Anyone up for playing some co op tonight? I beat the game last night and want to go back through on higher difficulties, join me!

Gamertag = Thaedolus

I'll probably be on anytime after 4 PM MDT. Homework is done for tomorrow and I'm going out with my girl tomorrow night. Tonight = HALO 3!

EDIT

I just applied for membership in the bungie.net group too...

The canvas is definitely clean, I even went back into Forge to check out the place where I spawned and there was no spawn point there. In Tyson's article he talked about how the game requires certain things to be there, so this is one of those cases where my map isn't fitting some requirement or something so the game forces spawn points...

Hmm... Are you editing in one gametype in the map and playing in another? If it's not that, I can think of what it would be.

A similar thing happeend to me, I just added more spawn points and that seemed to fix the problem.

I'll try both of these things tonight. Thanks!

Doesn't recovering your GT fubar all your saves (or something like that)?
Nope, I do it all the time when I want to play on my brother's 360.

Recovering back to the old 360 caused no problems with the saves that were there before the GT recovery.

On the bungie.net stats page where it lists all your kills by weapon, I have 17 under "?" and when highlighted it says: "Guardians, Killed, once again, by the guardians"

WTF?
That means you were playing on the Guardian level and your opponent fell off. Since you caused some damage to him in the process, it counts it as your kill, under "Guardian".

How did he get his helmet to be blue with his entire body being grey ?
His helmet is dark grey like the rest of his armour, it's just the blue bolt effects of the sniper shot giving that false impression. :)

It means you were playing on any map and this happened. It's not exclusive to Guardian or falling off the map - it includes turrets on Snowbound, land mines on Sandtrap, falling off of Construct, etc...

Lmao, it actually works. I'm in a game now with people trying to get their achievements.
Can i get a follow up on this? What is actually happening. You're getting paired with people who only use this setting to get achievments? And what happens can you not talk during the game at all? Because there are some hard achievements to get like the 2 for 1 red laser...

So basically everyone who does this is down for doing all achievements?

Yeah, we talked at the lobby and I have to say it was real awkward. Some people were speaking Japanese and they still understood it was a boosting match. Everyone would just meet up in the center of the map and get their achievements. It was really casual and no one was a douche or anything. I'm glad I got those out of the way. I can just see the screaming 12 year olds doing this next and fuckin' it up for everyone.

Correct. And it only works for multiplayer saved films. Campaign is a no go. Pressing the back button after a spectacular snipe or explosion for an instant replay blows my mind every time! All i need now is a way to get my saved films from 360 to PC and im golden....
Wait, wait, wait... INSTANT REPLAY? I've seen the Press <- to activate but every time I press or hold it I only get the scoreboard displayed. I had no idea what the hell it was all about. What am I doing wrong? :(

edit: What's this thing about achievement games? Changing your language and all that.

And Warthog mini-game? What the hell? How do I access that?

Also I got the Bulltrue medal earlier. A freakin' bull appeared in the medal and I was all 'what the hell is that'.

Played the first level through on Legendary. This game is so much fun, it gets even better as you turn up the difficulty!

I had a couple of gold skulls turned on, Fog and the skull that upgrades all the enemies. Plus three silver ones (not blind) and after 61 minutes of playing I came out with a 22.5k score.

Hitting the grunts in the head and watching them explode into confetti never gets old.

Okay, so the end of Halo3.....

I watched the end cutscene with the ship driving away. I thought Master Chief made it out sitting in the back of the shuttle! I don't understand how he died? And what was the 117 scratched into the ship. Is that his Spartan number? I think he's totally alive! Just like they do in movies, they don't show his death so they can bring him back in Halo4!

THIS SUCKS. I accidentally pressed the a button to get rid of the thank you screen! I knew IT! I KNEW I'D MISS SOMETHING.

And now my save point is gone and it wants me to start a new solo campaign. Is there a way to play the last level alone? Either that or I'm going to youtube.

Most of my friends (who aren't obsessive as I am) didn't watch past the credits and thought the ending was stupid. I would have agreed, but I always watch past the credits.

On legendary? You're a jokester, aren't ya.

Beat the game on legendary to see extended scene after the credits. From what I hear if you beat it on anything but lengendary you don't get the last few seconds of the final scene after the credits.

Does it really have to be on legendary? None of the youtube videos have anything going on after the credits.

No, you can see the main awesome 3 or 4 minute cutscene on ANY difficulty after the credits, but if you beat the last level on Legendary, you get an extra 45 or so seconds of more cool stuff.

IMHO best cutscene(s) of the whole game.

Asked a question about social playlists not finding any games. (though ranked works perfectly fine). I'm hoping it's the server load but I find it odd that some of my friends can get into socials just fine while I just get timed out after 15 min of waiting. (XBL Open too)
Speaking of playlists questions, it would be nice to know how often the playlists will be updated and if they'll have a playlist for wacky custom games people have created.

One question I had with the ending:

The ship came back to Earth in half. Why didn't the Arbiter tell them that the portal closed as the ship was going through? Maybe then they could initiate a search campaign wherever the portal was for the other half to try and retrieve MC's remains (shock, horror to them that he's just asleep!)? Is the Arbiter really just that much of a dick that he didn't want to tell them so MC was stuck out there all this time? Maybe he wants MC out of the way so he can wipe-out the human race without their saviour getting in his way?

Besides that I have to play through the whole game again and try and listen real close to all the dialogue to pick up anything I missed, which is going to be a pain considering I could never hear the shit they were saying on my system...

Rewind is left on the d-pad, not the back button.
When you die in a multi-player match it says "Press <- to activate", which I took to be an instant replay function after someone else's post in this thread.

I had a couple of match that people just killed everyone, but the last one, where I got most of my achievements, everyone was pretty cool.

I'm just missing the campaign scoring achievements right now!

So after beating Halo 3 last night I played my first multiplayer for a few hours with some of the GAF Madden crew. Already I think I may be playing the game too much as Halo 3 has now overtaken my dreams. Only got about 5 hours of sleep before having to come into work this morning and what little sleep I did get was dominated by a dream....a dream that involved me and 3 friends playing 4-player co-operative.......Guitar Halo 3. :lol

In the dream, we were arguing over who got which controller. I ended up settling for the Battle Rifle Bass and my one friend got the Guitar Shotgun. Neither of us wanted the Artillery Drum. So we went through Tsavo Highway to the tune of Lenny Kravitz's "Rock and Roll is Dead." The instruments were like Guitar Hero but with scopes on the fretboard and a trigger on the body/neck. The gameplay was kinda like Moonwalker where we played bitchin' guitar solos and made the Brutes drop their weapons and then shot them up while the drummer annihilated them with cannon fire.....

...so, yea. Maybe I shouldn't play so much Halo in one sitting and eat right before going to sleep.
:lol
I think you invented the greatest game ever.

Did matchmaking take a while? I've been waiting for a while but I'm already a level 29. :(

I'm a headshot person myself. I've played 32 games and have 33 headshots,

Yes, my game count is low. I've been busy with exams and I have not a lot of time to dedicate to Halo 3. This weekend I'm going to play the hell out of it though.

Are you counting headshots by checking each game in your history or is there a total I can check?

tak said:
Have you tried switching the matchmaking priority? In the lobby you can select if you want games with better connections, closer ranks, etc...

Yeah, I'm getting into games now thanks. Got steppin' razor, triple and overkill so far. Some guys are fucking up these games though. One guy wouldn't drop the spartan laser.

so Halo DS is an actual game? i just saw some video on mlg site but dont know if its real.
It was an unauthorized project that was very early, never approved and has since been shelved, never to see the light of day. At least, that's the current status. Now that Bungie is moving to a DS-only studio, who knows.

One question I had with the ending:

The ship came back to Earth in half. Why didn't the Arbiter tell them that the portal closed as the ship was going through?

The Arbiter didn't need to tell anyone the hole collapsed. It was a few kilometers above the surface of the Earth. Everyone saw it collapse when the Arbiter returned. It wasn't a secret.

Maybe then they could initiate a search campaign wherever the portal was for the other half to try and retrieve MC's remains (shock, horror to them that he's just asleep!)?

On the other end of the portal was a firing Halo located somewhere outside the galaxy's rim, substantially further than anyone on Earth had ever traveled. If they did spend the money and time to do a search, they could spend hundreds of decades and turn up with nothing because of the Halo weapon's blast. It wouldn't make sense to conduct any searches at all. As far as they know, the Chief died amid the blast of the Halo when the ship was severed as the portal collapsed.

Is the Arbiter really just that much of a dick that he didn't want to tell them so MC was stuck out there all this time? Maybe he wants MC out of the way so he can wipe-out the human race without their saviour getting in his way?

The Arbiter believes the Chief to be dead as does the rest of humanity. The Chief didn't die, however, but the portal sent him somewhere else, presumably inside our galaxy. The Halo ring's firing couldn't be sustained and blew apart, destroying the Ark and itself, wiping out the Flood. At the very end of the game, beyond the cinematic showing the Chief's survival, is a brief one (only appearing on Legendary) which shows the severed ship with the Chief aboard is heading to some sort of populated world with faint architecture that appeared Forerunner.
