This black Series S makes me want a Series S.
Looks so good! Would replace our white Series S with this one if it’s ever released.

Hi all, I'm just back from a 7 year ban for trolling PS Vita, happy to help keep the thread updated with any news/tweets I see.

First of all, welcome back. Second thank you for the offer to help keep up the thread and all the great posts this morning.

I think those of us that have been here since this threads inception have been really spoiled by all the hard work Bernkastel Bernkastel put in to creating it and subsequently busting his ass to keep it constantly updated. When RL interrupted Bernkastel's updating Hix Hix stepped up to the plate and took over like a champion.

Hopefully Hix will cool off after a couple of days realizing the really rabid Sony fanboys aren't worth the oxygen they consume let alone giving them exactly what they want by his leaving. In the interim or barring his return your help will be greatly appreciated.

Any guesses what it'll be?

EDIT: Control on Gamepass?

Shit I bet it is Control and finally broke down and bought it the other day. Well at least it was really cheap, but I should have known better.

Every time I think I want to buy a game it comes to Game Pass. So far I've been lucky and it's come to GP before I buy it.

If you have less than 2 hours of playtime and 14 days since purchase you can get a refund.

Also might want to wait. It could be just the Xbox one version and not the ultimate edition.

Yeah, I was thinking that it would likely be just the base game, plus it was only $20 so I'll probably keep it. I haven't played it all so far so if it makes it to GP before my 14 days are up I decide then.

Yeah it's probably the standard edition but you never know. EA Play games, for example, are always the "ultimate" editions.

Speaking of refunds, Xbox Support tweeted a guide on how to get them for digital purchases today

I cant blame him. Outside of this thread is a complete shitshow of conspiracies, memes, warriors, etc. That dont affect me personally, but i can undersrand some people could find that tiresome.
I fight back by trolling them all. Maybe not the most mature approach, but it is entertaining.

That office, of course, has far fewer members of the team in it than usual, with Poland in a "soft lockdown" in which remote work is strongly encouraged where possible. The transition hasn't been an easy one for Bloober Team, who recently had to push back the launch of its next major project, The Medium, from this November to January 2021.

"Lockdown impacts the last stage of development because normally we're sitting together, and it's much easier to communicate for hotfixing. We can walk over to the programmers and say we've got this problem, and then it's resolved. Now we have to call each other, but that person might be on another call, or away from the keyboard, and it gets a bit crazy," says Zięba.

"Something that would normally take three minutes could now take three hours or three days," concurs lead game designer Wojciech Piejko. "We as a team are really close to each other, so not being around each other for this final stage of development is a real problem."
A new trailer, which made its debut at this year's Golden Joystick Awards, also reveals that Marianne won't be the only human character wrapped up in the events of The Medium's campaign, which primarily takes place within an abandoned hotel in rural, post-communist Poland. The short cinematic shows a mysterious man sat in an armchair, threatening to murder an unidentified invader of his home – it's all as ambigious and brooding as you'd expect, but Zięba is happy to tease a little bit more about his identity.

"We actually saw a glimpse of this guy in The Medium's reveal trailer. You can see him smoking a cigarette on the main square. We want to keep teasing more pieces to the puzzle that the players will be able to solve, and show that the world and the stories are bigger than they might think. The game is not only Marianne's story, but there are other characters out there with other agendas. And of course, everything in our game is based on perspectives!"
Despite starting life as an idea all the way back in 2012, The Medium is now one of the few games that's exclusively targeting next-gen consoles in the form of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, as Bloober state that its newly patented world-shifting gameplay couldn't have operated on the previous hardware.

Instead, those super-charged SSDs within Microsoft's new systems ensure that players will be able to swap between two separate realities at the click of a button – it's quite possibly the first title that will utilise the next-generation's power for targeted integration into its gameplay.

"When we have both these realistic graphics in the game and two worlds existing at the same time, it just wasn't possible to run on the old consoles," Piejko reveals. "Horsepower is the main ingredient that lets The Medium exist as a playable game, so we knew we needed to aim for the next-generation consoles, which is why we started talking with Microsoft."
Bloober Team doesn't want you to know about its internet history. Not because you'd find anything salacious, per se – more because it probably looks like the browsing activity of a sociopath. Or maybe a magician of the dark arts. Either way, it's not the most flattering picture of the studio's collective hivemind, unless, that is, you're familiar with its back catalogue of excellent horror games since 2016's Layers of Fear.

"I think we are on like a police blacklist," says game producer Jacek Zięba, half-jokingly. "They're probably checking on our IP address after all the things we've been searching for in the office!"

So, I was looking for new games that are optimised for X|S and found out that Tesla Force is one of them. It is a sequel to Tesla vs Lovecraft - a surprisingly fun twin-stick shooter. Not sure I would ever buy it for a price they are selling it, but 120 fps junkies should check it out.

Of course, I have waited and waited for Control to come to Gamepass only to finally cave and get the Ultimate Edition on sale in preparation of the X optimisation. I should've known better by now but I guess I didn't.

Seems like several of us did. Oh well, if it's as good as Quantum Break I'll want to play it more than once. Since it's not 1st party it won't be on GP forever and also it may not be the ultimate edition.

Control has to be the most rumoured but never showed up on Gamepass game in the history of game pass.

Maybe this is finally the time.

And...my Gamepass backlog looks to be growing faster than I can knock ‘em out.

Heard great things about Control...except that the framerate had issues on certain prior consoles. As we know....Series X brute-force takes care of these issues. 😊

While I’m here I should mention that my Series X has been performing flawlessly. The absolute silence of this thing is remarkable.

Same here. Even Fallout 3 is now using QR half the time, the other half not so much.

Sadly it's been missing all the usual Bethesda bugs and glitches up until yesterday when it finally gave my my first freeze in this play through and today I got a true BGS graphics masterpiece. I shot and killed a raider but instead of dropping to the ground he flew way up in the air and did endless cartwheels.

Now that feels more like the Fallout I know and love. 🤣

Mine is also dead silent. I can't hear ANYTHING out of it. I turned off the sound and put my ear against it and I think I may have hear a very low humming sound, but I'm not sure because it was SO faint.

Only accessory I need a discount on is that $220 expansion drive :messenger_grinning_smiling:

You and me both. I don't see those things going down in price anytime soon. I fear they'll be the 360 hard drives or Vita memory cards of this gen. I recall hearing that other manufacturers would be producing them as well but the fact that we have only seen the Seagate drive isn't exactly promising.

$220 IS somewhat expensive but at least we have that and other options for next gen game storage.

It could be much worse, like being limited to only 625GB of storage for next gen games with NO option to expand it or even use a external drive for cold storage,

From my understanding Seagate has a exclusive period for helping design the standard after that basically any reputable company can license and manufacture them.

I'll say this here, because there is less chance of a lynch mob, but I wonder how long it will take to get the expandable storage on PS5 working and whether or not software ever runs in exactly the same way from that drive. The whole setup with the addon drive running through the primary drive's controller (sharing those PCIe lanes?) when the system drive will still be in active use for the OS seems problematic. Maybe it won't be, but it will be interesting to see.

I can understand that. The GameCube/PS2 memory card form factor is definitely a good thing-easy for the consumer to use and to understand. Cold storage too but PS5 will get that as well at somepoint. 1TB is not a lot of space on the Xbox Series X but 800GB is even worse. Really hope to see some Samsung and Western Digital Xbox drives a few months down the road to drive the price down.

The good thing about the PS5 is there will be competition and options since it will be able to use something off the shelf. The bad part is the white list and bizarre disassembly for installation will probably be beyond the average consumer. It would probably be in Sony's interest to get some SSD manufacturers to print "Compatible w/ PS5 on the box" and even white label some chips for Sony to sell as an official PS product.

Overall I think Xbox has the more elegant solution for the average consumer while PS will likely win on price in the long run...either way I wouldn't describe the situation as ideal. 1TB/800GB is just not enough for this new gen.

800gb is a fine starting point for the average consumer who buys 1-3 games a year. Problem is when people are treating these systems like a video archive and hoard. I might play that game again in the next 7 years but probably not and still want to keep it on the system drive. Microsoft and sony are building around the average consumer who actively plays maybe 3 games at once. No reason to drive costs up for outliers who want to hoard 10tbs of games.

Control, Dragon Quest XI S, Gears 5 DLC, Call to the Sea and...

We were told the rest of the Final Fantasy series would be on there by the end of 2020, but that could be pushed back.

Exciting times nonetheless.

Reading around, people really really want Forza to go to Japan, like, no other place matters, if future places are talked about, Japan will instantly appear and everyone will be like "Yes, let's do Japan, i can't believe last game stuck with Europe over what people actually want, Japan!" so i assume it will happen at some point.

Don't think it uses the controller, it will share the main custom I/O chip but the controller is separate and specific to the onboard SSD - they mentioned the point that the expansion will only have 2 priorities where the onboard SSD has 6. That would also imply it has it's own PCIe connection? It's disappointing there are no options for expanding the storage for PS5 games yet, hopefully that gets sorted soon.

I think the FH4 UK map worked well with the seasonal focus. Decent variety and "home" for Playground Games too. Japan next would be a good option because it offers great scenery and a good chance to focus on Japanese cars and culture too.

Aside from Japan being a beautiful location, what a way to get more of the Japanese interested in your next console than to set a driving game there? Seems good to me.

Surprised it's taken someone so long to think of this.

Not gonna lie, I actually thought of this a few days ago. I moved my console left a bit for more airflow and it was annoying my OCD. Thought about sticking it in the middle with the vent facing out but I don’t think I have the depth in my cabinet. That and disc drive access. Might give it a try though because it does looks good.
