Look who is crying. Haven't heard anything from him for awhile

Yeah I kind of feel the whole "The Series S and the digital PS5 are the same price" is kind of arguing in bad faith if you have to bump up to the 1tb S

No one is buying that 1 tb machine for an extra $100 when the 1tb SSD can be had for $50 more

But thats just me
Not only can you not get a 512GB SSD for $50 right now, even if you could, it also won't work cause xbox uses a proprietary drive... and those start from 1TB. The cheapest way to get a $1TB Series S, is to buy the 1TB Series S.

I'm so confused. Who would pay this price?

Anybody with any level of discernment would see these prices and NEVER buy a series S at that price over a PS5.

So that just leaves the extreme high end of the series X, but then who wouldn't just buy the ps5 pro?

The only people in the world who would buy this are extreme Xbox fanboys… but they surely must already have their system of choice.

So that just leaves people who want to play GTA6, don't have any current gen system yet, and will blindly buy an xbox without looking into it at all.

So that's like what, five people?

1. Not everyone cares about graphics.
2. As a parent, I can see parents who are living paycheck to paycheck would rather have a monthly payment(whatever the cheapest game pass sub is $15?) rather than having to buy $70 games for their kids all the time.

Exactly! That's why I was comparing the PlayStation 5 DE to the 1 TB Xbox Series S edition. Personally, I think it's fair considering the price of SSDs.

Oh, it's totally fair, a 1TB Series S costs the same as a 1TB PS5. Doesn't get any simpler than that.

Doesn't take away from the fact that you can still get a Series S for a $100 less, though, and an argument can be made that the only person looking to buy a Series S is a very budget-minded gamer to begin with, so they likely wouldn't be interested in the 1TB SKU to begin with. But if we go down that path, then that same gamer would likely seek out a used console lol.

Not following your point here. What 1 TB is $50 more?

PS5 Pro will be at least $1000 USD before next generation begins at this rate.

They might have to reduce the SSD to 1TB to get the cost down.

Or food instead of unnecessary stuff like console?

It seems a bunch of yous misunderstood Sir HeisenbergFX4 HeisenbergFX4

He was saying, the comparison of Series S to PS5 Digital isn't completely valid, as most buying Series S would go for the $499 model. And they are better off buying the 1 TB memory card for $150, (or $50 more than the $100 bump for 1 TB model). Then they would end up with $1.5 TB storage IF they were wanting to buy a Series S with higher storage to begin with.

I personally still think Series S should've stopped production, unless they already had AMD contracts in place.

That ain't shit. I got my Series S (since sold it) for $149 via Verizon.
Technically, I only paid $35 for Series S, which was $239 Black Friday deal, IF you take into account the savings from doing the Essential (Live gold) to Ultimate conversion at the time. This was when it was 1:1 ratio for the conversion.

But that would make it $649. How would that help the comparison against a cheaper PS5DE? You're better off getting the actual 1TB Series S and not buying the proprietary card

You're getting an extra 500GB SSD space for $50 more.

Xbox is cooked
Its a shit console at its current price and in last place. But raise prices?
Might aswell fold and go third party for multitude of reasons

Sure you're getting some extra storage and that might be wise if you were just getting a Series S specifically but my question is how does that help the comparison to PS5DE become more fair?

"$599" for PS5DE vs "$649" for Series S with 0.5TB extra? I think that makes it worse than just 599 PS5DE vs 599 Series S 1TB version.

I'd rather just delete a game I don't play on slightly lower storage than have the potato machine, plus I'd even be paying more for the system in total with that storage. 🤷‍♂️

I meant buying the 500 gb Series S and putting the saved $100 from not buying the 1 tb Series S and buying a 1 tb expansion card for another $50 plus the original $100 saved

You're getting an extra 500GB SSD space for $50 more.
This is a stretch... people don't think like that. Especially not someone who is in the market for the cheapest series S to begin with. It doesn't even make sense...

At the end of the day, you are either buying a 512GB console or a 1TB one. Very few people would buy a 512GB console only to spend $150 later to end up with a 1.5TB console.

There is a reason the Xbox expansion cards aren't in the video game top 100 on Amazon. Hell, they aren't even in the Xbox-specific top 100. And you'll be shocked what's on that list......

Totally agree with you

My point was the whole the Series S is the same price as a digital PS5 is something a mouth breather like Jez would say because it sounds very stupid to just ignore the cheaper variant because it doesn't fit one's agenda

I think Jez would rather have the Series S be shown in a better light but it seems completely fair and in good faith to compare the 1TB Series S price to the PS5DE price that also comes with 1TB. It's a pretty like for like comparison. Except you're getting much worse hardware/performance on a Series S.

In terms of talking about ignoring a cheaper variant, I've seen worse. Like the $599 PS3 memes when there was always a $499 PS3 at launch that matched the 20GB of the 360 variant. It's not really a big deal. It's just trying to match a like for like comparison.

Again, how can they justify exclusives?
Easy, they know that they will sell the same amount of consoles at this extortionate price. They know that consoles are going to become hard to find near GTA6 release and people will be scrambling to pick up any old thing even at scalper-like prices like this. The sales of the xbox studio game doesn't get affected by this hike at all.

doing a quick Amazon search in my algo:

"xbox"

Xbox Series S $379

"ps5"

PlayStation 5 regular $649

cheapest disc based Series X I can find is Amazon Renewed for $699. I feel like anyone who picked up a disc based Series X at a discount is feeling pretty good right about now. It kinda became the console to have when you consider grabbing old Xbox discs at the flea market.
