Matchmaking is still fucked up... the social playlists at least. Keeps restarting the search, taking very long, etc.

I also went into a mp match right after and experienced no lag. happened on the big brute encouter on tsavo right after I blew up a phantom... anyone else seen this or know of a solution?

I've seen it. Co-op game yesterday was like a slideshow for me. Guys I was playing with didn't have any problems but for me it unplayable.

Tried single player and it was silky smooth again. Very annoying.
 
I keep seeing 500,000+ users logged online. Is this just people playing Halo 3 (all modes) or is it everyone logged on 360 at the moment?

I still don't quite like multiplayer...maps are TOO balanced...it's like there's no where to hide. I want areas where I can camp if I wish. Camping opponents bring on different strategies too so it would still be fun.

Same thing happened to me. I couldn't aim at anything it was so bad.

We must have encountered a weird glitch the first time we got the skull ButtonBasher, because even though I was the one to jump up and grab the skull it still gave Maize the achievement. *shrug* I don't know what happened when TGS did co-op. (I blame Frankie! :P)

Finally got the game today. It's awesome so far. Just have a quick question about the beginning (no spoilers past mission 2):

How did Johnson, Miranda, and the Arbiter get to Earth so quickly? Weren't they on Halo at the end of the last game?
 
All Skulls am get, was fun as hell actually (except IWBYD when I actually got it quit out of the game and realized I didnt hold onto it long enough for it to unlock ;[).

Now time to metascore it up and im at 1k woot.

Just got my mongoose kill, damn that achiement is so retarded, you can ram someone full speed into a wall and all you do is deplete their shields. I did it by playing KotH and just driving batshit insane XD

*edit* HOLY SHIT two for one on snowbound crazy hill, my score at the end was like 4 but damn thats not one I want to do again for a long time.

When I got it in the Beta, I remember Spawning by the beach on Highground, someone had the gravity lift facing diagonally on the door of the base. I drove into it, did flips back toward the beach (yelling into the mic WOOOOHOOOO) and then drove straight and when someone spawned I hit them way out into the water.

God I miss that saved film...

Frank said on the podcast he guest hosted (got a seperate thread, can't think of it right now) that they had 2.5 million unique users online in the first day. I'm sure it's gone up from there.

It's been like this for the past week, it takes about 20 seconds to get itno a rank game but nearly impossible for a social.
 
So I don't know if it was because I'm playing the game for the 2nd time or just the legendary difficulty but at the beginning the sarge says "they must love the smell of Bulgari, yea I gotta get payed too" instead of "they must love the smell of heroes" in the first level. Pretty cool :lol I wonder if it stays this way throughout.
 
Quick Q: Can you get skulls in co-op? Thinking of doing a skull run with a friend and then trying out the harder little game-types Luke posted on Bungie.net. Might do another Legendary run and try to get the score achievements. I usually don't replay games but Halo 3 is pretty short and co-op is a lot of fun =)

Also, do you have to finish the level to get the skull or can you quit out once you get it?

I really can't wait to see what's different with the IWHBYD skull turned on, for TGS's Terminal Run.

Co-op: yes; Quit after; I think so

Yeah, you can get them in co-op and you don't have to finish the level with the skull. Once you pick it up everyone gets it in your group and then you can drop it. There have been some problems with the IWDYB skull.

as in the skull is ridiculous to get, even when you know the correct things to do

i think it took a full ten minutes to do it, after everything you had to do to get to that part

not sure about other skulls, but with that one you cant start the mission from a checkpoint
 
Out of curiosity, how do you guys take down the two Scarabs on legendary? After several failed approaches I eventually used the tank to blast the ass off one of them and hit its core using that method, took out all the Ghosts, assorted bastards running around on the remaining Scarab using the tank, then used a Hornet to board and finish off the other one, and even that took some time and alot of luck.
 
Alright, thanks guys. Forgot, I gotta do the Terminals on that run too! Hm. Maybe I shouldn't make it ultra-hard and concentrate on score more. We'll see.

I haven't played the game single-player yet except the first level. But for the scarabs we just had my friends either using rocket turrets or tanks to shoot the scarab while I followed it on foot shooting the guys in the back manually. As soon as it went down, I'd jump on, get to the controls and shoot it a bunch of time, stick it for good measure, and gtfo.

It feels pretty awesome to work together like that on those. Wish I could record it.
 
I just tried playing and got a "Disc Unplayable" error on my brand new Elite. I tried multiple other games and they all worked fine. Anyone know whats up with this? I tried unplugging my HD, no luck.

Will getting another copy of the game remedy this?
 
I would like to re-iterate how much I absolutely fucking hate the achievements being linked to free for all. Ironically it was probably done to avoid friends grouping together to do it, but now in half of the Lone Wolves lobbies I'm in everyone beforehand is trying to band together to do it, which winds up just pissing off the one dude who wants to play seriously and then is a dick and ruins it. I managed to get the sword triple kill and the mongoose splatter achievement this way, but was screwed out of the laser double kill and overkill achievements due to one dude being an asshole both times -_-. I don't want the achievement points, I just want the fucking armors, shit. Even when (and if) I get these achievements I will continue to bitch about this forever, it's so retarded. At least don't tie it to in-game shit.

Also buttonbasher send me a friends invite, I swore I had you on my list, but I went to recommend you a video and you weren't on there :(. Unless your Live name has changed.

The ones who want to band together use the asian tag. I got mine all today doing it :) Works great! Try it :D
 
Shotty snipers still sucks balls. I can't aim worth shit, so I'm pretty much screwed when it comes to a map like Valhalla (where it might as well just be called "snipers"). If that's the problem, shotguns should be no issue right? Well, apparently I can hit someone at point blank range, see the "sizzle" of their shield so I know it registered, and they can shoot me a split second later and take me down in one hit. Yeah, I know, "headshots" or whatever, but I swear I've aimed for the head as much as I can and at point blank range it really shouldn't even matter.
