Ghaleon - for that level with the 2 scarabs, heres what i do:

kill all the marines by the hornet so no one can get into them. After that, get into 1 hornet and using that hornet push the other one off the cliff. From there, proceed to crash-land onto the scarab and blow it up. After that, just go back, get the hornet you pushed off the cliff, and do it to the other one.

that's what I do, too, except I usually use spoiler tags.
 
Massive battles are fucking fun. Halo 3 is really awesome in many way. You get best of the both - ground battle and vehicle battle. Awesome fun. Playing 7th level
The Covenant
. Battles are really tense. I can't imagine playing solo in legendary mode.

The Elites. It's sort of an Inside joke.

Spud, Strike, Thermite, and I have been running through the game on Legendary. We were complaining about how Team Elite (The ones that aren't Arbiter with names incapable of human pronunciation) don't show up in cutscenes and that kind of thing.

Then we went to get the skull on Level 4 and no achievement was given. We all held it. Nothing. Team Elite was blamed.

We will resume in a half hour and hopefully get the rest of the skulls and terminals and such. And Finish the Fight on Legendary.
 
Just a reminder guys so far we have 3 people who are starting with skull 1 on normal here in about 25 minutes. My gamertag is "jason smapity" if you want in. We need 1 more person. We plan to play for at least 2 hours. I plan on attempting an all nigher lol.

Does it matter if I dont have the skull ? The only one i found is thunderstorm or something.
 
So I've just finished level 7...once again, wow...this game just keeps building and building. From level 3 onward this game has been nothing but amazing.

But now onto GAF's favorite part, the infamous level 8. No way could it be as bad as everyone is letting on...could it?

I didn't mind it. It wasn't HORRIBLE, it just reminded me a lot of the dark later levels of Halo 2. Unlike the rest of the game which is primarily open out door colorful joy lands.

Not that bad.

IMO it's not "terrible." But it is frustrating and has none of the qualities that 3, 4, 6, and 7 do that make them so awesome.
 
What's the best way to get the most out of multiplayer when your friends list has 0 people? Is there any way to browse/play custom games or would I need friends for that?

this is an indirect Halo 3 question, but i'm hoping someone here can help me.

i'm trying to sync up my gamertag with my windows live id, so i can do all the cool stuff over at bungie.net. (i could swear i did this years ago for halo 2 but i guess i have to do it again?)

i can sign in under my windows live id, but over at xbox.com when i try to tie the gamertag to it, it says i can't do that, that it's registered to another windows live id. i don't have another one of those. in fact, the only windows live id i do have started on november 9 2004, the day halo 2 came out, so i'm quite certain that my gamertag should be registered under my windows live id if it's registered anywhere at all.

is there something i'm missing? or better yet, some way to unbind my gamertag to whatever windows live id microsoft thinks it's connected to?

No, it's fun, at least it was when I played through on normal. Nowhere near as irritating as the Library,
as there's no place where the flood just keeps coming, and it's not as long/repetitive
.

You aren't accidentally playing it with the Mythic skull on are you? I forgot about that as I was collecting skulls and jesus even on normal it made me want to hurt myself.

Nah. I haven't been looking for skulls at all and don't have any. I am playing through on Heroic though.
 
Now, I have no idea if this has already happened to someone else, but for people who bought the Legendary edition: you know that rectangular plastic that was inside the helmet (or I assume for some, on top of the stand)? Well, for me, that little rectangular plastic was broken when I removed it from the helmet. It was also when I first handled the helmet that I noticed a tinkering noise, the kind that loose plastic makes.

You can only imagine how much will it took to suppress my annoyance/anger/pissed-off-consumer-that-just-spent-$141-rage.

Now, at first, I didn't notice the rectangular plastic was broken. That was the least of my worries. In fact, I connected the dots only moments ago.

But anyways, having seen a video on youtube about dismantling the legendary helmet, I decided to go at it myself. It wasn't like I was going to take the entire thing apart or anything anyways, just the first piece, so that the plastic could fall out.

And I have to say, those were the most harrowing moments of the past few months. I just spent $141 for an edition of a game that I can't even play yet (yes, I don't have a 360, just like how I bought the Halo 2 LE before I got an Xbox), and here I am, trying to figure out how the plastic parts are put together so that I don't snap anything.

Once I got the plastic piece out, I was baffled by what it could possibly have been doing in there (again, I just realized what it was part of a few moments ago).

I was mistaken to think that putting it back together would be less harrowing than taking it apart. Much mistaken. Long story short, I got it together again, but sides of the helmet were popping out in the process, which gave me several frights.

So anyways, here are pictures:

Ok how do Skulls work, I picked one up in the 117 level and nothing really happened as far as indicating I picked it up. Needless to say I did drop it in order to kill some Brute scum.

It's all good though, sending random messages to Bungie dudes can't hurt, can it?

You have to activate them in the menu. You should have got an achievement.

Microsoft, like the other 2 companies, have something like a 3 month warranty for damaged or unworking discs. Just call them up and get it replaced.
 
This is the fourth time I've been split from my party in matchmaking. It shows the map in the bottom left etc but I'm the only gamertag listed on the right-hand side. Then it starts the game and I'm the only player there, and game over instantly.

Is this happening to anyone else? My NAT is open BTW..

EDIT: Just happened again, second time in a row. Help! :(

Do you think they made extra DVDs? Some how I think that would be like calling them up and saying "hay I can has new cat helmet plz."

Anyone else having this issue, happened here aswell, more than once. It just splits the party up once it setups the match in matchmaking.
