story being told? Lol.

The detectives didn't see the murder and immediately suspect a hero detective from 20 years ago. They were building their own case, but doing a bad job of it, and their suspicions were roused when they started getting reports that this strange guy who turns out to be Cohle was spotted around the crime scene doing his own digging many times over an entire month.

Let me help with some visualization to dispel this stupid theory that Audrey is the victim.

This is a close up of the Lake Charles report when Cohle was looking at it in episode 5. It's zoomed in and super clear for the audience to get a good look at it for a second or two before he closes the file. You can see the victim has a name, there's information on the person, and the filing date was Jan 12. The victim clearly isn't Audrey Hart.

This is the date of Marty's interview - May 1. He was interviewed after Cohle, and Cohle contacted him after his interview, probably on the same day. Maggie was interviewed after Marty was, on another day. Marty contacted Maggie some time after her interview, so it was probably a week or two after Marty's interview when he visited her.

That puts 4 months at least 2 months or more between the murder and Marty visiting Maggie. Not only is the victim not identified as Audrey Hart, but considering how close Maggie is with her daughters, it is impossible to believe that Audrey would be missing for 4 months without her showing any concern. She says that Audrey just had an art show in New Orleans. She's definitely not missing.

Please stop the bad theories, pay attention to the story the show is actually trying to tell, and if people want to make up crazy random ass theories, at least base it on stuff the show is actually suggesting instead of the complete opposite. :)

This is it guys, Pierce Brosnan and Milla Jovovich for that european themed season two someone mentioned.

More pressing question for the finale: do both men make it out alive and are either wanted by the law when all's said and done? Rust talking about life in Alaska and tying things off, Marty saying his goodbyes, I'm a little disconcerted over here.

I must be blind, where on that form is the date?

i don't think the audrey stuff is going to be tied up nice and neat in this last episode. i think the writer has absolutely told us that she has been impacted by this "cult." however, leaving it the way that it is speaks on marty's failure as a father. all of the signs were there, but he didn't see them. marty never realizing the connection drives that point home even harder.

I find it hard to remember all of the details when watching the show over a period of 2 months. It's amazing how much you forget. How do you keep track of the important stuff?
I guess I need to go through and rewatch it.

My only desire for S2 isn't a casting thing, but a location one. I'd like to contrast the hot, murky, soggy backroads of Louisiana with a harsh, cold, winter setting.
