Not to be a stickler but pre-orders are $35 only when GMG has one of their awesome coupon codes going. They're still $49.99-59.99 on Steam. And they don't drop to $5 in 6 months unless the game is just a total bomb. Will Xbox One games be $35 to pre-order? Will they drop to $5 within 6 months? I doubt it.
DNA test.
Some of you guys aren't even trying to hide the fact that you want Sony to fuck up as bad as MS when it comes to this now.
I have felt that the industry is on its way to another collapse, but I thought it would be to skyrocketing budgets, not to corporate stupidity.
It's scary to think how many secret shills we must have on this forum if this thread is an indication.
It's a transitional phase to a DD-only future, a few years down the line. The aggressive pricing can't come while DD is competing with retail. So basically as i think a lot of us feared. Steam without the aggressive pricing. And the ball remains in Sony's court...
Nice to see answers popping up. A lot of this sounds fair to me.
Forgetting all the other onerous shit, any kind of required internet check-in means you don't own your games anymore. You're just renting them from the publishers for 6 years or so and then when the authentication servers get taken offline, you're shit out of luck.
Fuck Microsoft and the publishers pushing this shit. If Sony follows suit, I'll happily switch to being a PC only gamer.
They're not as bad as this, I assure you.
Almost certainly this will be one of two things.
1. It's entirely up to the user, and people will have a reason not to put their friends on because of annoying limitations like "only one person in the family can play from the shared library at a time".
2. All the family members' accounts have to use the same credit card.
Can anyone think of anything else they'd realistically do?

Welp. No Gamefly no buy. It's as simple as that.

So I just got on, read the first page, read page 52, what is general sentiment been like for this thread? The first page has several "I guess that's reasonable", "not as shit as before", etc. replies, then clicked Last Page (which was 52 at the time) and it's the opposite. Did something happen or just more clarity?
I'm not sure what to think, personally. It's better than before but "publishers can enable trade-in for their games" has me skeptical. I don't care about the 24 hour check and I don't loan games to friends, but trading-in/reselling is important.

Microsoft knows that when they show some awesome exclusives many will either forget about this shit or choose to go along with it.
If Sony does this too, Wii U is going to seem really appealing all of the sudden.
if you think that Sony won't do the same thing....i only have one thing to say: keep dreaming
I don't think Zelda Wii U will be out for quite a while.Yep. Now we just need some Wii U games. Preferably at least one of them being a new Zelda.
They are diversifying into publishing...
Man, I was thinking I walked into the twilight zone with so many people saying "eh this isn't bad" and "this is actually better than I expected".
Until...
Thank you Gaf Gods, thank you.
Damn if rentals are gone, games should either be on sale all the time, or drop in price much faster like they do on Steam.
I dreamed that Sony wouldn't charge for playing games online, and I enjoyed my free online gaming on the PS3 for 7 years.
Here's dreaming that it continues for the PS4 and beyond.
I'll quote myself from a few pages back.
it's an official FAQ on the official Xbox.com site? what clarity isn't there to be had?
Urrgghhhhhh.
The great thing about digital services? They're anything you say they are, and whatever you say they are can be changed at any time.I was sitting here trying to figure out how this is legal, and I think I've got it... and if I'm right, it's genius, in a way, if pretty reprehensible too.
It's the cloud. Have cloud functionality? Suddenly you're not selling a product, you're providing a service. And it's quite reasonable to restrict how a service is consumed and transferred, when that's not the case with the product.
Might as well wait a week to see if they have a price cut coming!

How would they know if is a family member or not?

Microsoft wouldn't force Xbox Live membership on users to use all these 'features'...right?
So whats the salary over at MS?
Good benefits?
