hey guys anyone want to help me out with my game mode.

Needs balance and tweaks.

Basically its a DDay Beach Storm level for Halo (like every WW shooter)

It uses the Last Resort front beach section on teritorys.

Attacking team starts on beach and has to make it up to the wall and clam it.

Defendes start at the wall have turrets and big guns.

Plenty of cover in the sea with crates etc..

Its in my file share here

http://www.bungie.net/stats/Halo3/FileShare.aspx?gamertag=Gowans007

Need to just get plenty of people to play and balance ect.. and edit the game type for maxium fun :D

Send me a FR and ill invite you in.

That is so cool man, just been messing about on it with a few people. Would love to help out later, my GT is Cuckooo.

I always check other people's profiles on Xbox Live, and 75% of the guys I meet online are playing the campaign at Normal difficulty. They're missing out on so much.

I played the first level on Heroic solo. Although I eventually beat it, I thought it was pretty tough. Those jackal snipers are a bitch. I'm planning on playing it on normal the rest of the way. How much am I missing by playing it on normal?

You're going to be missing a fair amount of encounters and a Covenant AI that is actually challenging. You can walk through Normal like water.

Some of us are testing and helping Gowans Storm The Beach and this is my first with co-op forge and customs and it's so cool. It's such a smooth experience, you could say it's "next-gen".

The map that Gowans is working on is so freaking awesome. We have been tweaking it for about two hours now, and it is turning out to be some awesome shit.

I don't know why this is happening, but I've been getting motion sickness with Halo 3, and I haven't experienced this type of situation with any FPS's (including Halo 2) in quite a while. After playing for about 20 minutes, I develop a headache and my eyes get drowsy. If I continue to play more, I start to get nausous. Anyone got any recommendations for me or any tweaks to the game setting to help reduce it?

You invited me into the game and I was expecting a regular game and all of a sudden I'm in Saving Private Ryan and the first second a rocket whizzes by me in the water. Water splashing up from the machine guns, crates everywhere.

I think Normal is fine for a first play through - you get a chance to enjoy the environments & atmosphere. I'll play through again on Heroic later.

Might be old news, but if you're having trouble getting Marathon Man
make sure you've read both versions of the final terminal on Halo. It has a different message on Legendary.

Just finishing reading the Terminal text online (It's hard to do it in game on Co-op)

D (Didact) is mentioned in Array_Recorder_Index.txt from Server 01:

http://halo.wikibruce.com/Array_Recorder_Data.txt (D-Com)

Also from the last one on Legendary:
But I want something far different from you, Reclaimer.

Atonement.

Compare that to the Third transmission from Iris:

Now there's a lesson to spend a millennium lingering on,
Waiting for a redemptive hand to turn the keys.
Leading to the symbiotic relationship which benefits both our futures.

I Will guide your movements, and you will lead me to atonement.

Fairly sure that this means AdjutantReflex is Mendicant Bias, and New AR would be Offensive Bias. It would fit with the way of speech.

I think I'm beginning to understand things.

Wait, you need both? Like I couldn't just do it on Legendary?

I honestly wasn't epecting the Forge to be anything major, just another map editior HO HUM, but hot damn Gowans map fucking owns, a bit more tweaking and it should be perfectly balanced on both sides...

how do i download thsi map?

I started playing the MP a bit and it's not really that fun just going into random stuff, and I don't even ahve the chance to play custom games because my friends don't want to. So add me to your friends list or throw me an invite GAF, tag's Doytch. :D

Also, I don't get the ending:
When the Halo blows up the Ark, what happened to the rest of the Flood in the actual galaxy? I guess they lost their gravemind, but wouldn't they just revert to an earliar state and build up another gravemind eventually? Why is everything so perfect all of a sudden?

Except OB defeated MB before the Halos fired, which is 1000s of years ago. I think old AR was just an AI in the Ark portal on Earth, & new AR is MB.

Well that worked for me, and I read people were having trouble with it.
The terminal is right near the start of the level so its easy to do again.

Sorry I had to ignore your invite Gowans, I was in a ranked match and couldn't leave.

But, like, I'm totally into seeing your map. I'll hop on later, k?

So AR led us (the Iris players) and New AR was the monitor that didn't help us.

I could see that.

Hey Gowans. Sorry I didn't accept your invite. I was just curious about the idea of using One Bomb instead of territories on your map type?

To unlock legendary game complete achievement, do I have to play game from start to finish or I can play each campaign in legendary difficulty out of order and still get it?

Out of order should work. Just make sure to get Arrival.

Compared to heroic, legendary is quite a bitch. Shield goes down quicker, enemies shoot and respond faster, snipers are a lot tougher etc. You really have to make good use of things like the Bubble Shield and so to advance.

And yeah, level 8:
Cortana
, is probably the hardest level in the game. The amount of enemies you have to fight, and the lack of bullets like a lot of the time make it a tough one. Just make sure you have dual plasma.

probably the motion blur.

I would love to try out Gowans map seeing as how I've made a similar map (thought based on Assault) in Helm's Deep. Perhaps I could pick up some pointers.

Edit: Cuz they're fun to fight Y2Kev, and their functionality isn't covered by the Brutes. :D

Gowans here's some input from me on the Storm The Beach variant.

I think it needs to be a bit harder for the defenders, maybe (some of) the following will do.
-Maybe this also works with 1 flag CTF?
-Fixed grav lifts (is this possible?) at a couple of places
-Maybe make it little more complex by having 2, 3 or 4 territories at very open spots (preferably in direct line of sight of the turrets). The capture time would of course be rather long. This would also spread the attention of the defenders

Here are some pics!

Wana see If I can get the crates to stay put with n respawns and disapearing.

AMAZING PICS

I wish I had actually got to play it with you guys. I joined in near the end of your guys' last match and all I could see was chaos. Oh, and lots of crates in the water. :lol Looked awesome, though. I'll have to try it out next time you guys do it.

Anxiety- (Download)

Anxiety is a Single VIP Escort based gametype in which the focus is on extreme tension for the VIP. Features are as follows:

General Rules:
-3 minute rounds with 5 escort points to win. 4 rounds in total, so ties are possible. If the VIP dies, the round ends.
-No weapons on map. Every player has infinite ammo.

Non-VIP Traits:
-Everyone is invisible and has a motion detector set on enchanced with the maxed range.
-Sniper rifles are your only weapon.
-Players are slowed and gravity increased slightly.

VIP Traits:
-No shields and 10% damage endurance ensure that any hit is fatal for the VIP.
-VIP has a waypoint over his/herself visible to everyone. (It should also be noted that the VIP doesn't benefit from the same invisibility everyone else has)
-The VIP carries only an energy sword, both for its uselessness against snipers and its distinctive glow, drawing even more attention to the VIP.
-The VIP has no motion tracker whatsoever, he must rely on communication with his team.
-What's the VIP's one advantage? Speed. The VIP has maxed speed and extremely low gravity. The rule is flight, not fight. (Just testing it out, I was able to reach all 5 escort points on Valhalla in under a minute and 30. The time limit is set at 3, so the VIP's only worry should be enemy interference.)

As always, both negative and positive feedback is welcomed. I haven't designed a map around this time around, but I would strongly suggest it be played on Valhalla and Sandtrap. The VIP is almost difficult to control in confined spaces and sniping is hampered elsewhere. (I think I saw a Valhalla variant where someone had fusion coils constantly spawn out of the sky- that would be a natural fit for this if you have it.)

While I've liked the concept of all my other ideas, I still have yet to ascertain whether they actually PLAY well. In that respect, I feel more confident about this gametype than I do the others.

Here's my newest creation. Not Forge, just a custom game. It's already been posted in GDJustin's thread as well. (Gowans, you could go add your Storm the Beach writeup in there if you wanted to. We're trying to make it the one-stop shop for all your GAF variant needs, but it was sentenced to the Online/Matchup forum. :( )

Anyone feel like going through the campaign with me on normal to find the skulls and terminals? I only have one skull from my playthrough on Legendary. Send me a PM or list your gamertag. I'll be available for about 3-4 hours.

So back to bitching about control options. Why can't we get customs? Or better, why can't Bumper Jumper and Boxer be combined? Melee mapped to RB is just terrible, you have to stop firing to get to it, or contort your hand to play. And unaimable grenades blow arse too. RB for nades, LT for melee, and if you really need to, LB for jump. That'd be the fuckin perfect control scheme.

Bit of advice needed:
I'm at a point where I need to deactivate a barrier (I think it's on mission 6, maybe 7), basically I take the elevator to this room and there's a brute chieftan standing at the far end and about 6 brutes scattered around. I'm trying everything but it's not working. I try hitting the chieftan before the others, I hit him in the head, I'm talking 5 straight brute shots to the head. Nothing. Stands there like nothing's happened and his head garb's still intact. Is there a special way of killing these guys? No point killing the others first 'cos in the end I have to kill the big guy so it would be a waste of time. I'm playing on Heroic BTW.

Nah that's all fine, it was the actual hit accuracy he was complaining about. He said it wasn't registering.

I've had no trouble myself. I'm enjoying the lack of sweeping and other assists. Makes me feel like I've actually a good shot.

Halo 3 multiplayer does seem to bring out the worst in people though, especially if they are losing and so used to winning.

Yep, same here. Though I can definately notice the lack of sweeping.

They reduced the aim-assist so even if you do snipe someone in the head it may not register because of the lag now, whereas in Halo 2, the aim assist made up for the lag.

This also needs to be fixed.

Just wanted to stop back in and say how thoroughly impressed I am with the game. While I enjoyed Halo 1 (and Halo 2 somewhat less so), they had several annoying problems that made them become a chore at times. I'm up to mission 8 so far in Halo 3 and absolutely every moment has been awesome. I understand the game missteps a bit for some on mission 8, so I'm not going to go out and declare this game of the year yet...but from what I've played, it seems a likely candidate. Surprising to me, actually, because I wouldn't have said the same about either 1 or 2. This truly so far has been a much much better experience than the others.

... Take out the others first? Use more than 5 brute shots to kill him? They have shields so getting headshots doesn't mean squat.

Kill the other guys first. He'll overshield, and you can take it down and beat him. Once he's alone, he's easy to beat.
Hey Stinkles, since you're here, could you help me outta my dilema...
