The next best thing would be able to load/skip a campaign saved film from and to one of the 3 major points each level has.

That would be a good start yeah. The big one though is the ability to make clips in campaign. It seems like it would be easier than campaign rewinding... maybe its just a size issue.

I have an external capture device but it wont capture in 60Hz (PAL60) which, unfortunitely, Halo 3 requires my output to be to run on my UK TV (as far as im aware). PLease feel free to correct my ignorance though :D

I wouldnt mind the ability to create clips of campaign too if thats not too much to ask Bungie ;) Peeeeeeeeaaaase?

Guess you just have to buy a new cap card. I remember on the latest Bungie podcast they mentioned that were going to a section on cap cards and put it on Bnet.

Ya huh that was a great show... so have they confirmed no podcast this week. or are we just (correctly) assuming?
Last podcast they said no to expect one in the normal timeframe cause they'd be pretty busy with launch stuff and the aftermath of that.

I hope Bungie can patch in a system that allows you to at least skip to certain parts of campaign. The loading zone thing doesn't make perfect sense to me, as you can hit another loading zone, die, and be teleported back to the last.

Even if it's more complex than that, I don't understand why you can't browse around a loading zone and rewind through that at will.

But when you have an hour long film and want to skip to a part at the end, it's painfully slow.

Likewise, having to restart a film from the beginning to view something from a different angle ain't so good.

Me too. Got checkerboard the day Halo 3 came out, but managed to get it going long enough to play through the game and get some MP in. Couple of days later, RROD!

I have a question: Is anyone else experiencing as many assholes on matchmaking as I am? I've heard new lows. Some guy tonight was ragging on me because I have a college degree. Since when is that bad? Oh, and it wasn't even on a ranked match. It was social (shotty snipers, can you believe that?)

And the reason he knows you have a college degree?

Let me guess?

You: Fuck off redneck go to college and get a degree like me.

Who's the asshole now, idot?

so here's what I got done so far.

-Beat the game on legendary
-Got all of the skulls
-Finish Campaign Scoring

I still have some MP achievements to get, then I'm at 1000/1000 baby!

Good luck with those...hard ones to get:
Steppin Razor
Mongoose Mowdown
Maybe Next Time Buddy
Overkill

Enjoy :)

The real question is: Does it stay there when you re-open the saved Forge map? Anyone care to test this?

I doubt it does, just based on how the maps are saved. But yeah, someone should test. Could be wrong!

Can't wait for a matchmaking update where there is either more than one ranked free for all playlist or there's more than 5 players in Lone Wolves.

Those overkill and steppin' razor achievements take a lot more luck than they do skill!

I haven't got them (haven't tried, all I wanted to get was Killing Frenzy), but I would think you'd be likely to get them in the occasional objective games. Wait for everyone to charge for the oddball or hill and jump in as their shields go down a bit.

I have no idea how you would get Mongoose Mowdown apart from by accident, but maybe that's the point? Lots of the fun in Halo multiplayer is from the moments of craziness.

Mongoose Mowdown I lucked out on an Isolation match and the guy wasn't paying attention.

Yeah objective definitely is the time to try and get these. Thats how I got my Spartan Laster Two For One achievement last night. Oddball on Construct and got lucky. I'm down to Steppin' Razor, have to hope for lots of Pit and Construct games.

I got it by asking dudes in the pregame lobby if they want to help each other get the Mongoose achievement. But don't tell anybody I said that. :D

Uh, am I the only one who haven't figured out how to rewind yet, besides using the 10-seconds-at-a-time fuction?

yeah, out of the whole game this is really my only complaint (which isn't that bad)

if the left trigger acted as the right but in reverse it would be golden.

(thrust should just be wired into the left anolog stick the further you push it the faster you go , instead of needing the left trigger for it)

I'm having a bit of trouble getting the meta game scores. I saw it posted last night what the easiest way to do this was, but I can't seem to find it now. Something about leaving the game on normal and turning on 5 or 6 specific skulls. Can anyone recount this wisdom to me so I can get those achievements out of the way?

Honestly I know it is not a video...and the technicality of the playback system is probably beyond me...but it seems that it would not be too hard to implement.

Turn on: Catch, Tough Luck, Fog and Famine...also for more fun Grunt Birthday Party and Cowbell :)

Steppin Razor

is this a William Gibson or an Underworld reference?
Frankie? I guess even if it`s an Underworld reference, it`s still a william Gibson reference, but still...

Who is the spoonman at bungie?

Thanks a lot. I've played a few co-op stages with Grunt B-Day Party on and it turned into 3 grown men giggling every couple of seconds when we got head shots.

1) Heroic if you're by yourself, Legendary if you're with a partner (no more than three should play).

2) Turn on Tough Luck, Famine, Fog and Mythic.

3) Add Catch on levels against the Flood or vehicle-heavy levels.

4) Grab a vehicle and use the onboard friendly-AI to wrack up kills. Offer them any rocket launchers or fuel-rod guns you have before they run completely out of ammo (they won't run out of ammo while they're in the hands of an AI) and take your time moving through the vehicle/turret heavy areas. This works very well on
Tsavo, Storm, Ark and Covenant
and on any vehicle which carries a passenger.

When ever there are 10 or more grunts and 3 or more players...it really is a party :)

Played co-op legendary over Live last night (controls were pretty floaty but I could deal with it). We got half way through Tsavo Highway when someone lost their connection, which kicked us all from the game. So I started it back up from the second checkpoint (which was before the part that we lost the connection at), and we finished up. But it doesn't show as being completed on legendary.

So, this is how it's got to be? You need to play the entire level all the way though at once and just pray no one loses their connection?

Got a nice screenshot out of Crow's Nest though, sucks to be this guy:

Yeah luckily it doesnt happen very often. I haven't been disconnected from anything (campaign or multi) yet.

So after beating Halo 3 last night I played my first multiplayer for a few hours with some of the GAF Madden crew. Already I think I may be playing the game too much as Halo 3 has now overtaken my dreams. Only got about 5 hours of sleep before having to come into work this morning and what little sleep I did get was dominated by a dream....a dream that involved me and 3 friends playing 4-player co-operative.......Guitar Halo 3. :lol

In the dream, we were arguing over who got which controller. I ended up settling for the Battle Rifle Bass and my one friend got the Guitar Shotgun. Neither of us wanted the Artillery Drum. So we went through Tsavo Highway to the tune of Lenny Kravitz's "Rock and Roll is Dead." The instruments were like Guitar Hero but with scopes on the fretboard and a trigger on the body/neck. The gameplay was kinda like Moonwalker where we played bitchin' guitar solos and made the Brutes drop their weapons and then shot them up while the drummer annihilated them with cannon fire.....

...so, yea. Maybe I shouldn't play so much Halo in one sitting and eat right before going to sleep.

To get into achievement matches:
1. At the dashboard, go to the furthest tab on the right and select console settings.
2. Go down to Language and select the last Asian language.
3. Start Halo 3 and go to Matchmaking (3rd option from very top one).
4. Go to Ranked -> Lone Wolves.
5. Hit X and select 4th option.
6. Start matchmaking
(before the match begins, mention what achievements you need)

NOTES:
- most likely, you will not be paired with people on your friends list
- the achievements will appear as that Asian laguage on your console (everyone else will see it as English)

To change the achievements back into English:
1. Make sure language is back into English.
A. Go to the tab furthest on the right and select the first option.
B. Go down to the fourth option and hit A.
2. Sign out.
3. Select recover gamertag.
4. Enter all the info and accept.

Lmao, it actually works. I'm in a game now with people trying to get their achievements.

I'm having a problem with spawning points in Forge, hoping somebody can help me.

Starting with a blank canvas, say I add 6-8 spawn points. When I play the map in customs, I get spawned somewhere where I didn't lay a spawn point. And in some Forge maps, spawning in the wrong place can break the intended game. This has happened on Last Resort and Sandtrap. What am I doing wrong?

Are you making sure all the spawn points are deleted before you start adding yours? (Even on the canvases) I had a problem with my Helm's Deep map where defenders were spawning at the offensive side and I couldn't figure out what was going on either, but then I checked around and it turned out the "canvas" wasn't clean. (There were some in the water)

The canvas is definitely clean, I even went back into Forge to check out the place where I spawned and there was no spawn point there. In Tyson's article he talked about how the game requires certain things to be there, so this is one of those cases where my map isn't fitting some requirement or something so the game forces spawn points...
