On the differences in Nier said:
NIER in North America for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 is exactly the same game as Nier Gestalt for Xbox 360 in Japan. The only other version of the game is Nier Replicant only for PlayStation 3 and ONLY in Japan. The only difference between these two versions is the main character. In NIER and Nier Gestalt Nier is a father saving his daughter while in Nier Replicant a much younger Nier is a brother saving his sister.

The stories are exactly the same, other than the main character Nier who is younger in Replicant. There are obviously some minor script alterations to make the dialogue work, but aside from that, the story, characters, gameplay and experience are exactly the same.

There are no plans to bring Nier Replicant outside of Japan at this time.

That's a really nice OP.
But for those of us that haven't been following, why exactly are there two games if the West is only getting one? What's the deal with that? ARE they in fact different, or is it just a branding thing? Really been keeping myself in the dark about Nier(s).

That's such a good looking hermaphrodite
And this thread has now made me uncomfortable :(

C'mon reviews!

Gosh some of those pics really remind of Twilight Princess.

Oh wow you're right. lol the graphics.

So if you prefer Replicant you are someone who like incest, affraid of his own/lack of masculinity, a stupid person who prefer JP VA and don't like change since you can't appreciate something else than androgynous design?

That's some objective flowchart you have there.

I'm going to be so embarrassed if that girl character comes onscreen when I'm playing in the living room. Jesus. :lol Looks interesting enough, though. Lets see if S-E mucked up this one, too.

That's the weirdest version difference I've ever heard of. Is there supposed to be some kind of significance to it in the story, or is it just some weird attempt to get more demographics?

Second one.

Square Enix could not be more naive in their attempts to do "western friendly" titles. This dual-style game just illustrates that even more. It's almost like they appear more stupidly Japanese when they're trying to do a western game

At least a Japanese title, that is okay with what it is, will sell to a dedicated audience who appreciates that style. The ugly man-beast wrestler will NOT appeal to the "average westerner" any more than the girlie boy will.

I find this whole thing rather insulting.

So getting this game...

The Take Out Bandit said:
Does Cavia have an incest clause in their development contract?

Wasn't incest a theme in the Drakengard games as well IIRC? :lol
Yes, between Caim and Furiae. It's incredibly understated in the American version, i.e., whole swathes of cutscenes were taken out that go into more depth with this.

If I wasn't on a healthy diet that involved staying away from Cavia games, I would get Replicant.

I have no desire to play as Nick Nolte.

I just noticed the pics of dickgirl has no crotch shots. They're all butt shots. :lol

After watching the 2003 Hulk movie today, I fully support this Nick Nolte looking character.
