Seriously. There are equal elements of awesome and hilarity in that shot, such that it's a pretty good encapsulation of what's great about Halo.

I had a MP match last night that had me giggling with delight so loudly my wife came to see if ever thing was okay. BTB - Slayer on Valhalla is turning into one of my favorite modes/maps ever. I used to hate slayer games, and I was burned out on that map after the beta, but hot damn does it play well with two good teams. Vehicular shenanigans, an intense battle line across the center, banshees careening about. Mmmm. Can't wait for the next batch of maps to expand the 16-player set.

Oh yeah - BTB was one of my bread-and-butter playlists in Halo 2, and I can't wait for it to get a Ranked playlist in H3... and yeah, sometimes just chilling on the battlefield and watching the chaos take place around you in whichever way you look, or having a Chopper growl as it boosts over your head on Sandtrap gives you quite a feeling... :)

I can't wait for ranked BTB. I don't play H3 a ton, but when I do I try to play Ranked, so I want BTB to be ranked soon. But yeah, Valhalla is awesome. If you want vehicular hilarity, Sandtrap is probably a better choice, but Valhalla offers more structure and control points. It's also the only map I'm consistantly good at sniping on.

BTW, does anyone else use the Sniper Rifle's default mode to find people? I think it's really useful, especially on High Ground when people are hiding near the beach. I sometimes get no-scope headshots using that view.
 
I haven't played the game online in a while, but where the FUCK is Team Snipers matchmaking? It's pretty much the only reason I played Halo 2, and I just assumed it was gonna be there in 3.
 
Definitely looking forward to ranked BTB. Most of my on-line friends are not on when I am on. So any team games I play turn into a frustrating streak of fail. If I go the less stressful route and play DLC games, then I get pwned by relentless vehicle whores.

I run into it on Team Slayer once a night or so.
 
snipers was drastically reduced since the game first shipped in team slayer. I think it is at a pretty good spot now where it happens every once and a while

The first forged map I made in foundry. And yes, I did make it before Lintendo's Great Wall, though it has some obvious similarities.

Vault

This is Vault, a foundry variant built from the ground up for highly tactical team-based action. Here's the situation. Terrorists have holed up in a bank after a robbery goes bad. An elite SWAT team is dispatched to clear all tangos and recover materials from the bank's vault. The front is heavily fortified with a machine-gun emplacement, tight corners, and the possibility of trip mines. A sniper team has been deployed to the top of a high-rise opposite the bank, but the terrorists have a sniper of their own on the bank's roof. The shipping entrance is less fortified, however, it is a less direct route which offers very little in the way of cover. There are two entrances to the basement, a main stairwell and a small maintenance entrance located to one side of the back of the ground-floor. The corridors are tight, so the use of flares is key. Grenades are in limited supply - two frags per person. Use them wisely and use them well. Good luck team.

I've played on Vault, and it's a GREAT map. Highy suggested.


The setup for tonight's expoits: Big Team Battle, Slayer, Valhalla. I respawned at the base and got taken out by a Ghost spawn camping. I am grumpy, and want revenge. I respawn back in the caves and return to the base, figuring the same guy will be there. He is, working on taking out our vehicles when I enter the scene.

The vault looks sweet, i'll definitely download it and take a look. I hope to post my map "Reactor Core" in a couple days. It's an homage to the old school Boarding Action level. However I've already glitched passed the budget, but now I'm bumping on the total item limit... I hope I can finish this map up cause I've invested too much time in it to quit now.

It's gone through a few iterations since you played it to make it a bit more balanced. Still, you guys kicked our butts assault and defense. :lol

It wouldn't surprise me if they did, actually. We know the maps are coming out in "spring", and most are guessing March/April. So they picked April 1 as a likely-sounding placeholder. Microsoft/Bungie have never given a date for any of map pack before the formal announcement before. They tend to announce the maps and date a couple weeks in advance, at most.

Those are placeholders or a guess - and they're not ours. I mean they're in the ballpark, but they're not the release date.
 
Grifball - [LTTP] Wow this is a fun concept. Turns out, the variant is pretty fun on other maps as well. Turning off vehicles (maybe leave some mongeese) and deleting turrets would probably help though.

Bohoo melee system and bad maps. Both can be fixed. And going into any playlist without a full team for that playlist is asking for trouble.

Your complaints would carry weight about the inconsistent melee or, for the most part, average maps, but you're whining about a guy not using a mic when you went into Double Team alone. Brilliance!
 
You know, I think these Halo 3 maps are over designed. In certain areas when I try to jump up to the next tier I get bounced away because of how the wall was designed.
