Well clearing the cache didn't work, it's just taking forever and a day for stuff to load. As we speak right now I'm looking at my achievement game list, and it's loading the pic of each game like I was on dialup.

....this legendary edition's problems just keep on compounding over and over...

>_<

Should I just go back to gamestop and ask for an exchange or something? Seriously? I hate broken cases. Or maybe I should call Microsoft? See if they'll send me a second DVD box or something.

Sweet, my friend and I just rushed through "The Covenant" and got the IWHBYD skull! The Hayabusa Helmet looks so awesome, and only adds to the awesome-ness of my Hayabusa Shoulder Pads and breastplate.

Can someone PM me the picture of the monkey men from Sierra 117? I can't find the pic and I've searched through dozens of pages. Need to show it to a friend. Thanks guys.

Some annoying 12 year old asked me how I got the Hayabusa helmet and I told him he needed to beat Legendary on Solo in under 4 hours in order to unlock it, and he bought the lie. :lol

How do you unlock it? All skulls? Also would that include the IMWNFADF or whatever they call it skull?

Dunno if posted, or real, can anyone confirm? The IWHBYD skull location.
I had to go through it twice to get it, I swear to God I was ready to come in here and yell at you bitches for propogating the lie. There doesn't seem to be any cue at all that you are doing it correctly, no audio tone or whatever that site suggested. Also the only difference between the time it worked and the time it didn't that I noticed was I made sure to jump toward the bridge, away from the elevator.

PS: Armor, unlock, how to? Seems to be connected to beating a level on Legendary and collecting skulls. I hardly have any shoulders, but almost all the helmets.

So. Um. I just started the last level. A couple things before I go finish the fight.

---Fighting along side the Flood was one hell of a twist. I knew it was just because for that one moment, we had mutual interest in not firing the rings, but still. I never saw it coming.

---Mission eight was more intense and terrifying than all of Bioshock put together. The way the Flood forms kept mutating and growing took me a while to figure out, but it was a great twist, and a way to introduce three enemies at once. Bungie really nailed the "wet/glistening/revolting/sticky" aspect of the Flood this time out. The entire mission I was scouring for weapons, and there were many back and forth battles where I'd take and then lose territory. At the end, on the way out, I was out of weapons entirely and used the blade on the Brute Shot to get through two rooms. 0_0

I've seen that level get a lot of hate, so I thought it was going to be the Library part 2 - polarizing people - but I don't understand it now. Intense, scary and challenging level with some great story elements.

---The scene reuniting the Chief and Cortana was *perfect*. It hit the right tone, a pretty complex mix of emotions - sadness, hope, nostalgia. Her reference to "there's two of us in here now" made me smile, big time. Well done who ever wrote that scene.

Halo 3 isn't perfect, but the further I go the more those complaints I'm noting sound like really small quibbles. The game is fucking amazing.

Okay, off to do that fight finishting thing.

Does anyone know which Playlist has Infection on it the most. Is it Big Team Battle or Team SKirmish/Objective? I have yet to play it and remember how fun it was in Halo 2.

Thanks.

This is so awesome - it's finally happened - now I can finally play as Hayabusa in Halo 3! :D

I'm just finishing up a meta-game, then I'm going to unlock this gem...

The biggest complaint most people have about that level is how borked the checkpoints are.
I had to do the entire escape on a single run because of it. I could blow up the core with my eyes closed by the time I finished. I even managed to memorize which turret forms I should sticky and exactly when I should throw to do so.

To me it's the perfect co-op mission, and a not-so-great solo mission. I loved the style of the level, that part definitely drew me in the most, but it was frustrating because it just felt like there was way too much being thrown at you at once. Then again, it doesn't help that I was running out of ammo half the time, but still.

edit: Yeah, I'll agree with the checkpoints thing too, but that didn't phase me as much as just the general frustration of the whole level.

I actually like it that I was running out of ammo all the time - it was a first in the entire series, fighting enemies so numerous I had to scavenge for resources. I learned quickly to be methodical about clearing out an area so that I could fall back to it when I was overwhelmed, and always kept a bubble shield or deployable cover on hand so I could drop it behind me while I backpedaled.

I did get frustrated with the Flood form that fired spikes from a distance, as they killed me many times. But then I realized why - I was so used to fighting the Flood using close-quarters weapons (I was trucking a sword, shotty and flamethrower around) that was unprepared to fight at range. From then on I used a sword and a mix of range weapons, such as Spikers, Plasma Rifles and Brute Shots, and I was okay.

So, I just beat Normal on Coop with my friend's wife (hers and my first play through). Halfway through the ending where it needs to load
after Cortana says, "It was a pleasure to serve with you, John" or whatever
, the FUCKING game locks up. I was like ZOMGWTFBBQ?!?!!? then :lol :lol So, we had to play the last half of the level again to actually watch the rest of the ending. It was a weird end to a pretty great experience. I'm looking forward to playing through Solo on Heroic and Legendary now.

I soooo lucked out. My friend's wife loves TEH Halo and doesn't have a 360 so when I got mine last month, she suggested that she could get the game and we could play it at my place. I couldn't afford to pick up another new game after taking advantage of the Buy 2 Get 1 Free deal at Toys R Us. So she picked it up and brought it over last night. We played until 1AM and I was just dog tired at work all day (made it to level 8). Tonight, we finished it, obviously. She's letting my hold onto the game until they get their 360 'eventually' which is pretty awesome of her to do.

Mini-review:
I was really surprised at how short the game was. We beat Normal/Coop in about 6 and a half hours, which is about how long it took me to beat Heavenly Sword. We're not super Halo players by any means.

I don't know if it was everything I wanted out of Halo 3 SP but it was a really fun experience. The sound design and effects are absolutely incredible. Outside of the cool updated character/enemy models and the explosions (
I just fucking LOVE the Scarab explosion. I could watch it over and over
), I thought the graphics were good, but definitely not the best I've seen on the system, by far.

I really wanted to have some more interaction with the gravemind like some kind of boss fights. I could have used some boss-type encounters more throughout the game. Hunters were criminally under-used in my play through. I LOVE fighting hunters.

I have a few questions:

1.
So humans are the forerunners?
2.
The Halo weapon was fired in the past and basically wiped out almost all of the forerunners but enough survived to continue life on earth?

3. Legendary ending:
We watched the Legendary extra part on You Tube after we beat the game and from my understanding, half of the ship made it through the portal and half didn't but each one (arbiter and the chief) think that the other is dead, basically?
Cool ending even without the Legendary part.

4. How does theater mode work for campaign? Only the last level shows up. Is that because we had to redo it. Is it only unlocked after beating the game?

With the ammo issue, I think I just ran through the entire level, shooting only when essential... reminded me of doing those old speed runs on Goldeneye :lol

Anyway, finally finished the game a few moments ago, but becuase I was playing through the Japanese version and my Japanese listening skills aren't too great, I missed out on most of the dialogue outside of the cutscenes (apart from basic lines like 'Let's go!','Be careful!','Don't forget your seatbelt!'). So, is there a script somewhere available online? There were many points in the game where I didn't really know why I had a certain mission objective/where I was meant to be going etc. Even though it's all done and dusted now, I'd still like to go back and read all the lines I missed.

I guess looking at it like that, yeah I can see why it'd be enjoyable. I've just gotten used to having this seemingly infinite amount of resources on hand to get through a level that I never really stop to think at what would happen if I had a finite amount. If I go through it again, maybe I'll enjoy myself. I just kept thinking "Dynasty Warriors: Halo" that entire level though. Also, I had no luck with the deployable cover at ALL, as the Flood would just jump over it, even if it was in front of a door. Weird.

I did get frustrated with the Flood form that fired spikes from a distance, as they killed me many times.
After a lot of deaths I ended up just picking them off first. It was a great tactic for awhile!

actually that's what I did too. I was only playing on normal but the onslaught seemed almost pointless to fight, so I just put my head down and ran for the exit, only shooting what got in my way and never slowing down to finish anything off. It was a different kind of intense

In the theatre menu, click on 'Film:Halo' and you'll find a list where you can choose which replay to watch.

that's how I did it too. found the spots where I could hide in a corner long enough to recharge shields, then just ran from one to the other with a sword up, only killing things that popped up directly in my path.

I still have nightmares about the speed runs in Goldeneye, don't remind. The statue level was the worst.

@GhaleonEB: Totally agree on the Flood character models. All the new character models for this game really impressed me. It was too bad I didn't get more up close and personal with the Brutes.

I liked Level 8 as well. It was a lot of fun in coop. Coop, in general, was just really fucking fun. Used the plasma sword a lot in that level.

Re: Equipment
We barely used equipment the whole game. For the first half of the game, it was driving us fucking nuts that we would drop equipment instead of reloading. By the last half of the game, we didn't really see the point of using them since we got along fine without them for the first half.

Me, Lamonster and a friend from real life just got the IWHBYD skull. SWEET. Although it really sucks that folks found it by looking in the code. It feels wrong, somehow.

But who cares, I've got the Hayabusa helmet. :D

I need some advice, although I don't think there's much to be done about my problem:

I'm finding the "double kill with a single Spartan Laser shot in ranked FFA" to be impossible. There are only two levels with the laser, and it feels like I hardly ever get one of those. And there's almost never a time when two people are standing right next to each other, since it's free-for-all, and when they do, it's only for a brief second while they fight, and the laser takes much too long to charge to be able to shoot them in time. I've played dozens of Lone Wolves games (I'm a 35 now), just waiting for two guys to get close enough for me to fire. And whenever they do finally get together, by the time I've got the laser charged, their fight ended five seconds ago. I've lost a ton of games because all I did the entire time was run around with the Spartan Laser.

So, any advice? This achievement is killing me.

If anyone needs a person to fill out a team or something shoot me an invite, I hate Lone Wolves...-_-

As far as the Laser achievement, I find that the more I try to do something specific, the more I will fail. It'll happen naturally sooner or later.

That's probably true. Ugh. :lol

Let's start some customs up again, guys. Last night was awesome.

Anyone up for it? We can start out small if we need to and work our way up to a Rocket Race sized party.

I played co-op tonight. First time ever playing a Halo game. Seriously. I can see why it's popular. I got the same sense of depth, size, and gargantuan reality that Final Fantasy games have.

Had a lot of fun, and it has put me that much closer to actually buying a 360. Maybe next year.

Just got the goofiest betrayal ever. I threw a grenade at a guy outside the left area of the last resort base, the grenade bounced back, sent a mongoose flying and clocked a teammate upside the head (file #6). :lol
