Just turned on my 360 and noticed that my emblem and colours had changed, and upon further inspection it appears my campaign info has mysteriously vanished so now I have to get all the skulls yet again and play through that horrible Cortana level that I said I would never play again. First time in 15+ years of gaming that I have ever had a corrupted save :(

Sorry to hear but it happens to EVERYONE at some point. It was a matter of time buddy...

Did anyone else think that Cortana and Halo were much easier on Legendary?

Yes. I started the game on "Heroic" as officially recommended by Bungie, but it sucked, so I went back and played-through on Normal, which was ok. Then went through a second time on Legendary, which turns out was really pretty easy. Not sure what happened on Heroic though... /shrug.

it's possible you weren't signed into Live. try again and make sure you are.

My emblem was screwed up for a minute or two when I signed in this evening. The system seemed frozen, but came back to life again when the emblem reverted to what it should be.

Also, I've been having a tonne of really annoying guide freezes and network errors since today's update. With Halo 3 at least, everything else is fine...

I was because I always log in at the dashboard before loading a game and after some laughter from my mates we did some online co-op afterwards to try and get some of my progress back so sadly that wasn't the problem. I'm missing bits of armour that are unlocked through picking up Skulls and a few others went missing as well that are from campaign completion. Strangely my old checkpoint from one of the later levels works but I can't select the mission itself from the menu.

Gives me a good excuse to play the campaign again but it is a bit annoying, hopefully it's not a sign of my 360 or hard drive failing again.

Same thing happened to me.

Two things I've had trouble with recently. Does anyone's helmet not load when they play a match? Sometimes I've noticed that the helmet I chose doesn't appear on my character, but in its place is the default one. Even when my character appears as the MVP it either has the default helmet or the one I originally chose.
Also, is this upcoming patch going to fix that armor that should have unlocked with the elite when you received certain achievements?

Click on the image above and view it at the largest size. See the face? Look closely. Still don't see it? Don't worry, you will and when you do it will be obvious.

Many people have used the Forge tool in Halo 3 to draw images or write messages. This is almost always done by lining up a bunch of objects on the ground, which are then viewed from above.

I wanted to approach this with a completely different technique. I was thinking that an image could be created if objects were placed in the foreground, middle ground and background and then viewed from a specific area that would converge the objects to make the image. If done correctly, the image would appear vertical and 3D as opposed to lying on the ground.

I decided to try this by doing a self portrait. The face would be made using facial shadows. The forge objects (vehicles, boxes, weapons, etc) would create those shadows. The sand environment would be the negative space between (the flesh of the face). It ended up working out pretty well. The tough thing was positioning the objects so that the face maintained the correct proportions. For example, the mouth is about 100 yards away from the eyes, but it looks proportionately correct. Once I had all the objects placed (which took a while) and had my viewing location marked, the objects converged together and made the image. The cool thing is that the image begins to break apart once the player starts moving in any direction. Also, the foreground, middle and background perspective technique makes it to where I could distort the image itself based on how I move. For fun, I viewed the face from a gravity lift and watched the face scrutch up and stretch out.

Another thing I tried to do when making this image, was to keep the objects as pure as possible. For example, my right eye is created by using a single Warthog. The back right tire just happens to look like a pupil, the body of the Warthog makes a nice shadow under the eyebrow. No other objects are paired with this vehicle to make the eye. Finally I wanted the overall illustration of the face to be at a perspective. You'll notice the face is slightly turned, and not looking at the camera pov.

Well, that's all. I should note that this dude ended up not looking that much like me. Anyway, hope you like it.

Yeah, I see nothing but junk in the sand.

Can someone trace it or describe it because my eyes just aren't doing it.
See the Brute Chopper in the middle of the objects? Pretend that is an eye, the warthog to the left of it is the other eye. Focus on those as the 'eyes' and it should sort of pop out at you.

I didn't see it at first, so I squinted a bit, and the image jumped right out.

Bunch of nubz! The podcast is available at the official bungie.net website. Where else?

Long has it been, friends! Vacations have come and went (for Brian and Frankie) and the crew finally reconvened with special guest Christopher Barrett to talk about Halo 3's Heroic Map Pack, how he started at Bungie, what he's worked on and what's been canned.

I'm so happy that I bypassed the "1 post per minute" rule.

It wasn't showing up for me on the front page until just now. Sounds like a good one.

Frank wrote the melee code at the end. :lol

"I had it so it was sweet so the winner always won and you were like, 'no.'"

:lol

Pretty fun podcast. The banter between Frankie and Luke is always entertaining, and the steady rotation of other folks in different disciplines has kept the feel of each show fresh. I had to laugh at the repeated attempts to get the conversation back on track, only for Christopher to derail it again. :lol
