Has anybody discussed how downright amazing the rank spread graph is? For the unitiated, if you press 'X' while in the lobby for a particular Ranked Playlist you can see the number of people who have played that playlist as well as a bar graph of the rank breakdown.

Such a small thing that many won't even notice, but it's awesome.

Agh! Why won't the map be that up to date!

Where in the game can you see that number?

In the lobby I believe, about an hour ago when I was on it was at 530,000. The numbers of people online just blow my mind, I never thought that many people would go live with it. About 150,000 people alone were playing Team slayer when I was online today.

I'm going to try to attack the campaign on Legendary with a friend of mine in about an hour. I've yet to play the campaign so I'm looking forward to it via co-op.

Anyone have any idea why I don't have file sharing enabled? And more to the point, how I go about enabling it? :/

I cant even watch my movies at the moment.

Any lobby? Your party lobby before you choose matchmaking or whatevah?

Most people are assuming most problems will be fixed, promptly. Stuff like turrets spawning on Team Swords is a bit of an oversight. I could have sworn the push to talk was an option in your voice settings too. Did they re-redo it or something?

Also you seem to be trying to do a custom game from matchmaking. You should be able to move your entire party over to the custom room.
There is no option to get rid of the push to talk system in the voice setting. Only insignificant settings.

And no, I am not really trying to do a custom game from matchmaking. All I wanted is to be able to play with my friends against other players, doing only Team Slayer. Aside that, the maps could be random, the number of kills, the vehicles or whatever, I would not care.
At least on social match. For ranking match I can perfectly understand the point to impose random game type for testing the skills of the players.

But if only it was possible to get rid of the push-to-talk system, even if it's only on custom games, it would be for me a HUGE improvement.

Finished capaign just now!

Woohoo!

EDIT: So what is the appropriate method for finding skulls? Just look everywhere and run into them randomly, or is that nearly impossible? Or is it okay to cheat and look them up online?

Interesting that they didn't specify how many copies sold; I'm assuming it's because the total is less than Halo 2's 2.4m. Hmmm.

Still - holy shit. And that doesn't include Europe.

Or the $220 it made in Japan.

rimshot. Ill be here all week! try the chicken!:D

I don't have to push to talk in halo 3.. not in team slayer anyways.
It happens, it seems to be a random setting, probably linked to the size of the team, but I am not sure. Maybe only for 4 players teams.

If I have to give a proportion, I would say that 90% of my games were with push-to-talk system.

Or maybe you were playing on small maps, because you can hear and talk to any guys in the vicinity without pressing any button.

Well, I'm going to play campaign, but feel free to send me a multiplayer invite and I'll come play. I haven't played multi yet, and I feel left out. :-(

NOTE: I'll be on in about an a hour.

MC wasn't bred for luck. Read the books, the whole "I know how to pick them" and "MC being lucky" are just metaphors to the fact that there are limitations as to what the computer abilities of Cortana are, however she has a "human" instinct. All Spartans in the original program went through the "luck" test of Dr Halsey, is just that MC is the "luckiest one". In the sense that he survived. However, nobody can be so lucky, meaning that MC is truly special and he is able to accomplish things other soldiers can't
I have read the books, and you apparently missed the part of my post where I said I was kidding. It's a joke, son. "Bungie <silly unsupported conclusion> confirmed!" Internet meme? No?

Thanks for the info, but feel free to tone back on the condescension a wee tad.

my favoite moment was the second scarab attack... i grabbed a chopper, used that large structure as a ramp then went jack bauer on it. so fucking awesome.

CAN'T FIND YOUR SCREENSHOTS?

Neither could I! But just look now!

http://www.bungie.net/stats/halo3/de...er=KidInsomnia

I don't know if this is the right way or if I'm just using a work around BUT...

1) Take your screenshot
2) UPLOAD it manually to your File Share
3) On Bungie.net go to your File Share
4) Click on the Screenie to bring up the Pop Up of it
5) Click on SAVE TO MY GALLERY

IT IS NOW IN YOUR HI-RES SCREENSHOT, AND SERVICE RECORD GALLERY.

It can now be used as your Money Shot on your profile page, JUST LIKE MINE!

Note: Everything in theater lobby is clickable.

I've seen it explained a few times, but just in case:

I've taken a bunch of screenshots, and the game said they were loading over to bungie.net, but of course they are not there. I just manually loaded six to my File Share, then copied them over to the screenshot gallery. Is that how I have to get all of my screens over to the gallery? Or will subsequent screens show up automatically, but I need to manually load the others I've already taken?

Oh, and I liked this one.

Edit: I see the above. Do I need to do that every time, in batches of six?

I played through Bioshock on both Normal and Hard, and the only difference was the amount of damage enemies take and deal. Here, entire encounters play out differently, the AI is more sophisticated, and everything is just crazier.
Actually, in a recent Bungie podcast, it was stated that the AI isn't any different when playing on harder difficulties. It's just that the enemies live longer, and there are more of them, so there is both time and opportunity for more interesting behaviors to emerge and be witnessed by the player. (They also may have more equipment, which again "enables" more behaviors)

So far, Herioc is kicking my ass, but I'm loving it. It's a good kind of hurt. :lol
I agree. I only hope I'm capable of playing through on Heroic. I got a bit frustrated last night, and didn't feel like playing anymore, and that was only on level 2. Hopefully, I will have better luck tonight. I'd hate to have to drop down to "Normal" since aside from this one "scene", I've quite enjoyed the level of challenge.

A buddy of mine may be buying the game today, so I may have some help soon.

I believe so, the one that shows the worldmap view. The lower left corner shows how many gamers are online in Halo 3. It doesn't specify campaign or multi just total online Halo 3 gamers. It will show how many people are online if you're playing certain match types like Team slayer though.

I'm so awesome:
Level One: 140 kills, 15 Deaths (how the hell?)
Level Double: 168 kills, 11 deaths
Level Triple: 113 kills, 2 deaths (really?)

Does anyone else boot up the game and just feel a bit....overwhelmed? I want to do everything, but I can't decide what to start with. Could be worse, of course.

Game shows that screens are uploaded automatically. But problem is, it is showing up after long wait. Last night, I uploaded two screens that way. It showed up like after 12 hours. I did one manually, I was able to see it instantly. Something weird is going on.

Rifles+range are your best friend. Getting up close and personal is fun, but will most likely get you killed.(Or least I am, might possibly be just my suckage.)

I don't make a habit of responding to people who are as obviously fired up as you, but I'll make an exception in this case.

Halo 3 uses Push To Talk whenever the recipients of your voice (ie. your team) is greater than 3. In a 4v4 game, you'll have open channel voice. Note that 4v4 matches make up the overwhelming majority of our online games. In anything larger, you'll have to use PTT.

Why? Because our voice model does not leave things to chance (as some other games do)--we guarantee voice delivery to a high degree of reliability, and at the same time prevent it from eating all of the bandwidth that the game needs to run smoothly. 4-5 mouth breathers with their mics too close would saturate the voice channel. Our decision was to prioritize reliability and robust game object networking, and you'll have to get used to tapping the D-pad in larger games. (If you're not already aware, you don't need to hold it, the channel will stay open until you're done talking, or around 20 seconds, whichever comes first.)

Second, you can make Custom Games with your friends all day long. Go nuts, there's nothing stopping you. Make sure your network mode isn't Invite Only, and people will be able to join you at will. If you want random people to join in, though, you'll need to use matchmaking. That's how we've set things up, and that's not going to change. If that's a dealbreaker for you, then I'm sorry you were unaware of how we've been doing things for the last three years.

Not trolling. But beat it on Normal in about 5 hours. Complete breeze.
Honestly, didn't really enjoy the single-player that much apart from the
scarab fights
Thank god for the awesome multiplayer options.

It was more about taking the elevator up, and waiting for his body to come close, I timed it perfect. However I didn't make it on my first try lol, thank god for no damage when you fall a hundred feet.

When they go down to their knees you can hop on the running boards usually. That's how I killed them later.

I tried to play two player online co-op today and found it unplayable. When I tried to do anything it would not register until .25-.5 seconds after I tried to do the action. Is this issue in the process of being fixed ferrex?

Ugh! I went to turn on campaign scoring and it deleted my current campaign progress! The damn warning message said it would return me to the start of my current mission ,meaning to me: the current level! Argh! I am so pissed. I don't think I have the will to go through again just to return to my previous progress point. This sucks :(

Normal is NOT how the game is meant to be played. play it on heroic before complaining :)

I'm playing Normal to Skull Hunt and I can literally walk through encounters like water. They should have really made that easy mode and Heroic should have been normal.

It's only gimmicks if they don't really add anything more to the game.

The point is; the gameplay feels exactly the same as in the two last Halos, with some minor differences.

They should have radically changed the gameplay of the best selling FPS ever? Yeah, that's what they're going to do. So far as I can see, you major beef with H3 is that it isn't CoD4. It's not. You should probably go play that instead, as it's a very different kind of FPS shooter than H3.

Can someone please help me with my Strict NAT error. It just recently started happening ( I used to have it open) but now it's strict :(

I have the common WRT54GL Linksys router and I opened these ports yesterday but still nothing.

I'm getting raped again. :(

On
level 6, on Installation 00
after you meet
the Sentinals attacking the Covenant
, you're supposed to
take out Wraiths ? I think, because I drive in the open sand and meet a pack of Brutes, with a Wraith in the back attacking me, then two anti-air Wraiths behind the initial Wraith I talked about
. It's really pissing me off because
I can't pass this part. I either get killed by the Brute pack in the front, or the Wraith. But if I manage to escape both, there are multiple Grunt turrets next to the anti-air Wraiths killing me

Finished the fight on heroic...

Perfect ending to my favorite series. The campaign was amazing and the level 9 was awesome. The AOTC and Maw like parts were great and kind of makes me want a Halo remake. Also, I was sad to see Johnson go..I always liked him. The guys at Bungie made one hell of a game. Can't wait to see what happens with the Chief and Cortana, Hopefully the Weta continues on the story.

Now! Time for some MP.

There is no specific advice I can really give you but this encounter was tough for me as well. I just took things really slowly and kept myself at a good distance while taking out the Brutes and Grunts one by one.

Set a static IP for your Xbox 360, then use that as the DMZ (opens all ports). That usually works.

Can someone literally write out what happened? I finished the game, but I honestly had so much trouble following the story.

Is there a good synopsis anywhere? Or even something that puts H1/2/3 stories together into a single narrative?

Has anyone got the triple kill achievement!? If so, on which mode did you do it?

I've done multiple stuff for achievements, still they don't unlock. and YES it was on ranked matches.

Yeah, played normal in co-op to look for skulls and we were able to bypass nearly every single encounter by simply running past the enemies.

The majority of people are going to play on normal too.

I'm confused:

WHAT MEDAL IS THIS FOR?

Can you skull hunt on co-op without any problems? Do both people get the skulls and do you still get the achievements? How does that work?
