Social media has given deadbeat losers a way "to win one". Whereas before they'd be stuck at home staring at TV channels and crying themselves to sleep, now all of them can band together like a motley crew of weirdos and cry together.
Not surprisingly, most of these people look odd, act odd, and have either no job or bad jobs. So they kill time doing Twitter and Instagram all day giving themselves clever profile bios and icons. Likely live at home too hoping their parents dont kick them out of the house at age 42.
You typically dont see someone with a decent life of family, job and middle class suburban lifestyle doing dickish stuff on social media. And the better someone does in life, the lower probability of being social media whiner.
When social media got invented in the 2000s, pretty sure the programmers thought it would simply be a good way to keep in contact with people and have fun posting pics, instead of modern day crybabies looking for attention and pressing politics. But here we are as the medium allows people to post whatever they want.

Personally, I can’t stand seeing anyone’s face on twitch. It loses the magic for me. Every time a YouTube I watch switches to showing their face, I unsubscribe and block them lol
