The H3 map shirts (there's one for Valhalla) are amazing. I hope they make one for all of them.

in the credits i noticed that Team Ninja gets thanked, as do quite a list of people from Rare. Rare i could understand possibly lending a hand or two, but is the Team Ninja thing just kind of a 'greets' kinda thing? [/spoiler]
Maybe, just maybe it has something to do with how DOA4 had a Spartan as an unlockable fighter?

I'm so annoyed with my uni connection, I really want to play this on Live but currently my hall gets some really terrible speeds, and the moderate NAT is annoying too. Furthermore, I have 2 copies of the game and can't play one online.

So it seems to me like Saved Films for campaign is rather broken... you can't rewind and you can't fast forward more than ~4x. I wanted to capture some screenshots of a
scorpion that I drove on top of a working scarab
but it was towards the end of the level and it would have taken about twenty minutes to fast forward to it.

Also, random thought, but Saved Films will help a lot to expose cheaters.

You cannot rewind in movies from the campaign.

With moderate NAT you should still be able to hook up with some people... I know I can connect to moderate NATters in some games, in others we have to muck about with who's hosting.

Well i am glad that i am not the only one suffering from campaign disc read errors theres a big thread on bungie.net
http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=13193500&viewreplies=true&postRepeater1-p=1

and an even bigger one on xbox.com
http://forums.xbox.com/1/15779932/ShowPost.aspx#15779932

I really don't think its my xbox since everything else besides halo singleplayer has been working perfectly even halo multiplayer.

All my friends have now beaten single player and I cant even get past level 1 :(

...

I beat the last 3 missions, then as the final cutscene is rolling: This disc is unreadable. Try cleaning it with a cloth.

Now I'm back on the mission I started with this morning.

:(

I'm not doing this goddamn
flood and backtrack infested
mission again.

Actually it makes sense. The Prophet Truth was at the ark because the ark had a control mechanism for setting off all of the other Halo rings (outside of the new one being built at the ark) Setting off the rings would obviously kill all the covenent (who thought it was a gateway to heaven), Humans, Elites and Flood. So, the flood came to earth for the same reason you were fighting.. to stop Truth from getting to the ark.. of course you couldnt leave flood alive on earth.. so they had to be stopped prior to getting into the ark.

and then they brought High Charity (complete with Gravemind) to the ark to once again stop Truth from setting off the rings in the galaxy. Up until the point that truth was stopped they were essentially on the same side of the equation as MC/Arbiter.. stop the covenent. Once the covenent were dead then it became MC vs Flood.

Right on. Yeah, I think it all makes sense now.

Chase and Jub3, you have the legendary edition ?

I did the campaing in 4 players coop but I wasnt on live at this moment, so my stats for the campaing didnt register :( thats sad.

So, this game is nuts.. I know it doesnt have mods per se..

but there is this guy that created a new zombie/infection gametype that makes the zombies more powerfull, gives them grav hammers, etc thats alot of fun..

then he has created 4 maps that spawn the humans in a bunker with limited ammo and the zombies outside with unlimited ammo and brings them in in waves.. so freakin awesome and unlike anything in the game natively..

the race map designs that are out there right now..

there is just SO much you can do with this to make some insanely varied gametypes..

and the best part is, if you like a gametype you just played you can go download it yourself so you have it going forward.

BRAVO bungie.

You basically managed to create a very simple "make your own mod" function into the game.

I cant wait until the inevitable fan site dedicated to reviewing these things, telling you which ones you should have, etc. come out.

Actually the best best BEST part is that I can go "Link Please!" and get one. FOR MY 360.

So best.

Second stupid question of the day...in the films can you go into FPS mode?

Also great quote from my girlfriend when I told her that me and our friends all played through the campaign together: 'So is this a four person shooter' ...you may not have laughed but I did :)

Could be your 360. Coming from a guy on his 3rd console thats one of the warning signs. Now it COULD be the disc, but with weak lasers they tend to be unable to read games constantly taking large amounts of data from the disc. Very common with sports games as well as games like Gears of War being played on a bad 360.

If you have any 2k sports games(college hoops or NBA) give them a try and see how your Xbox performs. On both of my crapped out systems those were the games that first game me warning of my consoles impending death.

Just like that.. download everything with Zombie in the name :D

It is really awesome that I can go onto bungie.net and start downloading stuff to my 360.. then turn on the game, start playing and BAM.. it starts downloading.

This is honestly the best put together console game Ive ever seen. Not talking about gameplay, the feature set is absolutely nuts. I wish that clan support was still in it, but Im hoping the Fall Dash update will bring the goods on a universal level.

I can see why people don't like level 8, it's not my favorite either but I expected much worse. Graphics are very good there though.
Opening of level 9, with the music and the environment...so beautiful. Made me a bit sad.

In regards to the custom game types, they are invites only? I didn't see a matchmaking option the first time around (got Rocket Race and another installed).

I'm getting the impression that in order to get the level achievements, you have to start it from the beginning without saving/continuing. Me and a buddy were going through the campaign, and we stopped and saved to eat some dinner. Then we continued from one of the Alpha points, but when we finished the level, no achievement. Also, the icon on the setup screen that shows you completed the level is not there either. Maybe I'm missing something, but this save system is wonky. :|

Ok, well, I have spent a good amount of time with this game online and offline. And overall, I feel this is one of the most Complete games I have ever played. I salute bungie for the hardwork that is evident in this product. I am not a bungie fanboy....I liked all the halos but never knew who bungie even was till then, and I am still not a bungie fanboy, but I do love halo 3. Instead of typing up impressions I am just gonna paste my post that I posted in the NYTimes thread as it touches on things I noticed in this game/found to be good, and also, cause I am tired of seeing "halo 2.5" crap.

Fixed2BeBroken said:
Ok...I am really getting sick of these "halo 2.5" statements.....now its coming from NYTimes?

wtf

This is no way in any shape or form "Halo 2.5"

1. we have fucking replays that we can save and edit, not only in multiplayer but in the Campaign as well...and there are multiple camera options...hell, I've played a few car games that have less features than the Halo replays. For a FPS action game, that right there is innovative.

2. To those thinking this game is halo 2.5, please play halo 2 again. Seriously. I have been playing halo2 for the past 3 weeks up until halo3 came out to brushen up on my halo skills....and there is a major difference, not only in Graphics, but in Gameplay as well...Actually it was a mistake to play so much halo2 before halo3, because Halo3 is that much different(especially in the multiplayer department). So many little things were changed and nerfed and improved and it made alot of things different and made me have to adjust greatly to how halo3 is. Halo3 is a much different game than Halo2 gameplay wise, and those who truly played the two will see the differences. Graphic wise it is as well.

3. 4 player Co-op online. we pined for online Co-op since the first halo, and now we are getting it, but not only that, its 4 player.s

4. the matchmaking system and interface for the lobbies. Hey, you got a group and you are playing ranked multiplayer....but, you guys wanna now play Co-op campaign? Just switch lobbies to the Campaign....No need to exit out and remake the group. Want to watch the replays together? just switch the lobby to the theatre. now maybe you wanna try Forge? just switch the lobby. The interface itself, is innovative compared to all other online lobby interfaces. It pretty much makes it so you never have to remake a group technically. Bungie keeps stepping up thier matchmaking/lobby interfaces and I really wish they would share it with every other developer for a price just because if every game worked like this, it would make so many more online experiences that much better.

5. Enemy Ai is much more better (of course) from halo 2 and alot more enjoyable.

6. Enemy chatter = greatly improved. (not that it was bad before) And not only that, but it is very smart. Playing Co-op with a friend, my partner, who is the arbitor, dies and I didn't realize it but I hear a Brute yell out "the arbitor is dead." Or once my partner was on a turret picking them off and a Brute yelled "get the arbitar!"
things like that is attention to detail. The enemies are "aware" of you.

7. Sound in general is amazing. And the music, is sweet as ever.

Honestly, after typing this post, It might look like I am some halo fanboy. Trust, I am not. I love halo, but I am far from a fanboy. If I am a fanboy of any game this gen, it would probably be Bioshock and 2k sports games. But after seeing so many retarded comments about "halo 2.5" its starting to get real annoying and making me think these people who make these comments are either just bitter haters, or have never even played halo 2 and halo 3, or haven't played halo 2 in a long ass time to see the many differences in halo 3.

<edit> read some more posts in this thread bitching about graphics....again wtf....replay halo 2 and you will see you a huge difference. You also might wanna try taking the goggles off. I see the difference and I play on a SDTV.

<edit> i'd also like to mention the whole Fileshare system between the PC and the 360 is innovative in itself. Yea i know skate has something similar, but nowhere near to the extent that the halo3 has. the things this game can do is amazing.

Yea i play a ton of sports games no prob there. Played some skate also no problem. But i guess it could be the 360. I have the regular edition of the game btw. My friends coming over with his 360 and disc and well do some swapping to see whats up.

Holy shit. I had no idea! Pardon my newbness, but when I download these mods, where do I go to actually play them? In Forge? Also, will it find other random people who have them to play with, or will I only be able to play with friends?

Its only for custom (non ranked games), so when you have a group of gaffers playing, or some buddies just messing around you can load this up..

you just select this gametype under the infection gametypes (it'll be listed)..

then when you pick your map, just pick these variants...

Note: The gametype is fun on any map, but better with these maps... but these maps arent so good without the gametype.

And just the host needs it, correct?

So, basically, I'd start a custom game on one this guy's map variants, go to game settings and set it to that guy's "InfectionZombie" setting, invite a few friends and also leave it "open" so anyone on my friends list can bring up my profile and "Join Current Game" (and it'll have the arrow next to my name) and that's it?

I just finished the campaign on Heroic SP for the first time yesterday and finally have a chance to comment on the game.

-Campaign, as a whole, is pretty amazing.
-The Storm is the best mission, hands down, for me. It's got the right blend of vehicular and indoor action, several excellent encounters, an interesting part in the fiction, and beautiful art.
-The eighth mission can suck it. Looks really phenomenal, but I basically ran through it.
-Last section of the last mission is exciting, appropriately climatic, and a nice throwback, but, man, do I hate repititive assets. I understand it was a necessity due to the scope, but that entire area doesn't make any sense from a "What is this here for?" point of view as well as an artistic standpoint.
-Story started out promising for me, but I didn't really "get" a lot of the later aspects.
Why was Johnson so important to the Covenant? Where the hell did the Ark take them? Was that some sort of portal world that linked to all the other Halos? How was Cortana able to constantly communicate with the Chief? Why did the new "Halo 1" wipe out all the Flood- weren't there more of them on Earth as well as across the galaxy?
-Lastly: what is the scene on Legendary at the end? I did the whole campaign on Heroic but accidentally pressed a button during the credits, so I had to replay the whole last level and decided to do so on Legendary. After the scene with
the Chief going into hibernation, it showed what appeared to be a giant metal planet. Is that scene the "Legendary" one?
-All in all, if I had to do the despicable and rate campaign by itself, (not including the skulls, scoring, coop, etc.) I'd probably give it a 9. Definitely better than the first Halo, dunno if I like it more than the second. (I know this is probably going to be the most uncommon opinion out there. :lol )

bingo. Just the host (since the download is actually a tee tiny little file and everything is allready on the HD).. then once you have played the custom game type, your friends can download it too if they like it. So unlike a good custom map on a PC shooter, you dont have to wait for everyone to DL the map to play on it.

If you havent allready, go download rocket race and some of the maps for that too.. they are th3 awesome (I think Bungie made these).

Yeah, I have Rocket Race and all the Pirate stuff. Looks like it'll be Bungie Pro for me before too long...

you can DL all you want without bungie pro. You are just limited on uploads..

Once this weekend hits and I have more time to play around in theater mode and start making some custom gametypes of my own (Im planning a Rocket Arena type of game, which I could sorta make in Halo 2, but I imagine will be better here) I'll likely need it though.

I played a round of rocket race and the pirates gametype yesterday and loved both. We need to get some GAF games of those going this weekend.

Edit: Dirtbag, I was in that game. Were any of you talking? I couldn't hear anyone except Ace and it didn't sound like he could hear me the whole time we were in that party. Were you guys in private chat or something?

Oh that's true. But I have so many ideas for screens and films that it'll probably end up being worth it. And it's also cheaper than I expected it to be.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to a week or so from now when everyone's at least done with their first run throughs of campaign and their mad dash to get a solid rank in MultiPlayer and we can finally set up some nights for just fun.

Halvie said:
again is the ending after the credits deal only on Legendary or will I get it on heroic too?

you get the same ending on heroic except for a small bit at the end... that isnt really anything major. The main part of the story is there for everyone to enjoy. Unless they hit a button (like me).

Ending spoiler:

I pressed a button on that "thanks to the fans" thing before the final credits rolled and was left thinking MC died for most of a day. I was SO mad. Then I realized that Im just dumb
