SGF was the best show. Highlights for me were FF Revelation and Resident Evil Veronica. I think if Nintendo had actually shown a little bit of OOT Remake they would be the clear second place choice (or maybe even #1 depending on how good OOT Remake is) but because they showed so little and didn't have much new Nintendo titles, I think their showing isn't even enough for 2nd place. I would say Xbox's showcase won second place with an impressive showing including a very promising Gears E Day, a new Spyro finally being unveiled (thanks partly to Xbox's financial support for Toys For Bob), Fable continuing to look really good, a few other noteworthy reveals (Doom DLC, Persona 6 reveal, Crazy Taxi) and reenergized enthusiasm for the Xbox brand with the return of console exclusives.

MS announced a fair number of upcoming projects too. Most aren't my bag, but if you're into shooters, there was a lot of future content shown. That Magicians game tickled my brain.

My idea of a good show is biased towards new announcements too, which is why SGF takes the cake this year.
The only upcoming shooter I care about is Judas and a possible Destiny 3.

Unlike him you are serious though.

1. Summer Games Fest / Geoff Keighley (FF7R, Ueda, SB2, etc)

2. Nintendo (Xenoblade, KH4, Zelda)

3. Playstation (poor showing)

4. Xbox (would have made it third if the P6 reveal had gameplay)

1 - SGF
2 - Nintendo
3 - PS
4 - Xbox

I found it pretty surprising that there was nothing from Square Enix at the Sony show. SE presented FF7:Revelation at Gamefest and presented multiple games including Kingdom Hearts 4 at the Nintendo show. Sony got absolutely nothing, not even a 2DHD game like FF: Resonance. Huge change from a couple of years ago when Sony was moneyhatting SE in order to get timed exclusives like FF 16 and Forspoken.

What???
Most/many of the (non first party) games Nintendo shown is coming to PC. In fact, the following already have Steam pages:
- Final Fantasy Resonance
- One Piece: Grand Gourmet
- Muramasa
- Pikuniku 2
- Atelier Karia

And these are confirmed to be released on PC as well:
- Kingdom Hearts 4
- Dragon Quest Monsters
- Tales of Eternia Remastered
Other than Kingdom Hearts 4, none of those games interest me lol. They're mostly niche titles. Even dragon quest, the spin-offs barely sell at all outside Japan. I think the last DQ monsters only just passed 1m sales.

FFXVI bombed as a PS5 exclusive and FFVII Rebirth's sales disappointed as a PS5 exclusive. Japan is Nintendo land and S-E needs their titles to move beyond Playstation "soft" exclusives

Usually everybody loses for me, but this year I have to say that the 25th anniversary Xbox + Halo + Gears + Crazy Taxi, all looking good, made me quite happy for once.

1. Summer Game Fest: This was an easy #1. Which is surprising because I find the majority of Keighley's shows to be a terrible way to spend an evening, but credit where it's due. He really brought it this time.

2. Xbox Games Showcase: This and #3 are really close. There was a lot of stuff at both shows that doesn't interest me at all. I'll give the edge to Xbox, though, for having one of the coolest reveals out of all the shows (Magicians), and Clockwork Revolution - one of the very few announced games heading into the summer games season that I was looking forward to - continues to look like a strong GOTY contender for 2027.

3. State of Play: A few nice looking trailers (Tomb Raider, ILL) but Playstation first-party continues to not do it for me right now. I'm beyond tired of anything Marvel, and God of War Laufey looks like a major swing & a miss.

4. Nintendo Direct: This was a dud. Not a well-put together presentation even if there were games there that interested you. But as someone not into JRPGs or that excited about old games being ported over, this Direct was tough to sit through. Considering that it's releasing within the next six months, not showing any gameplay of OoT remake at the end was lame as fuck.

Summer Game Fest was the one with the most surprises.

Sony and Microsoft were similar level, promoting a few first party games and a few third party stuff.
Sony generated buzz on another planet with their first party stuff like Wolverine and God of War Laufey.

Nintendo...if it wasn't for the Ocarina remake mini teaser they could have not bothered at all.

Overall what matters is that regardless of the event where they were announced there is an incredible number of great games on the horizon, so much that unfortunately some will have to wait and won't get the sales they probably deserve.

Nintendo Direct had unmistakably strong vibes of the Wii death throes E3's and Wii U era's and the stock deservedly tanked over -10% on the back of that historically terrible presentation.

HUGE oversaturation of the quirky casual mobile game looking shit, metric shit ton of old ass ports, and barely small teasers of the handful of interesting games. 1 second of a Zelda remake, HD Remaster ass looking Xenoblade Genesis, no Mario teaser, no new AAA IP.

It's really hard to say. For me, some game series carry more weight than others so it's hard to declare a winner. I can say which announcement from each hit the most for me.

1. Summer Game Fest - Final Fantasy VII Revelation
2. Xbox Showcase - Gears of War: E-Day
3. Nintendo Direct - Xenoblade Genesis (only because they showed dick-all of Ocarina of Time)
4. State of Play - God of War: Laufey

Wait... nintendo had a show? I guess i missed it need to go look
Same, how early did they do it? Damn.

At the moment for me it's:
Summer Games Fest > Xbox show = Sony show.
I'll go watch Nintendos.
Edit: Never mind, that shit is on for 2 and a half hours.

That's only if you watch the treehouse demos afterwards. Actual show is pretty quick (for a couple of reasons).

Sony did what they needed to. They got out in-front of everyone and let the other shows upsell product for them.

Most of all it never mattered, because in 3 months they'll have another SOP keeping attention alive whilst most of what was revealed/shown this week is a dim and distant memory.
