Ok i see what people mean about shotty snipers in TS, having it appear 80% of the time is a bit much :p

Having to play it so often has also made me slightly annoyed with the shotgun, sometimes it is just so random. Time after time i have hit people from close range, only to see them survive and 1-hit me, or i have hit someone multiple times with no result, only to again see them take me out with less shots.

It isn't just hosts because its happened with various people in the same match. Maybe i'm just lagging, but everything else work fine.

Oh well :D

The same thing happened to me with beatdowns. Often, I would hit the button, but the other guy would kill me even though I'm full shield.

I guess it just depends.

Is there any chance that Bungie will allow Scarabs in Forge?

Specifically I want to replace the Elephant/Behemoth with 2 drivable scarabs for lots of pirate fun. You win by destroying the other teams Scarab. Of course the Scarab itself wouldn't fire, but you still have the turrets and manuevering close to allow your teammates to climb aboard the other scarab.

I really want this to happen, but I know deep down it probably won't. :(
Something just occured to me. Does the Elephant even appear in Campaign? I don't recall seeing it. I had assumed it was there because usually MP content is pulled from Campaign.

does anyone know how to Melee kill in 1 hit? I constantly get hit once and die, despite having full health, yet when I melee someone it takes at least a few bullets or a second melee before they die.

I don't think so Tim.

I think we need a petition to put a modified (non-AI) Scarab into Forge.

Anyone else agree?

Any chance of this happening Stinkles/Lukems?

Have it as AI and 1 FLAG CTF!, or a cooler, more interaction version of 1 bomb (defend/attack the scarab and its weakpoint, etc)

At level 8 on Legendary, been waiting to play it on this difficulty. The enemies just keep on coming.

That level wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for those flood turret things. I disdain whoever decided to add them as a flood enemy.

No, I haven't seen it.

Pretty impressive in a losing effort. You don't like the sniper rifle, eh?

Not good with it, although I did get a couple of no-scope kills in that match. Getting better with the shotty, though.

Ars Technica posted the second half of their Halo 3 review, focusing on multiplayer. I'm still reading it, but what's interesting is he's including Campaign co-op in the category. The Campaign review (it scored a 7) was for one player, on Normal, only. Harder difficulties and co-op were saved for the MP review. I'm not a fan of splitting up reviews like this, but it's one of the stranger splits I've seen so far. Makes the 7 score make a bit more sense; he basically got it out in time for launch, based on the one day he had to review. (MP scored a 10, Halo 3 overall a 9.)

It's a pretty douchey way to do reviews, frankly. Saving the good half for well after launch of the game, but delivering the bad half up front seems a little screwy. But hey, who pays attention to Ars Technica game reviews anyway?

By the way, will they do this with all games? So the first Mass Effect review will be a 10 and the second a 0? Warhawk a 0/10? Darkness a 2/7? It's a stupid way to do reviews.

Punch them in the back.

It's not that bad of a way to do things. Maybe they wanted more time to accurately play the game in a live environment with people online? Also, if people are to be believed, single player on normal is how most people will actually play this game. So, you get that out first since it's the easiest to do and the way most people will play the game.

Not that I believe most people who claim people buy Halo for single player only...but there you go.

FORGE question...

i've spent literally hours building a custom game type (infection based) and map for high ground. problem is, the gate is wide open by default when i start the custom match despite being shut by default in forge. PLEASE tell me there is a way to change the map in customs to have the gate be shut, or else my game mode seriously will suck :(

Not sure, but you can stack some crates at the entrance to barricade it, if you want.

i'm REALLY trying to avoid that as staking crates in forge kinda sucks (just placing them is a chore what with how they all interact and bump as you lay them out, but players can also knock them over if they arent staked properly in game). its gotta be an option, right?

also, i wish there were an attribute you could assign objects to have them float. i know you can stack things and put them on top then remove stuff underneath, but thats a huge chore, and problematic on uneven ground anyway

Out of curiosity, has anyone here met up with any Bungie/Certain Affinity people in matchmaking?

Last night, I ended up playing a Big Team CTF game with Shiska on Valhalla. It was like playing with a Halo nerd celebrity or something.

http://www.bungie.net/Stats/GameStatsHalo3.aspx?gameid=21204887&player=Confushious
Played with Ninja 0n Fire a.k.a. Jeremiah (the guy who set up the H2 playlists) once in Team Slayer at Midship. Horribly laggy game. His team talked shit. At the end of the game, the first thing he says is "Do you know who I am?" I have a lot of disdain for Internet celebrities.

Yea that's my biggest complaint about the MP. Sometimes I'll unload into somebody, maybe evne melee em after that, and they'll fire at me a few times (no headshots) and melee and I'm down.

so last night i i spent almost 3 hours creating a forge map/gametype that i think is really well done

i should finish up with it tonight, and id love to get feedback good and bad regarding it

also working on 4 other gametypes/maps as well as using this same premise on 2 other maps

I wonder if the asymmetric/symmetric gametype property governs if the door is open or not.

File Share Slot 1 if anyone's interested.

Nice.

Here's my best stick:

where is that option? i'll try it out.

EDIT: not seeing it....

YES! I did it. I just finished up the Campaign on Legendary, by myself. I'm so happy right now. It just 'clicked' for me today, the Flood didn't even stand a chance. Well...I guess the did stand a little chance. After all I did die a few times. :lol

Btw - Here's a nice little tip I discovered while playing today: Use the Needler against the shooting Flood transformers. It works extremely well. It saved my ass more times than I can count.

I don't think its something you can change. Like one-flag CTF is inherently asymmetrical or team slayer is symmetrical. Sorry.

From the Forge How-To:
Symmetry: This cryptic option controls which types of games the object appears in. A Symmetric gametype is generally one where both sides are equals, like Slayer or Multi Flag CTF. An Asymmetric gametype is the opposite, where the sides have different goals, like One Flag CTF or Territories. Clever use of this property will let you set up a map that plays great for Multi Flag CTF, but also works well for One Flag CTF.

thats seriously sucks... you'd think that would be on by default for infection games

Hey guys---I just beat Halo3. I'm confused---How did I do it so quickly?

I bought the game last Monday at midnight, and I beat it just now. How is this possible? ONE week! Maybe I'm better at FPS's than I think? I played the game on NORMAL, and I'm usually just atrocious at FPS games. I never played Halo 1 or 2.

I loved the experience, the music was amazing. I think my FPS skills are a lot better now. All I needed was Halo3.

I just finished Halo 3 on legendary. All by myself. First I beat it on normal, then heroic, and now legendary. Within a week:lol.

Well, supposedly Normal was "dumbed down" for the masses this go-round. Dunno if it's true but most vets were advised to start on Heroic at the very least according to some reviews.

gotta love Brits. I accidentally blew up one of my own in a rocket launcher attack. His thoughts? "That was really quite unnecessary."

Sometimes I'm just embarrassed by my people.

Level 8 was very, very hard on Legendary, it made level 9 feel like a cakewalk, really. What you need are dual plasmas, they'll deal with the annoying Flood. And use the Carbine for the turret things. Or the Brute Shot, or grenade, when you can spare those.

Always be on guard for enemies before you
save Cortana
. After that, you can and will have to rush, but before that, be careful and take out the enemies with whatever weapons you can find.

Also, don't forget to pick up and use cloak. You will really love Cloak when you have to
destroy the power cores just after you saved Cortana and when you have to rush back to the ship
.

And yes, those turret Flood things are the toughest enemies in Halo 3, no doubt about that. They shoot fast, hide at annoying spots, and your non-explosive bullets won't always hit since the turrets can cover.

During the Beta, I complained about things like misaligned textures and the overall shitty looking Pelican in Valhalla. I kinda thought this wouldn't be fixed due to their being bigger priorities, but to my surprise Bungie went back and polished the hell out of the Beta maps. Excellent attention to detail, Bungie!

So I'm hearing that there are a lot of people using maulers more than other weapons on the higher skill levels. Any truth to that?
