Just beat the campaign with a couple of friends in 5 hours. I'm not about to read through all the back posts, but am I the only one that felt fairly underwhelmed afterwards?

I doubt very much that Bungie had anything to do with the casing. I'd assume they did the art for the case and Microsoft handled packaging.

Blame the publisher. Microsoft marketing would probably handle packaging decisions.

Hmm. Odd. My bungie Halo 3 profile isn't showing up. Even though I've played hours of Campaign, a multiplayer match, and I've uploaded 5 pictures. I broke my webs.

Ok wtf is going with bungie net? My emblem went back to my old emblem even though I didn't even change it back plus my custom Spartan is not showing, it's just showing default and it's still not showing screenshots after like 10 hours...

Wow, the ending left me feeling somber. The game was truly epic and a love letter to fans in every way. They outdid themselves. Wow, thank you Bungie. Thank you Bungie.

No, that's the
Covenant Holy City. It was a cruiser that crashed on earth. I don't remember the name of it, though. : (

Live is having problems. It's been this way all evening.

If you check his gamertag, he hasn't played one game of halo 3 online. I am assuming QVT is him.
Also, he doesn't have any achievements for campaign, so he's either played through it on easy or not at all. Interesting.

also? if so, HOW?
The Flood took it over, flew it through the portal, and crashed it there.

Ok So I beat the game on Heroic, but the last mission on Legendary. Do you only need the last mission on Legendary to watch the extended ending, or you have to do the whole game in Legendary? I have only watched the ending once so I dont know. Great ending though. Just when I thought Bungie dropped the ball, they come up with that stuff. Truly FULL CIRCLE. Also,
whats the last planet that shows up at the ending, the one with the blue sun and that looks all techy and stuff?

That's it. You saw it. The part
with the planet is the extra ending.

Well. I'm at Chapter 4, and I am a bit underwhelmed also.

It feels like Halo with a new coat of paint.....Not that that is a bad thing necessarily.

I've got the same complaints as everone wlse. Cutscene animation, aliasing, models look a bit low res. But I am having fun because the core game is really polished., just wish it wowed me more vusually.

I think my only serious complaint is the animation. Seriously, it has barely improved.

Graphics are good, not great. The amount of things going on screen at one time is incredible.

Level design (single player) is good but sometimes it's easy to get lost. Thank god for the navigation system.

Weapons and vehicles are a big step above Halo 2. Vehicles, ESPECIALLY - WOW!

Animation though, leaves a lot to be desired. It makes the game "seem" like Halo 2 in HD.

Shit, just as I was about to shut down the console in disgust. So ppl that DIDNT beat it on Legendary didnt even get to see
that the chief survived? And nobody knows whats that planet? HALO 4?
edit: didnt

Going against the scarab my passenger with rockets took out two fellow atv's. :lol

Games fun as hell though, campaign's taking me a while because I take so many pictures. :D

No, no - just the
part with the planet. That one short scene. All of the stuff with the Chief is in the normal game.

I stope one of the Wraiths and used it to blast all the Brutes.

How do you steal Wraiths? I could only board it and put a grenade in, rendering it useless. I guess you have to take out all the drivers?

how do you take pictures in campaign mode? i looked for the option earlier and couldn't find it.

i'm only about half way in on heroic now, but i'm still amazed at how beautiful this is, especially in comparison to H1 & H2. there's so many tiny little details like the animated skys and such. so subtle i didn't notice some of the things when i first saw them.

Ok, I see then. So any guess as to
what is that planet? Cannot be High Charity since MC destroyed it in level 8, so WTF is it?

Did you at least did it in Legendary? I mean, the game isnt designed for 4 players unless you use the skulls to unlock the Mythic difficulty and all that.

Isn't it just badass that the chief lands on earth like a meteor? I can't believe he survived and then proceeded to kick convenant ass right afterwards. That puts him at the level of the superman from superman returns.

If you've read the books, people are thinking it's Onyx or perhaps the shield planet that the rest of the Spartans ended up inside at the end of Ghosts of Onyx. Or something entirely different.

What sort of sucks is that we probably won't know for a long time. Years, probably. But since they only added that scene at the end of Legendary, it's not a big deal - in fact, I like it. It's not a cliffhanger, per se, since it won't be seen by the majority of Halo players, it's just a tidbit for us hardcore fans.

Wow, great pictures. How do you take them? Camera? If so, wow.

Also, I can't believe I started a thread called 'Will Gears of War steal Halo 3's thunder' a year ago. I feel like a total asstart right now, as I anxiously wait for my copy of Halo 3 to arrive.

He took them using Halo 3's in-game camera - it's called "saved films." :D And then they upload to b.net automatically (well, not tonight since Live is screwed up).

You know how to watch video of campaign though right? Just pause the game while watching and press x, a little menu will pop up and the far left selection will be to take a screenshot.

Hoo yeah, I had totally forgot about that, but I am not sure though.
Did the part of the ship that the Chief was on managed to make the jump through the space portal? If so, then it could be the shield planet. In fact, I assume it is since otherwise Cortana would know that a distress signal wouldnt be of any help.

The extras discs does a good job of explaining their animation philosophy where the gameplay takes precedence over animation. You might want to check it out, or not.

Gah, wake up at 7:30 so I can go in at 8am to get my copy and end up walking on my glasses, somehow they fell on the floor and of course I never saw them there...

So first things first, to specsavers :/

No, if the Chief's half of the ship had made it through the portal, then he'd be back at Earth. That's why Cortana said it'd be years before anyone found them, since the signal has to travel from the edge of the galaxy (assuming it's being transmitted via slipspace or some other faster-than-light means). IIRC, didn't they step through a portal-type thing in Ghosts of Onyx to get to the shield planet? So, it'd make sense if it was near the Ark.

Well truthfully, while the game looks great overall imo, the jaggies do start to spoil some of the visual quality. I think whatever tool that's used to take the image slightly compresses it and takes away some of the sharpness and jaggies with it.

So beat the game on Normal. Yes I know I suck. Dear god it was plenty tough for me. However I love the game. Great conclusion.

The only problems I had were the music kinda pausing in and out on some checkpoints. Then the level everyone hates I loved except dear god that was the hardest level I have ever played. Again I know I suck. lol

Overall though I couldn't be happier.

I have never finished GoO, I just know basic details. I guess this is a good time to finish it.

I can't believe some people are down on the games graphics, when I stepped out on to the field with the Scarab I was awe struck. :)

Multiplayer is just too damn good, I fear for my health. :lol

Thanks for mentioning that, Ill be sure to check it out.

Wait - is it on the LE or just Legendary?

I think that's my only gripe so far. Everything else - epic soundtrack, ambient effects, precision controls, sense of scale is just wonderful. Simply wonderful. Playing back an entire level through Theater Mode with the detached camera is one of the greatest things I've ever experienced in gaming. I'm truly impressed with Halo 3 in almost every respect.

Having said that, it's pretty obvious that Bungie chose to focus on throwing as much stuff on the screen at one time as possible, sacrificing some of the next-gen eye candy found in other titles. Certain levels look every bit as good as anything you'll find in Gears or Bioshock... but at other times it's really quite disappointing. I can certainly understand where all the Halo 2.5 HD comments are coming from, especially from those who haven't progressed any further than the first two levels.

Even though I've always been a bit of a graphic whore, I will always, always, always take an amazingly polished game with incredible gameplay over a looker with no soul. There are some big-name titles on the horizon for both next-gen machines that look visually stunning... but it's highly doubtful that they will even begin to approach the level of depth you'll find in H3. This game was designed to be played for the next half decade (and beyond) and that's where it succeeds.

I never played much Halo 2 online so, I'm kind of new to this. Is there a way to do specific types of games in matchmaking? Like say I want to do just capture the flag or just free for all slayer. It looks like I can only do random rules in matchmaking except for with Team Slayer.

i'm fed up of hearing the bloody news reports about Halo3 earning more money in a day than the last Harry Potter book or Spiderman 3........ Errrrrrrrrrrr They were films and books....... they were £7 or £10 each................... Halo 3 is £40-£50 so needs to sell 4-5times or more less to make the same volume of money.

Yeah okay, its gonna sell a lot of copies, and i have one of those copies coming (STUPID ROYAL MAIL) but come on Microsoft, i'm sure you can just say it sold 2m copies, an people would go WOW.

PLEASE don't insult me by comaring it to smething that costs no were near as much to see or buy and say it did better. Thats PS3 Sony type (We generated more revenue than any home console this month) style spin. That you just don't need

Sorry your so insulted. :)

Getting (Insert large number) of people to buy a $60 piece of software, on the first day it's released, is an incredible feat.

A company's bottom line is normally measured in monies, not copies. Try to deal with it.
