With Sony exclusives going to PC, PS+ should be abolished.

It is as simple as this... if Sony are going to put exclusives on Steam and Epic store, they should be willing to treat their console gamers with the same respect as a PC gamer.

Online gaming should be free, the income from PC should be plenty to compensate them for the lost revenue given the enthusiasm they have for that platform now.

I also think they should go a step further and promise to match or beat Steam sales or let Steam on to PlayStation as a secondary store.

I would invite anyone on PlayStation 4 or 5 to cancel or set their subscription to 'do not automatically renew' to show Sony that if they want to be like a PC publisher, they can be in more ways than one.
I don't know you and I really don't mean this in a disrespectful way but you come across as a spoiled brat lol. Sony is releasing UC4 YEARS after it came out on PS4, the PS5 will even be getting a remastered version for crying out loud. This is going to be the 3rd game so far out of their AAA game library that's being ported to PC, hell even the PS5 is getting a remastered version of it. PS+ is one of the main reasons Sony can keep making the kinds of games they do, the best thing Xbox ever did for PlayStation was show them that people would be willing to pay for online play and that brings in a ton of money for PlayStation. Your logic makes no sense, 3 old games are ported to PC and only one has multiplayer (are we sure that part is being ported?) and now Sony should just give up billions of dollars? You need to come back down to reality a bit man that's not going to happen nor should it. I am fine with old games being ported over, it doesn't hurt me that more people are exposed to PlayStation games years after I was able to play them.

Nah.

I bought my PS5 and its older brothers mainly to play its first party exclusives.

I will get to play them
YEARS before they land on PC.

Unless playing MP becomes free like back on PS3, I will not be boycotting my PS+ subscriptions as I use that to play Battlefield and COD with my homies.

You can go ahead and have fun with the games that land on your preferred machine. Most of us have had our fun with them already. 🤘🏼

So far, it has only been games that gave been out for years. None of the upcoming new PS5 games have been announced to be getting a PC release. Not to mention basically all of these games are single-player games that don't require PS+ anyway.

Does playing them YEARS before landing on PC give you some kind of superiority tho? You can have just as much fun playing your game for $70 Bugged and Incomplete Day One vs. the 12K version on PC Complete Edition for $5 for the first time 5 years down the road.

I enjoyed Virtua Fighter but thats about it. Between Gamepass, PS+, Nintendo Online, Gold, I just get this flood of games almost daily. The services are definitely devalued and that is primarily due to Gamepass being so much better.

If I ever had any inkling to play on PC (I dont), that would probably be worth it at this point. Just depends on the cost of a comparable PC. I still am stuck with consoles as that is all I've ever known or grown comfortable with.

They won't, they get a lot of money from that.

You guys won't buy a PC because you don't like them. Sony has no incentive.

Sonys games aren't really very good anyway. I don't see why you care. If you do care about this, I guess you agree with me.

I wouldn’t renew my PS+ and thanks to Sony I wouldn’t buy another Sony console and invest in a PC next. I am already playing games on my laptop and Steam is another world compared to my overpriced region PSN.

The one asking about a superiority complex should always ask himself first…

I get to play first party exclusives that pique my interests. It’s not my fault they come out YEARS before they land on PC. Besides I don’t have a “gaming PC” and I refuse to spend thousands on one just to play 5 year old PlayStation games.

But I already explained why I buy my PlayStation systems. Understand that and you’ll never have to question me again. 🤘🏼

People are REALLY upset about Uncharted getting a PC port, hey?

I actually agree with BryanK. I don't think it's a great idea for Sony to be doing it; I think they were far better off keeping their exclusives as exclusives. Not that I'm saying that's a pro-consumer move, or anything of the sort. But, in terms of the Playstation brand and their identity, having their stuff show up on Steam is a strange move to me.

But, at the same time, I don't actually think about it much because:

The Patientgamers lifestyle is cheapskate idiocy. Playing your games on a 5 year delay to save a few bucks? Get a job, for god's sake.

If I had any interest in those games, I would have gotten a PS. Historically I buy consoles for specific games they offer. So it won't change much for me that they are on pc now. I still probably won't buy them. PC has always been about RPGs, RTS (real time strategy), and simulation games for me. It's not even about graphics or being a snob, though it is insanely more costly now. I grew up with a Commodore instead of an NES or Sega. It was wonky and often the underdog in many ways. It's only recently, in my lifespan, that the 'pc masterrace' bs started. In fact I remember 2000-2010 where many journalists and companies actively tried to kill pc.

No one wants to see the health and quality of their longest running video games platform die. Mad props for genuine fandom. The real question is whether this will strengthen Sony to support quality games or weaken them?

I feel weird about it because I do definitely get more value than I have paid for PS+ with many of the games that are offered. Granted my opinion is that the system should just be redesigned. Gatekeeping "paid" online play behind the service isn't actually "real" value. PS+ should be an extra that encourages people to want it. Kinda like how gamepass has arisen to it's current position. Though this is a half baked idea just from skimming the thread.

MS has embraced PC a lot more and doesn't charge for online play on PC (after trying to do so blew up in their faces badly) but they still charges for it on Xbox so yeah... I don't really know what the OP expects to happen because this is not going to be taken remotely seriously

If they did this, i would unironically buy both a PS5 and PSVR2, as a bundle. I would easily give 1000+ dollarydoos to Sony.

But you and i both know they won't.

Right now, i am a PC gamer with no interest of buying a PS5. I didn't buy PS4 either (played the exclusives on PS Cafes)

I have had PS+ from almost when it started, and yet online play has been something I have always ignored. So... no? I actually mostly got PS+ just for cloud saves (my PS3 died and away went my saves), but I have played many of the "free" games too. And I have bought a game or three with the extra price cut for PS+ subscribers. I am too lazy to constantly make manual backup saves.

But I am sure happy that they are doing more PC stuff, man I hope day and date becomes a thing so I can ditch consoles.

Oh man, for me it's not even that. There is just SOOOO many gdam games. I can barely even consume all the ones on one platform. If I've waited five years for an old game, it's just because I had to choose. Favorites, priorities, and not enough time. 🤪

That's a far more reasonable argument.

But, those weirdos on Reddit who are like 'YES!!!! CALL OF DUTY INFINITE WARFARE FOR TEN BUCKS! IN YOUR FACE ACTIVISION!!' probably need to take more drugs, or less drugs, or somewhere in between.

Of course we should not have to pay for online play on consoles. These companies will never give up on that consistent easy revenue tho. Has nothing to do with PC tho. Also, PS Plus began as a monthly game subscription service, back when online was free on PS3. It could just return as that, no need to abolish it lol.

I don't see it. So PC should subsidize their network setup?

I could be wrong, but PC online gaming was often "free" because it was often basic peer-to-peer networking correct? That's quite a bit different from managing a large network infrastructure for your online services. Maybe the match-making ends up with P2P connections in the end, but again ... I don't see a problem with MS, Sony, or Nintendo charging for their online services. It takes money to run those things.

This still sounds like just being upset with years-late PC ports. The thing is, you're not missing out on anything with these ports. You literally just want other people to miss out. I think that's a little odd. You want people to have to buy a specific plastic box to play games. We all know why there are exclusives, and I think most people tend to like them. But at the same time ... it's just a game. It wouldn't matter if every game was everywhere if all the same games ended up getting made. If Naughty Dog said, we are putting our next game on every platform. PS, Xbox, Playstation. And then MS said, we are putting Starfield everywhere. PS, Xbox, Playstation.

It wouldn't change what those games are.

So are you liking games because of what they are? Or are you liking games because they are only accessible to people who buy a certain product? If it's the first I'm not sure actually "like games" as opposed to "liking Sony."

Yes, the point of this thread is to highlight how insignificant revenue from PC is..... by comparing it to just one of PlayStations revenue streams...not even the biggest one. It dwarfs PC port income to a ridiculous level.....

But they should decide what is important to them. These things are in conflict.....

I can see the trend with you Bryan. Just move to pc already and be happy because you're going to eventually. And no they will never get the same revenue from pc releases as ps plus. That thing brings in like 3BN a year.

There’s a difference between single player non multiplayer exclusives going to PC vs Halo, Forza, Gears, Fable, etc all launching day and date with multiplayer capability but PC players not having a paywall from Live or GameFly.

You need to just deal with a few things and get over it.

Subscription base multiplayer is a staple for console gaming now, if anything they'll just increase the price and add more shovelware features.
Previously exclusive games landing on PC was successful enough for it too continue.

It's truly baffling me why people are so angry about PS Exclusives going to PC. Are people really that precious about that stuff?

You mentioned your "subjective" superiority about playing them years in advance, I thought it was odd, so I questioned you, neither did anyone say its your fault.

The Patientgamers lifestyle is cheapskate idiocy. Playing your games on a 5 year delay to save a few bucks? Get a job, for god's sake.

Worst argument here. Why would I pay $70-$60 for something I can play later when I already have a large Steam Library to finish. Let alone free games being given out like crazy on PC? Usually they become free or are handed out within the 3 year mark. Lol, imagine missing out on genres like RTS's that will never see the light of day on console or even superior 8K emulation.

I barely play online at all anymore. But I still every year on Black Friday or other times throughout the year buy a year of PS plus. I think I’m good until 2024 but I just do it out of habit more than anything and for the thrill of the lottery of ps plus monthly games you might get. Although that usually ends in disappointment too.

PS Plus never made sense to me, the original selling point of the PS3 was free multiplayer I was against it to begin with 2 free terrible games a month is not enough.

Well, they are bleeding PS+ customers recently. I think now is the time to put pressure on them if you can. To give some pushback.

Particularly coming up to their quarterly report, it would be great
Would Sony really associate a drop in PS+ users with Playstation fans upset about PC ports? Or at least enough of drop for that specific reason?

Imo there's Nothing wrong with Sony releasing games on pc they need to because I see gaming changing and getting bigger and bigger , they are in competition with ms and now ms have instant access to millions and millions of pc gamers plus the users on consoles they sell ... I don't think it will be good for Sony in the long run tying them down to just a single console ecosystem while their competition spans 2 platforms , the majority of those pc gamers wouldnt buy a console in the first place .

The aim is to grow THEIR ecosystem... not PC. They are helping a competing platform by putting games on steam and epic.

If they want to expand, they can make a handheld. they already have a cloud option.

If they really really want to do PC.... they need their own launcher that uses PS+, to make things equal between their customers.
